4K YouTube is in google’s court. Apple will never support google’s happy little codec.

You can kick and scream about Google all you want but when VP9 is shipping on Amazon Fire TV, Microsoft Windows, Roku sticks, LG and Samsung TVs, Intel CPUs, Nvidia and AMD graphics cards and the entire Android ecosystem, it's become a de-facto standard.

Would that require new hardware?
No, all Apple products since the iPhone SE have ben able to play Dolby Digital+ If your iTunes movies is with Dolby Atmos, then it's Dolby Digital+ :) as I believe Netflix and Amazon Prime is!

But then, AC-4 is supposed to be on its way but not sure what the heck is happening to it. AC-4 is the successor to Dolby Digital & Dolby Digital+ One of its advantages is that it allows a cleaner dialogue.

I could see them offering at least a 128 gb version of a new Apple TV. Since you can download games and ATV+ shows.

I also hope the gray bands that come with the Titanium models are available to purchase.

Oh, it will be :)

I just paid too much money for a professionally-programmed control system so I can avoid it.
Yes you did. You can program the AppleTV to respond to ANY old Ir remote you have. For anything.

Yeah, but then I can’t press a single button that turns off my lights, turns off the tv, turns on the projector, pulls down the screen, switches the receiver to the Apple TV, sets the zone 1 and zone 2 outputs accordingly, and puts the remote in Apple TV control mode.

If new iPhone 9 comes out, flagship iPod Touch may ship with same specs sans cellular features.
And I think $449/499 is more likely for the new phone.

I don’t think this has anything to do with new products. Usually retailers do not get prompted about new products in an early stage. I believe this are internal SKU’s to speed up the initial listing process of the product feed / productpage as soon as Apple announces new products.

My analysis:
The Apple TV listing (Apple TV Stick hopefully?) and Apple Watch bands (probably just the spring colors) have unique prices. Those are probably the final prices.
The AirPods (StudioPods, probably) and iPod Touch listings have the same, pretty expensive for an iPod Touch price. I think this must mean that they’re just placeholder prices until they get the real prices from Apple.
Really excited for the new AirPods/StudioPods/AirCans.
Very intrigued by the new Apple TV and iPod Touch.
Mildly interested in what the new band colors will be.

I hope this generation X of devices are made to last many many years because it’s already hard to improve them. Like an SE edition. The definitive iPod, AppleTV, earbuds, you name it.

The iPod touch product is super interesting as that is still rocking an old chip, has no Touch or Face ID system and is the only 4 inch device still actively sold. I don’t need one, but I’d be interested to see what they do to update such a device.
I've been looking into buying one actually, but 256 gig for $400 is rough. I looked into fixing old iPods, and realized AirPods and wireless are too nice to give up, but I want a dedicated music player, and want it to be from apple. So, I'm curious about what the update will do, and hopefully the old versions will at least drop in price. Pretty stoked honestly.

Well then you didn’t invest in that because of bad little remote, did you? You just use it as an excuse to boast about your system.

or you could do what most smart people do and just get a decentuniversal remote like the Harmony Elite...
So, it sounds like you're agreeing the ATV remote is garbage due to the fact that "smart people" go buy a decent 3rd party remote. I like to think I'm pretty smart, and it makes sense to me that if a remote is so poorly designed that "smart people" have to go buy something else at further expense, why not just include a remote with the product that fixes many of the criticisms and works like people want it to?

The other possibility is that most people are fine with the smart remote, and that the people here, as always, remain the minority. Personally, I am fine with it, and find its simplicity refreshing, compared to other remotes that have so many buttons I will never use.

If I wanted to boast, I would have led with that.
If the Apple TV came with a better remote, it could actually control most of the equipment connected to it with CEC.
But since the remote is an ergonomic nightmare (good luck guessing which side is up without looking) I chose not to go that route.

people have been complaining about the remote since it was released. Some people gripe about it, and others just replace it with a universal remote.
Sure SOME people are fine with it, but the Apple remote has ALWAYS been something most people have complained about.
