We designed a new monitor for the PRO YouTube influencers that will say how awesome it is and that the new Mac Pro will handle their RED camera footage for their YouTube videos to brag about more of the cool stuff they have to show you to buy !
sadly this is what we have become !

there are some amazing creatives out there but I often see more creative from folks who have way less etc... so not knocking just saying to much of this and the price and feature set of the high end EIZO is a better buy and for most of us a NEC or BenQ with great accuracy and a bit less features then the Eizo are great options

The pro market is not quite so narrow as this
many folks that make their income from creative fields and have to budget this is for a tiny niche and again most pros wont gain anything From this over a Eizo or NEC or BenQ and actually the features of the high end Eizo are nicer then this with built in profiling etc...
this is a modern trendy YouTube influencer monitor for the most part IMHO

It's too expensive. Yes, 6K displays are expensive, but why not create something people can afford as well? It's like Apple thinks most people are loaded.

I actually like the design and the price is fine for a 6K 10-bit display, but again there's never an in between. We have to buy iMacs and settle for throttling, no upgrades, integrated graphics... Pretty disappointing.

If you aren't earning enough money for a $6k display you really can't make a living to buy a modern system.

Well, I don't work in a field where I would need a 6k display.
We have 2x 1920x1200 at work. Go figure...

I have a 2560x1600 + 1920x1200 at home.

I could afford an iMac 5k or a MacMini + 2*4k display - but I don't really need either of those right now, so I choose not to spend the money now when I can get better hardware one year from here (or whenever Apple ceases to release updates to Mojave or whatever my 2012 Mini is running then, or if it's just too slow)

That is way too much for a 60hz display. I know people on here are saying it isn’t a gaming Monitor, except we are now recording video and editing at high frame rate. I would expect a 120hz display at this price... I don’t think there will be a lot of interest in this monitor, which is a shame, Mac Pro will be very popular though... 1000 dollar stand is a straight up FU to the development community... Apple should know better

The spec sheet does not offer any reference on what the frequency is so you're grasping at air. My guess it's at least a 240Hz/256Hz unit.

Amazing display! I am in love. BUT
Extra $1k for the stand and extra $1k for the nano screen is a slap on the face. $7k is just too much. Apple would have way more success selling this at $4k and have a cheaper option with 5K resolution. Big miss on their part.

Correction: Optional $1,000 stand. I’m guessing a throng of third-party options at traditional $30-$100 price points, VESA mount adapter inclusive.

It’s a shame it’s not 120fps.
Somewhat. There’s a healthy debate to be had about how much a much a human eye can perceive at that rate, especially at that resolution. Given the target audience, I think 60 Hz is good. Cramming more Hz into a 6k display with today’s technology would be quite a challenge anyway.

The $1000 stand is beyond ridiculous. Come on Apple. Other then that, incredible display. Price is also more than ok, especially considering that it has no alternatives. People complaining about lack of OLED etc. Should get a reality check. It’s a HDR pro video editing device, not a home entertainment system.

Nice to see apple putting the Pro back in their "Pro machines." I suspect everyone complaining about the price is not really at the high end Pro user who wouldnt blink at prices for a computer workstation.

Oh man, did you hear the audible discord when they announced the Mac Pro stand would cost 999$?! What were they thinking!? They made it seem like it was a whole unit, not separate buys, GREED! lol

That was Epic. You thing Tim noticed? There was a slight pause there :)

Apple taking overpriced to a next level. You spend $5000 on a monitor that doesn't even include a stand or vesa mount. At that price you expect it to have the stand along with it just like every monitor in the world. Imagine the mindless rich people who are going to buy this and realize when they unbox it they don't know where to put it since there's no mount. Can't wait till youtubers make videos on this absurd thing

Wasn't expecting it to be cheap just not out of touch, like a $1000 stand? That should have been standard? lol. I think Tim Cook has jumped the shark and so has Apple. The computer for the rest of us, dead and buried with Jobs.

It's actually cheap for what it is! Take the time to review displays used by professional cinema production and even still custom imagery.

This is REAL Pro gear! Apple is now aiming for the https://www.red.com & https://www.hasselblad.com/x1d/ markets!

I can't wait!

The fact that a $5,000 display doesn't come with the stand is beyond absurd. Not that it was ever within my reach, at that price point, but damn.

Agreed, to a point. If you are forced to pay for a stand as part of the overall purchase, and then you just keep that stand somewhere in storage collecting dust, it's a waste of your money. But $1000 for a stand is insane!
[doublepost=1559601507][/doublepost]Apple is clearly targeting these products for Pro industry markets where $1000 is mere peanuts for a productivity system that will generate millions. Imagine movie production companies. They won't sneeze at this at all.

Did AAPL tell us if it's "true" 10-bit color, with 10-bit "pixel drivers" ?

If they didn't mention that, then I suspect its (ONLY) 8-bit pixel drivers with dithering.

Couldn’t we have had an Apple designed 5K monitor also?

Frustrating they are only making one in house option and it’s breathtakingly expensive

A 5k monitor at the same performance points would be great, probably still pretty pricey though. The current monitor though isn't that outrageously priced when you look at other high-end, highly spec'd monitors like one from Eizo ($5.5k or so, including stand :)).

Don't get me wrong, this display is amazing. Sure, it's expensive AF at $5000, but for enterprises and businesses that heavily rely on display accuracy/quality, this would be a great choice for them.
BUT, why the hell would Apple sell the stand separately for another $1000!? I mean, we all know the answer is because of Tim's greed but holy ****, how are you even supposed to use the display without a stand in the first place? Can it at least be mounted onto those monitor arms?

Why is it that every time Apple finally does something awesome like this, there's always that 1 little catch that completely ruins it and becomes the main talking point across the Internet? Can't they ever just announce something like this without any controversies?

I wish I needed this type of display. It’s gorgeous. I hope it delivers flawlessly .

I WANT AN iMAC VERSION OF THIS MONITOR !!!! NOW !!!!

I don't need all the power AND EXPENSE of the new Mac Pro... but I'd love a complete computer system built into the chassis of the Pro Display XDR. I especially love the matte screen the ability to move the screen up, down and around. I also love the fact that Apple have moved away from their obsession for thinness... at the sacrifice of performance. I get the advantage of thinness and lightness on mobile devices... but I've never understood why the iMac has to be so thin.

I would also like to see a few different sizes... for both my proposed Super iMac.
