Not sure if this will help. I have Apple 3 watch. 2 weeks ago I felt tired and a bit dizzy. I rested a couple of hours in bed when my watched sent me a message that read something like this “you have been resting for a long while yet your heart rate is 41. You may want to get in touch with your doctor”.
I called, the nurse sent an ambulance. The emergency room doctors could not believe that my watch warned me. I had an operation the next morning which included a pacer. The upper part of my heart had slowed the blood flow to the bottom part.

I sent an email to Tim Cook to thank him. He replied a couple of hours later (on a Sunday) wishing me well and letting me know that stories like mine keeps

Looks like the capacity for both gps and cellular versions of Series 4 are the same 16g. On series 3 the cellular had 16 but GPS only 8.

Because every other major iOS app bailed on the AW.

No official apps from anyone. Its a joke.

You don't own one, hard to judge if you don't, and don't want one. For me, the greatest addition ever. I have a heart related condition that makes the Apple Watch indispensable. Wants me of tachycardia, I can call emergency services if I am having trouble when out and about, my wife can find me, I can get a Lyft or Uber ride, I can pay for things through Apple pay.

Official apps - quite a few. Uber, Lyft, Cardiogram, PCCalc, weather, workouts, Stocks, Photos, phone, maps, mail, calendar, so many running apps, walking apps, remote controls for camera, keynote, travel apps, not to mention stream music, control HomePod. Did I mention Siri? yeah runs Siri

Geez I can get how you might not be interested, but where is your civility?

Is there any physical differences between the GPS vs. GPS + Cellular?
First example last year for the Series 3, they gave the GPS + Cellular a ceramic back instead of the cheaper Ion X (?) even though they were both Series 3.
I know that the series 4 includes a ceramic back now standard but is there any cost cutting that Apple did or is it strictly sans cellular with everything identical.

I hope I can buy stainless without cellular but looking at the Series 3 that won't be the case. That's $100+ premium just for the finish if I don't need LTE.
You cannot buy stainless without cellular - the pricing and versions are already up https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-watch/apple-watch

Good lord I have just noticed that ECG is not available on Series 4 in Europe!!
Yeah, only in USA and not even available at launch. You won't get AFib notifications either.

So $100 more instead of $70 for just LTE and no other improvements - they both have ceramic backs now as well. Keep that in mind folks.

If verizon increases prices too much I might consider dropping my iphone and getting the watch with lte, hooking it to my husband’s iphone. I wonder if anyone else does that and if it works.

I'm sure there will be a way of disabling it

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the fall detection feature. If I'm doing an active sport like snowboarding and I happen to fall, will I have to tap my watch every time? I don't want my watch calling my emergency contact for every fall if I happen to not get back up within the allotted minute.

So here in Europe we miss out on the biggest new feature, but we still pay full price? What's the logic behind that?

The Watch will notice if you get back up again, you don't have to tap. The tapping is only if you want to cancel the automated call if you keep laying down for over 1 min. Or at least that's what I got from the keynote.

Which makes me ask, why would anyone buy the $279 series 3 over the wifi only series 4 for $120 more?

More likely the ECG sensor and bigger OLED panel.
that can't possibly add that much extra cost. Maybe 5$ worth. It's either apple premium (no bette time to increase price than a product update) or 25% Chinese import tariffs going into effect.

No. The base 40 mm starts at $699 with the sport band for the stainless model. So it increased a $100.

It’s _not_ called 3D Touch on the Watch, its called ‘force touch’. And there has not been speculation that it’s been removed.
So then they are $749 or $799!! My original Apple Watch in Stainless with sport was $599. I have the 42mm. I wouldn’t get the 40 but would get the 44.

I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you said. The sole reason why the watch became so popular is because the series 1 got super affordable at $179-$199.

The Apple Watch Series 0 was the best selling watching the world by revenues when released. Every Apple Watch since then has just built on that success.

The problem was never Apple Watch sales, it was Apple Watch sales expectations. When the biggest watch companies in the world sell $8B a year of their entire watch lineups and accessories, there was never a chance that the Apple Watch revenues would be anywhere close to iPhone revenues. But some "analysts" never did basic math.

Too thick
Battery life less than one week
No always on display

The same three problems that every watch series seems to have. Don't Apple listen to customer feedback?

Customers could ask for warp drive. Doesn't mean it's possible with current technology.

$699 for 40mm. $749 for 44mm.
Ouch. I’d get the Nike but I have a knock off Link and a knockoff Milanese, and I just don’t think the Aluminim looks as good with those bands. I also like the weight of the Stainless. Are the new Stainless 44 lighter or the same weight as the 42.

On the German Apple site they do not mention EKG at all. I wonder how long it takes to introduce that functionality in foreign markets.
Most likely has to do with regulatory approvals. I’m sure it’s been in the process for some time.

And what will the ECG function accomplish for the average consumer? If it sends them to an ER or clinic, no one there will believe the readings and they will run a battery of expensive tests, at a cost that will dwarf the price of the watch. It also opens Apple to medical liability lawsuits, something no shareholder wants to see.

The key function may be that it gets someone to go to the ER when they otherwise may not know they need to be there.

The phones were underwhelming but I can't wait to preorder a SS watch. They look stunning and they kept compatibility with older bands.
