What are best solutions for a monitor. The 27" on Apple.com is $1,299. I guess my old Apple 27" with Display Port will work, but would like one that charges my laptop to not have to use the supplied charger.

I used to rail hard on Apple for non-upgradeability, but the truth is the industry isn't moving as fast as it used to.

You used to buy, for example, a Powerbook with 128MB of RAM, and in a few years, RAM would become more affordable and you would upgrade it to 1GB. It was a huge difference.

Nowadays, RAM is cheap; it doesn't cost much to max out the machine. Typical memory sizes aren't increasing as fast as they used to, so the need to upgrade RAM in 2-3 years won't be as strong as it was in 2003. So being un-upgradeable is NOT a huge deal. For example, 2013 Macbook Pro 13" still feels like a very capable machine without any upgrades.

Now, one thing that is still a big deal is the non-user-replaceable battery. We tend to keep computers a lot longer than phones, so not having a replaceable battery will be a huge pain eventually.

I agree about the RAM but the issue is why not offer a build for example 32gb to "future proof" the device. Why stick to only 16GB from the start. When I said upgradable I meant during the build. Also the battery is the bigger issue. Eventually it will wear out far faster than anything else.

This is absolute crap!!!!

Apple removes the 3.5mm jack from the iPhone 7 forcing the use of wireless or the Lightning port connected headphones (or the use of some stupid Lighting to 3.5mm converter).

So then consumers go out and purchase Lighting connected headphones and now the arrogant idiots release the new MacBook WITH a 3.5mm audio jack and NO Lighting connector.

Apple just finished telling everyone last month that the 3.5mm jack is a horrible outdated technology and we all should run out and purchase wireless or Lighting connected headphones.

Yeah.... Touch bar isn't gonna be a time saver

You'll have to take your eyes of the screen so often to look down at it that it's less efficient.

I'm actually a little bummed about it to be honest.

Completely agree. For many of the demos of the Touch bar I was thinking to myself about how much it would slow me down having to look down at the keyboard. The offset "Esc" button looks annoying as well. Gonna suck in vi.

If I recall, Lenovo tried something similar a couple years ago and it wasn't well received. Guess we'll see how it goes with Apple.

I'm also not happy Apple is sticking with ATI. OpenCL support in the apps I use is generally lacking or behind CUDA. Windows drivers (for when I'm in Bootcamp) suck and haven't been updated in months. The ATI cards are the worst part of my Mac Pro.

I'm mortified and angry. After so long, we get an emoji bar and bigass bezels on same old Macbooks but nothing about Mac Pros or iMacs. This is nothing, Apple!

No one said they were going to announce anything from the desktop lineup, not sure why you are "mortified and angry."

Apple is slowly prepping us for what's to come, much like they did with the "fake" home button on the iPhone 7.

UGH, they killed off the only laptop with TRUE (12 Hour) ALL DAY BATTERY!

At the end I almost thought they were going to drop the price of the MacBook to $999. Nope!

Overall, nice MacBook Pro's but don't neglect everyone else Apple.
