Firmware just updated on my AirPods Pro, running latest beta on iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPad Pro, and Apple TV. Spatial Audio is working on all three.

Can you/someone else confirm Spatial Audio is available on Apple TV? Read on What-Hifi that Spatial Audio is missing in tvOS. Would be great to have it on Apple TV, as I often watch movies on the Apple TV using AirPods Pro

I want to know the same thing. In addition it does not look like auto switching to and from the Apple TV works either. I got it to work only on the iPhone/iPad. Bit of a shame as I make the most of my Apple TV.

So my AP2 finally updated. I have no idea what made them do it - as I tried so many things - but in the end I just left them alone and 30 mins later they were updated.

I love the audio switch between devices - make it so much easier and you even get a pop-up to tell you the AirPods are now playing on another device.

Position of the sound source in space is not tracked, but this was discussed at the presentation. Waiting for the next IOS 14 beta)

Did you leave the case open while charging, when they updated, or was the case closed? My Pros aren’t updating and I’m not sure which way I should leave them.

I've tried this twice (forget + re-pair) but to no avail. I'm on the latest dev beta. I've tried restarting my phone twice, leaving on charger next to phone, leaving lid open for 15+ minutes, closing lid, putting earbuds in ears, then back in case, etc... seems like I've tried everything. Overall, I've been trying for over an hour. Still stuck on 2D27

🤦‍♂️ Apple needs to add a way to manually update.
Me too. So frustrating to have to wait for the update to do its thing when it decides to.

I wish the HomePod would get the same love for AppleTV that the AirPods get. I can connect my AirPods Pro to my AppleTV and everything works fantastic, system clicks, all programs seem to output sound properly. The HomePods (paired in Stereo mode) on the other hand work like poop. Audio drops when going between apps (Netflix, Plex, Hulu, Amazon Prime) and changes back to HDMI sound, no system audio clicks. Very weird.

Afaik AirPods won't update on a beta version of iOS. My girlfriend got her AirPods Pro replaced and we tried to get 2D15 for hours with an iPhone XS running the public beta.

Paired it to an iPad running iOS 13 and 5 minutes later they were up-to-date.
But iOS 14 is required and there is no 14 GM or release version out, only betas so how would that explain all these people getting the update?

Had my AirPods Pro sync to the phone, charged them for a few and it was updated upon using then. Pretty quick. I’m still on iOS 13, so can’t test these features.

I have a Apple TV HD with TVOS 14 Beta, and it is NOT working, despite working perfectly in my iPhone. Same video, on the TV app, nothing.

Apple today released new 3A283 firmware updates for the second-generation AirPods and the AirPods Pro. The second-generation AirPods are being updated from the 2D15 firmware they were previously running, while the AirPods Pros are being updated from the 2D27 firmware they had installed previously.

Apple does not provide details on what's included in refreshed firmware so we don't know what's included, but we are awaiting new firmware to support iOS 14 features such as automatic device switching and spatial audio for the AirPods Pro.

There's no standard way to upgrade the firmware of the ‌AirPods, with the new firmware installed over-the-air while the AirPods are connected to an iOS device. Putting the ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌ in the case, connecting the ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌ to a power source, and then pairing the ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌ to an iPhone or an iPad should force the update after a short period of time.

You can check your ‌AirPods or AirPods Pro‌ firmware by following these steps:
  • Connect your AirPods or AirPods Pro to your iOS device.
  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap General.
  • Tap About.
  • Tap ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌.
  • Look at the number next to "Firmware Version."
It has been several months since Apple released new firmware updates for the AirPods and the AirPods Pro.

‌‌AirPods Pro‌‌ firmware updates often include performance improvements, bug fixes, and feature tweaks, and if we find notable changes after the firmware updates are installed, we'll add new details to this article.

Updated the firmware, and no spatial until OS14. Hopefully that will arrive tomorrow, and our minds will be officially blown.

I was able to get the iPhone/iPad switching. However, it does not work all the time. Also, it does not work when switching to and from the Apple TV (at least at the moment) which is disappointing.
My Airpods 2 switched from iPhone to iPad just fine the first time, but only that first time. Now it doesn’t at all. WTF
