Nearly a 100 posts about how to update and can’t update and did update but nothing at all about what is different in the update by/ from those who did manage to update …
It's because this advice is nonsense. It worked very quickly for me for the last firmware update using the method suggested in here. And after hours of waiting this time ... nothing.

Only the right AirPod is shown is the SharePlay menu after the firmware update, even if both of them are playing.

Apple hasn’t released a single thing that works properly in the past few months.
This update broke my AirPod Pros. The left channel will not play when connected to my 14" MBP. And, if I insert only the left AirPod in my ear it will play but when I then put the right AirPod in, the left channel cuts out... Have reconnected, repaired, rebooted etc. No joy.

They still work fine with iOS devices.

If only Apple were made to compensate for every time such issues occur. This is public firmware, not even beta. And Apple kissers will defend Apple here trying to talk about the scale of issue. To them, I say just one thing - it is a pair of UNCUSTOMISABLE AirPods that are connecting to Apple hardware that is KNOWN to Apple, running macOS KNOWN to Apple. There is really no excuse of any third-party or any other software interfering with anything here. It’s plain bugginess.

The case has its own firmware. You can see the firmware version if you tap on the firmware version of de AirPods themselves in the iPhone settings menu. Mine is currently 1.3.5 for the AirPods Pro with MagSafe case.

I have been seeing excessive idle case battery drain that just started on my AirPod Pros with the last update, so I'm hoping this update addresses that.

This seems sudden as the last update wasn't that long ago right? Just a few weeks?

I guess you don't read the posts, you just count them.....

Oh yes, these posts are filled with information on what was updated/ changed in the firmware, right?

My post that you are quoting: "....Nearly a 100 posts ..... but nothing at all about what is different in the update...."

Who's the one not reading? ?‍♂️

I may have missed it - please point me to couple of posts in the over 100 here that speak of what was changed in the update - again - this is what I remarked upon, this is what you quoted me on.

First impressions (I listen to these every morning for 4 hours straight with the same songs/playlist)

1. Volume seems a little lower. I have to turn it up higher than I remember (it may be because its not the morning) will check back tomorrow morning to confirm.

2. Sound is more separated, the instruments and vocals have more detail and spacing. I can hear the depth of the instruments and the placement of sound better than before. (audiophiles call this "sound imaging" or "soundstage").

Will listen to them for a few more hours and let you guys know if its placebo or not.
Post #72 o_O:oops::rolleyes:

for the past hour and a half I have listened to my AirPods Pro with the update with my normal routine.

Same songs/playlist.

Volume hasn't changed (reference my previous post "initial impressions")

Soundstage/sound imagining has changed. Vocals are more pronounced and centered, while instruments and background singers/vocals are properly spaced. Instruments are also noticeably spaced.

ANC is slightly different, seems like they allow a little more outside noise through. than before. I can hear the hum of my fans a little more than before.

Battery life TBD, seems normal for now. Will report back later.

Look in the mirror my friend... ?

Well the Item Left Behind/Find My integration with the APPs doesn’t seem to have gotten any better with this update. Got a notification within 10 minutes of leaving this morning with my AirPods in my pocket.

I’m sorry but something about that post hadn’t inspired much confidence in the first place. Can’t take a person with that handle seriously, sorry. That’s why I didn’t remember that there was a post mentioning some change. Funny it proved to be yours. Guess that explains it. Or, it could be that the poster had mentioned they will update later if it’s placebo, so I was looking for more inputs.

Further, my point still stands. IT IS JUST ONE. Over hundred posts, and just one wise guy commenting on what they feel has changed. No other feedback from others who may have managed to update it - that’s the point I was making - need inputs on what’s changed.

I see how this became a sore spot for you. I’m sorry I ignored that post and it turns out it was yours.

Apology accepted. Memory can be faulty at times.

is it hard to say my bad, I missed that? only if you have humility.

I was suggesting that you should go over the thread again and double check your observation. But you didn't want to.

Yes, as someone who actually contributed to things that I believed has changed in the update, I know for sure there was a post "out of 100" that was different. You just didn't double check.

Ignorance is bliss, unless you post it in a public forum....

Update:

The distance for connection is slightly weaker/shorter.

All things being equal, when I go my refrigerator in the mornings I would always have audio/connection.

After this update, my AirPods Pro cut out ~5 feet shorter than before.

Yes, my experience exactly. My Pros sounds much improved. Brighter, better separation. They were great before now 4C165 is noticeably better. Dark Side of the Moon is my go to for audio testing. I cannot say exactly what forced the update I tried pretty much everything suggested. After listening to them for 30 secs and they and the case were updated. I came from like 3 vers back so I am very happy. Heck, I was very pleased with them before. Now just more so. Just do this you too will be happier …

Oh you poor bumptious fellow, you keep missing the point. I keep speaking about lack of inputs, you keep talking about the lone input - yours. Go ahead, throw your weight on the Disagree button and let’s call it a day on the discussion.

It was my mistake, I didn’t see ONE input in a hundred and said there’s a lack of inputs. Clearly this thread is filled with inputs.

My eyes are going bad and I can’t see anything apart from one input from you before I remarked, then two more from you after we engaged in this tomfoolery and one corroboration of your input from someone else. That’s all I can see in a sea of posts that you and I are adding to unnecessarily because of the importance you attach to one input in the whole thread - yours.

How long have you had your AirPods for? Have you experienced a gradual borking of ANC with each firmware update too, as mentioned by members in other threads?

I have compared both versions of AirPods Pro and they sound exactly the same, your thinking of a plecebo

I do not remember if there was a post about this already. The reported firmware version did not change in Settings after the update until I played audio.

My Pro's have updated, still sound the same and still no improvements to the ANC, shame we cant go back :(

I'd swap any/all of these new features (Spatial/Background sounds etc etc) we have now for that first version.

Can’t wait to see what this forced update breaks this time. Words can’t describe how much I loathe some of the things about Airpods. More than anything, I hate the low battery alert.
