Add a photo/video camera, and I'm buying it!

I don't care about spec bumps, or dropped prizes, software updates on iPod Touches. Nano isn't for me. Classic isn't for me. iPhone isn't for me.
I don't care about "iPod Touch has a camera" rumors being materialized or not.

iPod Touch with a photo/video camera is the KILLER!

Simple. I will buy 2-3 iPod Touches when they add a photo/video camera on it. Until then bye-bye iPod Touch! Period.

I was waiting to buy an iPod Nano. Wow, now I get one with a movie camera!!!

I for one am happy.....:D

Why all this whining?

I have an iPhone 3GS and I love it.

I just ordered a new 16GB nano and I will love it.

For all those whiners out there....sucks to be you!!!

Whining? This happens EVERY iPod Refresh. Even the 2007 updates which had arguably the biggest updates in the iPod Line ever.

Touch will never be like iphone....

You pay monthly for iphone but you get 3G streaming everywhere!

You don't have to look for wifi spots... Go listen to slacker/pandora/last.fm in the car with ipod touch.... see if you can... lol

Oh and GPS.... without gps...well, it's pretty much useless ... tons of GPS applications and now navigation apps too....

so don't BS yourselves saying... it's iphone without the monthly fee.... Not even close!

The iPod Touch is an iPhone without the phone, GPS and camera, and the $99 a month fee. It's quite close.

So when I continue to talk on my company provided Blackberry, and listen to music, surf the web, and watch movies on my iPod touch, all the while saving $2400 over the two year period, I'll be buying a new MacBook in two years, whereas you'll be left with.......a two year old iPod touch with a built-in phone, GPS, and camera. :D

Is it possible to use iphone without service plans?

Is it possible to use iphone without phone service plans and without paying the 30 bucks per month for data plans? If yes, then I will buy the iPhone, I think.

I already posted a thread about that in the iPhone section. It will end up costing you around $700 for a 32GB model.

The iPod Touch is a supplementary device to those who already have a cell phone. The iPod Touch does not replace the iPhone or do battle with it, it however works quite nicely for those of us [like me] that already have a phone that have features complimentary to the advantages the iPhone holds over the iPod Touch.

Why people continue to compare the two is mind blowing, they are in two different demographics. One is for someone looking for a phone with some extras and another is more media/game focused.

Lets not forget the upgrade limitations you are stuck in with the iPhone.

Exactly the Touch is an iPhone w/ the phone. Some of us don't have company provided phones or can't use them for personal use. We need a phone anyway, and last I checked, just about any smartphone is $80/mo min. So why not an iPhone. Clearly many, many people see the value vs. it being $2400 down the rat hole. Personally, I find it invaluable and I'd also hate to have to carry two devices around. Yuck.

I just don't get it. Why can't people be happy with the new iPods? Of course there are always price drops. Of course there are always performance boosts and/or speed gains, or faster or better parts that help the device do its job, better each time? Of course, people are always upset because the NEW iPod is better/faster/has more memory than their existing one... If there were to release a new product with the same features as an existing product... why release a new product in the first place? I thought new products were supposed to include new things and be better.

Why aren't people happy with the current (newly released) iPods? WHY? WTH are people expecting from the darn things? iPods are MEDIA PLAYERS! Remember whey they started? They were strictly MUSIC players. Monochrome screen, a tiny hard drive, no games, no pictures, no video, no wireless, no apps... The rest of the features eventually came on the new ones, but in the end - they are still media players!

Not happy because iPods "x". Not happy because iPods don't do "y". Not happy because Apple doesn't know how to be innovative anymore. Not happy because the iPods aren't free.

I don't see them making any "major" changes to the iPod lines, but rather subtle upgrades and addition of features. They are sticking to what works for them, and the current model of iPods seem to work fine. Why do they have the largest market share? Because it works. No need to reinvent the wheel. The more you ask for, the more issues you are asking for.

Geez. Normally I don't like to rant, but... am I missing something here? What does Apple need to do? Reinvent the wheel?

Yeah but those two devices will out perform your all in one device any time of the week...specifically battery life. If I were to put my usage of my iPod into an iPhone, plus use the 3G network, plus texting, plus phone conversations, it wouldn't last half a day.

Why not a iPhone you ask?
- As previously mentioned some people already have their phone that works fine for their needs, are already in a contract, or don't want to bother switching.
- AT&T sucks in the persons area
- Two independent devices = better battery life

I hardly consider carrying two devices that both weigh less than a pound a pain, but we all have our preferences.

this music event was totally failed. I never pissed on Apple no matter what it was. but this time, with economy depressed, they even removed some required bundle as well. what I really don't understand is why the hell they removed 16GB capacity? do you think that it makes sense? 8, 32, 64GB? something is weird. what did they get crack and cocaine? actually, what new nano has camera is little out of sense than what new ipod touch might get. because after recording videos, you can't upload them immediately through air. you must connect with itunes, then itunes will do that for when new ipod touch (if it gets camera) just uploads through wifi so easily just like iphone. this event has been failed. so what's new features on ipod touch (even can we call that 3rd gen. touch?)? voice control, Open GL stuff, new capacity.... is that all? I used to buy new ipod every year no matter what it was. but this time, I will skip all for the first time on Apple product. come on! Apple. is that what ever you can do for customers?

Lots of biatching...oh well

I'm happy to be getting a 64gb Touch! I'd love if it shipped tomorrow so I could have it for the weekend!

Read gizmodo's blog on what **** Steve Job's said about a lack of a camera on ipod touch, and keep in mind the nintendo DSi has a camera.

http://gizmodo.com/5355959/steve-jobs-gives-his-reasons-for-lack-of-camera-in-ipod-touch

I think it is a lame explanation.

Sounds just as lame as the explanation to drop the dual platter classic "because people like thinner". Which is ridiculous because quite frankly those that like the classic aren't going to care how big it is...if they did they'd opt for a nano or something else.

The new iPod Nano looks extremely attractive to me now. I might ask for one for Christmas. The only reason I don't want it is it's only 16GB and it can't run iPod Touch apps. But the iPod Touch looks a tad too expensive

was going to buy the new 4gb shuffle for my car

i was going to upload my song library to it and then buy a tape adapter but the new shuffle is awful, putting the buttons on the headphones is ridiculous

luckily apple still has some 2gb refurbs from last generation which will suit me just fine

was also dissapointed in the new ipod touch, really wish they had a 100+gb option

These back and forth debates of "AT&T sucks" and "I don't know what you're problem is, AT&T works great" are all anecdotal. However, given the amount of press that has been given to crappy AT&T service, along with the noise about it on various social networking sites, I'd say that AT&T customers are generally more dissatisfied than Verizon or T-Mobile customers. Just do a Google search.

Or even a simple answer just look at the Consumer Reports rating for this year. Yeah some have an issue with the magazine but you still have to think it holds some truth.

One of the things that always drove my bananas about Apple's updates was they would update one thing but not update the other.

I'll gladly carry a flip phone from Verizon or T-Mobile and actually get a signal, as well as use my iPod Touch.

The iPhone is a great device, no doubt. But it's a great device saddled with a piss poor network. My opinion? Sure. But something tells me I'm not alone.

In the real world, the biggest disappointment was no Beatles news, believe it or not.

But fret not thyself, I'm sure there's a Zune HD somewhere with your name on it.

Apple never promised a camera. In fact, Apple never promised anything, other than unspecified updates to the iPod line. And that is exactly what happened.

You have Macrumors, Appleinsider, and the rest of the Apple fansites on the ass-end of the net to blame. And yourself of course, for getting taken in by the rumors.

It's funny you say that the unlimiteds are crap.

My sister has Boost Mobile's unlimited $50 a month plan. She always gets service where I do not.

The other day I was all over the greater LA area. City of Industry, Covina, Whittier, even into the Inland Empire in Rancho Cucamunga, and other cities. I spent more time without a signal than I did with one. And its not just my iPhone, but the iPhones of every one I know that currently owns one. The worst part is that when I had Verizon before switching to AT&T for the iPhone, I had a full five bar signal in every single one of those places I visited the other day with a phone that was free with a two year contract.

You know whats even funnier? Apple has an Apple Store in Rancho Cucamunga. The Victoria Gardens Apple Store. It's a nice store, though small and extremely crowded. Inside the store you get a full 5 bar signal with the iPhone thanks to whatever "Femtocell" or signal repeaters they have. Walk out into the parking lot right next to the JC Penny and your signal drops from 5 bars to 2 or even 1.

in this area they are, Boost is REALLY bad here. For fun I used them right before I got my iPhone and it was horrible. It took 1-2 mins just to send a text message. As I said 3 antenna Vs. 12 hhmm yea I see the difference.
As I said before, No cell phone carrier will for from coast to coast 100% of them time.. EVER.. Now Boost does have 1 up on most unlimited, they use Sprints network. Now saying that, I don't think Sprint is great in this area. I had them in the past and was able to break my contract without paying a ETF because I was able to prove to them I had no signal where I needed it.
We all know no matter what Apple or AT&T does you won't be happy.
