wonder if they've fixed the problem of it dragging internet speeds down..? Took mine back after a single day last year.

I did just that on July 1st. Figured since the update it got at MacWorld was the first one in a year, we were stuck at these capacities/pricepoints for another year...go figure.

happens to everyone from time to time.

if you need it, but it.

if you don't, wait.

While it's "cool" that they've increased the storage, will these be any cooler than the previous models? Mine has an array of old CPU heat sinks sitting on top of it, and it still gets really warm. Now it's started performing inconsistently....

refurb

It'll be interesting to see how low the refurb's go. At this point, those haven't been affected. (Eg. the 500GB is still $149 and the 1TB is still $399???)

Personally, I like the idea of the 500GB, and then swapping out the drive for a 1TB+ drive. If it drops below $149, I may have to bite.

Looks like the refurbished prices are still not updated considering a refurbished 1TB would cost $100 more than a brand new one... I would imagine that the refurbished 1TB will take the price point of $199 that the 500GB has now. And I would guess that the 500GB will become something like $149.

If it drops all the way to $99 I'll snatch one up real fast.

This basically changed the price point from "WTF!? Is this a joke??!" to "Meh, kind of expensive."

Which is where they were when it was introduced.

I don't get why Apple has such a hard time lowering prices on existing products. Anybody with even a fifth of a clue knows what a ripoff 1TB at $500 was.

I think I'm just going to buy one of HPs MediaSmart home servers. Their intergration with both Macs and iPhones seems far more "complete". The only real competitor on the Apple lineup is the mini with an external drive array in terms of raw functionality.

Still, I'd rather see an iTunes Server than 2TB Time Capsule..

+1 as well. I just finished backing up my entire DVD library to H.264 files, clocks in at about 1.2TB. I'd love to have an Apple TV for it, but it's inconvenient to keep my iTunes library on an external hard drive attached to my MBP. An iTunes server would be full of Win.

Specific to Time Capsule though.... Geez, can you imagine how long it would take to back up a full terrabyte over a wifi connection???

I might upgrade my Time Capsule. Not only more storage but don't forget the dual band capability as well.

For mere mortals, easy and linux are two words that just don't go together. :D

We want a nice simple Apple solution that does all the hard work for you. ;)

Hehe, point taken ;) You could also get a Mac Mini and share iTunes on that, or some cheap computer and install the windows :)o) or mac gui version of mt-daapd / firefly on there.

Nice upgrade apple. Now I have to go pick up a 2 TB model.

Can you please add synchronized itunes and iphoto libraries to that request. Itunes is ok with super sync but I copy the entire iphoto library each time (don't trust rsync that much yet).

Wireless fluctuations, Ive never had a wireless system operate at full speed.

Yeah but this is not the fault of Apple (for once). Really? You will discount a perfectly fine product, albeit overpriced, because your wireless network sucks balls? Mine is awesome but not consistently. I'd still consider a TC all the same.

5 macs in the house

and this will help. But for the first backup I will have to plug em all into wired connections, over wifi the first backup never seems to finish.

One thing I hate is that for my Mac Pro with parallels installed it is constantly backing up new images of the windows drive which are huge files. Wish there was some way to get that incrementally instead, but with the ease of TM.
