What exactly will the M5 version of this do that the M2 version doesn't? Ignoring numbers on charts and benchmarks, real world use. Anyone know yet?

I'm not buying either one, just curious.

Just what is up with all this negativity on this one device? It’s beyond reason, especially from a few people. It seems most of it are from people who never used it or even went into a store to try it. Why don’t you just say it, “I want it so bad, but I can’t afford it; and I am so jealous I can’t see straight, so the only thing I can do is come here and bash it and the people who have it.”

Yes! It's a tradition here, going back 20 years. It helps some people feel good being able to stick it to the Man.

Preordered mine. What sold me is the 120hz and 10% more pixels I am hoping it makes the virtual displays sharper and pass through sharper as that was my biggest complaint about the first gen. If its not much better ill return it and buy a used 1st gen for less than 2k
Agreed! I just want better passthrough and a 20% weight reduction please.

I'm looking forward to your assessment/review.

Glad they went with the M5 and not the M4 as rumored. Since this sounds like the last headset for awhile, going with the latest SoC will give this version some additional longevity.

For those that don’t know, when Apple was developing what would become the iPad, they at one point shelved it to focus on the iPhone instead, and then came back to it. I anticipate that’s what’s going to happen with the Vision Pro. They’ll focus on glasses for a few years, then take what they learn into the a future headset.

Well, colour me surprised. Maybe. Definitely looking forward to reviews now: I wonder how much the increased fidelity, more comfortable headband, and M5 add to the package. I’m still doubtful that this will be for me but I’m much less doubtful than I was yesterday…

I won't ever purchase one on these unless they release a " budget" version that is maybe like 1K or $1,300 something like that lol. Or I buy a used gen 1 version after a few years that drops down to this price point.

Should I get the lenses if I do not wear glasses but I do see better with one eye in medium-long distance when using glasses. I have a prescription (UK).

You can get a like new one on ebay for 1.6k-1.9k fairly easily
Is passthrough still 720P?
Apple said 10% more pixels so heres hoping for an improvement. That and if the virtual displays can get close to my monitors fidelity.

Ah, I own 2 other VR headsets, I've tried the Apple Vision Pro demo, I don't want it "so bad" because it's bad, I can easily afford it, and I'm not "so jealous I can't see straight". I diss the AVP because it's an awful product.

Put all of this tech into a pair of nice looking prescription glasses and I’ll gladly pay $299 for it!
I think Meta Ray-Ban might be more your speed. Then again, those don’t have all this tech, so I guess even those can’t meet your demands.

The Apple tax will make their version of Smart Glasses at least double the price of Meta’s, I’d imagine.

That’s a fun wish, though.

Yeah, waited sooo long. Already ordered. Foundation, Severance, Alien, Andor... many TV shows to watch during winter: Hopefully an option to watch netflix too? And I have to find some 3D movies.
you can watch every streaming service including Netflix in safari, and you can even fast forward commercials on them. its ideal. Don't use apps unless there's dedicated ones
