Something must have opened up as an hour and half in, I was able to get in store for Feb 3. Initially it was all 3 storage sizes, but after cart it was only the 2 larger sizes.

And the scalpers are out in force. Check Ebay. It's already loaded with offers from $4500 to $8K "shipping out as soon as in hand." Hello PS5 (shortage), part 2.
Except that these will remain in the scalpers' hands. Those enthusiasts that wanted it will have already placed an order, general public is not hot on this.

We'll see. This product is going to be "in the wild" in a few weeks. What it is able to do is about to be spelled out in very clear ways from abundant sources, first via "friends of Apple" influencers... but then soon after by real buyers offering uninfluenced reviews, spelling out all good & bad.

All of the pessimism imagination that it is for no one is already disproved by apparently MANY someones buying some number of them already. And all of the pessimism spin of uselessness, solution in search of a problem, etc is about to be put to the actual test in the real world, in completely tangible ways.

Is this iPod PRO MAX MAX? Is this Mac Cube? TBD... but it WILL be determined in the coming weeks & months as hard reality replaces extremist imaginations. I look forward to very clearly seeing what it can actually do vs. passing hard & final judgement before even one is "in the wild" and in use. And my own eyes will do the judging instead of a pile of stranger's guesses about vapor.

There may- in fact- be towards nothing here... or it may be the "next big thing." My own guess: reality will fall somewhere between the two. Where? Nobody can know yet because it's not yet FEB 2 or later.

Your same post could be written about the PS5 a couple of years ago. The scalper units did not "remain in scalper's hands." For about 15+ months just about the only way to get a PS5 was to pay the premium. As soon as Apple has no more of this to sell direct, up to the rest of 2024+ supply may only be available from scalpers. If someone wants one at that point, the ONE choice of supply will be charging much more than retail. Those who refuse to pay will have to do without until Apple can catch up with demand again... rumored to be somewhere out in 2025-2026 or beyond.

No I don't like it... nor did I like it with PS5. But that world doesn't care about how I feel... only if they can make a quick upsell buck(s), recoup their "cost" or- worst case for them- give it a while and if it doesn't sell, open the box and enjoy their own Vpro in hand.

My store is still showing 2/2 delivery. What gives?

I think it depends on the Light Seal size.

After I purchased mine (face scanned that matches me a 35W Light Seal), I tried to go through the pre-ordering process again several times just for the curiosity of how the delivery date slips, but then I found that the Light Seal size is not always the same. Sometimes I get 25W (I think that’s when my face is closer), sometimes 33W, and once a 35N or something like that.

In my zip code, I found that the 33W one is already slipped to mid March delivery (and not available in my closest Apple Store), but the 35W one still delivers in early February (and available in my nearest store).

Weird, I did it 3 times and got the same result every time.

And I can't imagine availability depends on the size of the light seal—it would be idiotic for Apple to have devices available but not sellable because a piece of fabric isn't the right size. I would think the pieces are separate, just like how the Watch band is in a separate box from the actual device.

Got 3. 2 to sell and 1 to keep, hopefully paid for by the profits from the first 2.

Worst case they get returned and I get to play around with one at home for a few weeks before sending them back. Zero risk.
You're a scalper and you even brag about it!!
You deserve a swear word.

Did anybody else in California only see an option for February 8 delivery no matter what? Right as the app opened too. It’s not a big deal just wondering, I never saw any other option than that.

hoping that it’ll bump up to preparing to ship with the first batch, fingers crossed
I'm in California, and I ordered two, both with a February 6 delivery.

:D these scalpers will learn a lesson or two really soon. The hard way. Absolutely no one's gonna buy these for $8k.

When the dust settles and reality kicks in, I really hope Apple will even offer discounts, so that these clowns will even make a loss with this :D
Unfortunately, neither things are gonna happen this time either.

For certain electronics, I get why scalpers can resell; you have a device that is Out of stock and have no way of buying. Apple, though, just pushes back delivery, and you know you are gonna get one. Scalper are gonna be outta luck lol

Scalpers are going laugh all the way to the bank, mhm. Enjoy your negative -$266 profit and the 1099 tax on the overall sale that’ll dent you even more next year.

I had the same problem...it was due to your selected time window being grabbed and processed by someone else before your transaction was completed. I started with early day windows on Feb 2 but they quickly went, ended up with 2 pm on Feb 2.
Music venue and sports venue online ticket ordering does this as well, you'll be ordering your ticket for a selected area that states is currently available, go to complete and it will say the selected area is no longer available and to select somewhere else. I've had this happen to me a couple of times for sporting venue, I select one of the 'good' seats, go to complete and it says that seat is no longer available and to select another one. By the time it allowed me to select a seat that was actually available, only not so good seating locations was available. Never ordered in the end.

I think there are enough wealthy people around the world to drain the eBay of AVP pretty fast, at double (or more) the cost.

US region limits are quite easy to circumvent. For example I have an US Apple ID, even though I have never lived in the US.

However, most of my essential Apple devices, services and content are on a non-US Apple ID. So I don't see a point buying AVP on eBay.

Yet the wealthier you are, and a tech lover, buying an AVP just for trying it out and for "bragging rights" is a non-issue for many even at $9.500.

I tried another 20+ times, and I found that besides some rare odd results, I mostly get 33W/35W/25W results.

For the headband, I do get the same results all the time (M).

And yes, I believe the Light Seals are separate pieces because it is available for purchase separately ($199), so you can easily change it. I just hope they have enough in stock so if I find that the size doesn’t fit, I can easily do a swap. I’ll pick up at my local Apple Store, so I’ll figure it out by then.

Well that will be a big problem then... hopefully they are holding back some light seal inventory. Otherwise, you use the scan to order, it's not the right size to work properly, and then you are stuck with a $3500 product you can't use for months...
The Light Seals are available separately, so I hope they have enough in stock for exchange, if mine doesn’t fit.
