My ApplePay using AppleCard transaction failed 7 times. Each time it failed it made me pick a new appointment time. When I finally changed credit cards I had been moved from Feb2 at 11:00am to February 3 at 4pm. I checked with the AppleCard people and they said there were no declined transactions. It appears maybe it was an ApplePay issue on the Apple Store side. Did anybody else see this problem?
Mine went through without issue. 👍🏻

I think the PS5 shortage during Covid is a close analogue. What ultimately resolved the scalping there is Sony being able to make many more units to overcome that long period of scarcity. That's what it will take here too. Hopefully, the key part rumor was only a rumor and that Apple is able to bring more manufacturers online quickly if demand warrants it. I hope so.
But I push back on the demand aspect of it. PS5 was a next generation console… priced reasonable well for the average consumer.

I don’t think the demand will reach PS5 levels that requires Apple to output more Vision Pros, the target market for this technology are for early adopters and developers.

Preordered about 1.5hr after launch for Feb 8 local pickup but now I’m seeing availability for Feb 3-4th pickup at the same store as well as another one down the street. Anyone know if it’s too late to change to this earlier pickup date after placing the pre-order?

Your guess about this is as good as mine. I lean more positive than you but grant that you very well could be right. Hopefully you have the capacity to consider the vice versa guess. We'll both see soon enough together... no goggles required.

I believe Apple could box air and sell out of air to fans who WILL buy anything. I even believe a few of those fans who then accidentally run out of Apple air might opt to just smother to death instead of breathing inferior, regular air. So while this first batch could easily be bought out by such enthusiastic fans and then demand plunges after all have their "air", I suspect this product will sell beyond fanatic fans.

And while 1 persons feelings are not representative of anything- not the often spun 99% or even 1%- I am certainly NO blind brand fanboy myself (I opt to not even own "the precious" (iPhone)), I lean quite positive on this product and see much potential for it... even at a seemingly crazy-high price... even if Meta, Microsoft, Google etc has not been able to make this space a monster, mass-market success, etc.

Again, TBD. Now that it's launched, we'll all get to see how it plays out in reality instead of our very optimistic or very pessimistic imaginations... and the imaginations of others at both extremes or somewhere in between.

Out of curiosity, I checked eBay and looked at "sold" listings. There are a few for 4k+ that sold...however...after looking more, the listings either were ended or relisted. Meaning the "demand" for resell is just scalpers trying to make it look like people are buying them when they are not lol

It still shows it's available for pickup on launch day for me. Not that I would ever buy one of these things, I just want to see how the demand is.
Seems like for how few apple is rumored to have available on pre-order, the demand is below average. Most stores I’ve seen still have pick up within first week of launch. Maybe Apple’s just allocating more stock for stores over online orders, which now ships first week of march which isn’t bad considering it’s almost 3 hours now post release.

I have no horse in the race. I do think the technology is dope… but it’s priced for a certain market (not necessarily for the average consumer) and because it’s launch date is within the OLED iPad Pro I plan on going with the iPad.

Did anyone else have trouble scanning their head? It took me like 10 times before I was able to scan my head and so the delivery date slipped to February 6, but I opted for in-store pick up and got February 2nd! I got up and took a shower and everything but my iPhone 15 Pro Max had a lot of trouble scanning my head! lol

Hmm. No issues on my end. I used a Pro Max also and was a bit worried because I was sitting on a plane. But no problems at all, both scans went right through.

Yes. Also I went to start the order for the zeiss inserts which did a rescan and it told me I needed a different light seal. Hoping just to properly fit the inserts and not because it is bad at measuring my head.

Did anybody else in California only see an option for February 8 delivery no matter what? Right as the app opened too. It’s not a big deal just wondering, I never saw any other option than that.

hoping that it’ll bump up to preparing to ship with the first batch, fingers crossed
Nope. I actually slept through my alarm got on 15 minutes late and ordered with feb 2 delivery Sacramento.

Remember when Quest Pro came out and people were like "I'm getting 50 of these for our office meetings bro" and got angry when I said nobody will be wearing these in workplaces. Anyway everyone is still working at PC's just like they always have been, and I have never seen anyone, anywhere, wear one to work.

Same for the Vision Pro. Its literally an expensive toy for people with money to throw away. Even if you could run everything you needed to work inside one of these things, it's not going to happen because of battery life, weight, sweatiness, nausea, exclusion. Yep exclusion, because despite the passthrough cameras you are still going to look like a complete melon standing there having a conversation with a group of people.

The tech looks really nice, and people say that it's a much better experience than the Quest, but it's a toy for people with lots of money. Probably the same people who ordered a Cybertruck.

I’m noticing after placing my order (feb 16th delivery), I went back there just now (3 hours later) to look at additional delivery times. And noticed march delivery dates but ALL stores in my area had stock for Feb 2nd.

I pondered for a while to put another order in for pickup and then cancel my original order, but hesitated. Later, I went back in and the options to pick up were no longer available, in ALL stores.

Either this is a glitch, or some sort of inventory fulfillment algorithm is making them available intermittently.

So, if you slipped on your February launch date, I suggest you keep checking every once in a while!

Again, I don't know. In the early 2000s, I was certainly not rich and probably wouldn't be considered "a certain market" but laid out this much money for a Powerbook G4 with 2 hours of battery life... and also purchased extra batteries to buy more time than 2 hours. There was ABUNDANT established alternative laptops at the time that cost MUCH less than that... but I wanted THAT one bad enough to come up with the money, buy it and enjoy it. I certainly could have been an oddball, relatively poor guy who put it all on this one, "out of proportion" purchase... but then when out and about, I noticed many others who didn't exactly look elite, flying with me in Coach, using the same Powerbook G4s.

There are smart phones priced down towards about $100 these days. They text & function as phone and browse the web, run apps, etc just as readily as iPhone... but I see people of apparently limited means with iPhones everywhere... and many with top tier iPhones than older or bottom end models. I recently saw an apparently homeless guy begging for money on the streets talking to someone on his iPhone (3 cameras on the back of it).

If the average consumer wants to splurge, they will splurge. I've seen people driving Cadillacs in the line for free Gov cheese. I've seen obviously not rich people carting gigantic screen TVs I know cost far more than cheap gigantos out of Best Buy. I've sold very high-priced products to people who seemed were reaching far beyond what made sense for their situation, income, etc. I see minimum wage workers with the fancy nails, lashes, etc that require a fairly sizable amount of spend to maintain.

So again, we'll see what the average Joes do. Maybe none will buy at all? Or maybe many will covet yet another product that seems to be "for the rich" but not priced so high that they can't possibly get one if even the low-income guy tried. This is not multi-million dollar homes or yachts. It's basically mid-priced MBpro pricing. It's only $1500 more than an ASD with stand option. iPhone PRO MAX fold will probably be at this price within the next 10 years... and I suspect people will be falling all over themselves to buy it at that price in 2034 or so.

Still the best selling AVP ever. 😉

Guys!!!! I was right. They are trickling inventory through the stores. If you want launch day and are willing to pick up, do this!!

In the app. go to the configuration page for the Vision Pro. Select all your choices.

Then you’ll get a delivery estimate and pickup option at the top.

Then if it says unavailable for pickup, keep touching different sizes until the pickup option says it’s available! Then pick your size and checkout asap!!! That’s how I did it!

And although I have all the apple tech (15 PM, 12.9 6th gen 2 TB iPad Pro, 16 inch M2 Pro MacBook Pro and AirPods Max this is out of my middle class pension from state of Illinis (5800 month ) would take one paycheck to own one if I could find a need. It is a toy a cool one but my current tech is awesome and I am happy and living outside this part of the apple reality distortion field LOL
