Black eyes? That seems like a gigantic stretch, and the sort of thing that the 1 lb AVP could not do if fitted properly.
“I’m just supposed to swing this at my face over and over until I can’t stand it?”
“ABSOLUTELY, that’s how you get the best MR out of the AR!”
“OUCH! I hit my eye!”
“It’s working!”
“It’s starting to swell.”
“That’s your body acclimating to the VR! Now swing it in the other direction.”
“OW! MY OTHER EYE!”

lol the media. 100 people and 99 say 0 issues 1 person says issue. Where do you think the mics are going to?
Someone said that the reddit thread this came from didn’t even have that many posts.

So, if 100,000 say no issues and a few folks, that we don’t even know actually OWN AVP’s, says there’s an issue, well, the clickfish is out there and hungry already all we need now…

Did a 20 minute demo a few months ago at the Apple Store of the Vision Pro headset. And I can tell you by the end of the demo, the front of my head right above my eyes hurt like hell. At that point, I decided I’m gonna wait until they make the device more comfortable.

There are likely more than 100,000 X more people experiencing problems with OLED iPhones — but every big media site won’t dare bring attention to it

Had the same issue, pain that went from upper cheek area to my upper teeth…. Would hurt my teeth when i clench them together.
Discomfort was the main reason I returned the VP. here’s hoping a lighter maybe titanium model is made soon

Apple usually have a good handle on the appearance too.. I think this is one aspect they should have looked at more. I wonder what research they did when finding a design people liked...

Another question would be... what on earth were the other options they considered, if its the best one they had 😂
They made a pro machine before that looked like a trashcan. This is a “pro” device.

I reckon they have a number of models in the pipeline as manufacturing develops…if this is aimed at industry more than everyone else then they have some flexibility with how design is perceived. I bet within 3 generations we will see something more akin to glasses aimed at the general public. And probably at a cheaper buy in point.

Ah yes well done Apple because you never test products for hours of use and just test 5 mins here and there when designing the product..

I have a feeling that the next version will minimize weight and pressure on the head.

Very much a gen 1 product.

Though I doubt I’ll ever see the need for anything VR.

Apple Newton looks on from a ratty old couch positioned in the furtherest, darkest corner of the basement at Apple HQ. It smiles at Apple Vision Pro, who has just been led into the same dark and dusty room by a low-level Apple employee.

"Hello, Apple Vision Pro," it says. "Come, have a seat."

Seems like BEFORE they sell these things they would test these things in house well up to a year before full production began. to iron out the bugs and deal with issues like these. Expensive toy.

Do you even know the risks of Apple employees testing these devices for hours? It would result in work related injuries and complaints from employees to OHSA and FECA. Apple would need to pay millions. Apple let the users test them and decide whether it needs improvement.

I haven't tried the VP yet, but experience with eyeglasses tells me it would be a problem. I'd need the lens inserts, which is going to add weight to an already heavy hardware item. I started with glass lenses and they caused moderate pain on both the bridge of my nose, and worse behind my ears. The problem was solved when I got a pair of glasses with polycarbonate lenses, which cut the weight by more than half. I'm going to wait on it until miniaturization allows a much lighter end product. And cheaper, too.

Like all brand new Apple devices, the first gen isn't for everyone- and this one is super niche. But Apple needs to start somewhere, get it out there for people to start using so they can see what to change. It's like the first iPhone- EVERYONE lambasted it because it was expensive AF with NO KEYBOARD. Yeah, that product ended up being a complete failure /s

“You’re wearing it wrong”. But just think how much it’s saving you in gym fees.

A helmet form factor with a flip down visor would eliminate the weight and black eye issue. Yeah it would be heavier, but the weight would be distributed over the entire head. In every SciFi show, it's always a VR helmet, never googles.

The neck pain is most likely from bad posture. Heck, I have neck pain from sitting at a desk all day--and that's without the added weight of a VR google.
