You make it sound like the only thing customers will get for their $3499 is a 256gb stick of memory. You do realize they'll be getting a state of the art AR/VR headset with that 256gb, right? I'm guessing that's where the majority of the $3499 is going.
No because they haven’t showed us yet. They released a video, are we supposed to be sold on it?

Do we even understand what Vision Pro uses the storage for?

I may be wrong, but it would seem like the storage is designed for the OS + cache, while all the actual storage happens in the cloud or on your other Apple devices.
Sure, and you are gonna stream everything with that horrendous battery life.

What is that ugly quest looking strap thing? Where’s the one They’ve been advertising forever?
Kinda funny they held up showing that strap in all the previous advertisement but even the journalists and developers were given one for testing. They just didn’t want to show how ugly it looks.

No, you're not hallucinating.

However many people (certainly here at MacRumours) did expect a pre-release event.

*shrug*
That’s because they did a really bad job. You don’t do a video to demo a new product. People expect and actual demonstration, not a prerecorded video, that’s really f lazy.

It ships with both the Solo band (the one used in marketing) and the Duo band (the new one with headstrap)

I think the reality is that the weight isn’t quite where Apple want it and you will likely want to use the Duo if you’re wearing it for any length of time. A different version of the Duo was briefly shown in the launch video (essentially a head strap added to the Solo) but it seems the design has changed.

Apple wants everyone to use iCloud, so it makes perfect sense for them to encourage their users to save their spatial photos and videos to the cloud. Plus, people talking about downloading movies, the future is streaming, not downloading and storing. I get it, you might want a couple movie’s while you’re on a plane. Cool. 256GB is plenty for a couple movies on a plane. The storage is a non-issue if you stick to iCloud and streaming for the most part. The storage is mainly for the apps, and unless Apple decides to get really into high-end games (yeah right), 256GB should accommodate plenty of apps.

We know more than enough of what it can do. What would an event really show you that the other didn’t? 1 million apps will be available at launch. What they showed off will work in feb.
1 million ipad/iphone apps. Which I have 0 interest in. The only relevant apps on the AVP to me are apps designed specifically for the hardware, that offer new/compelling use-cases. And Apple has esentially shown 0 of those.

It's so weird the way people look at the price and then look at the storage and then pass judgement. You don't have any idea what you're even going to do with this thing. You have no idea if storing large media or content ON the device is even a practical necessity. For all you know 256 GB is more than enough for all forms of usage of this device. It's not a Mac, or even an iPad. It's basically a fancy monitor. How much storage is it really going to need when it can just stream content from the internet or from other devices around you?

Looks like I'm waiting for the consumer model then. This thing should've been at minimum 512gb especially since it's running an M2 chip. Asking $3500 for 256gb is laughably insulting especially when you can get a Meta Quest headset with 256gb at 1/7 the cost.

Edit: Dislike me all you want but $3500 for 256gb in a "pro" product is asinine, especially when Apple's entering a market that is already niche with much more affordable options. You wanna spend $3500 for that little specs be my guest, but I'm waiting for the consumer model since i know damn well there's gonna be something first gen curse related with this thing that the consumer model will address

How about you describe how the experience will suffer with 256Gb storage compared to 512 Gb storage.

At least they learned on PSVR2 where 2nd loop band is required to operate properly

Apple provides everything except telling us why anyone would need this. I think they are counting on some dystopian future where it is preferable to bury your head in this thing rather than in real life.
Ironic that for a product called Vision Pro, Apple has zero vision for it. Their argument is that the spatial experience is "reason enough". That's it. The spatial experience is supposed to justify that it runs baby iPad apps. It's supposed to justify wearing a giant, world-isolating, wall-tethered headset. It's supposed to justify an outrageous price point.

Spatial experience alone doesn't justify any of that.

An event for what? It already had its event.
It was presented at a developers conference. Sure, the average customer might not be the person who buys this product but still. Apple likes to show off third party apps before launch to incentive purchases. There were no public hands-on videos yet. It's clearly a different launch compared to other products.
