I wish there was an option to have the watch stay on when you glance at it, for like maybe 30 seconds. The slightest twitch of my wrist will sometimes turn off the display. Really hard when you're trying to get handoff to work with say your phone.
I'm sure someone has already pointed this out, but the technology for a battery that can last that long with the screen always on is probably 10 years away at a minimum. In less than 24 hours, Apple might have released a new iWatch that solves the following design issues:
1) all day always on display
2) battery life which allows it to run with always on display for a week
3) make it thinner as it's chunky right now
Or they might release a bunch of watch straps.
Let's hope the former as the latter is a joke accessory for a product announcement.
I have that setup every time I get in my car. Unless I am missing what you mean.Is there a feature for being able to have your watch connected to your iphone while that is connected to your car BT phone system? If not I want that.
The heart rate sensor could be a lot more persistent, especially in the workout app.
Turning on Prominent Haptics is your best bet for now. Texts do a "brrrr-g'tap" and Move goals just do a little "bump". I don't use FB or Whatsapp on my AW, so I don't know if they follow the same pattern.I would love to be able to customize notification vibrations for each app individually. So for example, I would then know if I received a message on Facebook, or on Whatsapp or through iMessage depending on the taptic feedback I feel on my wrist. It took me almost 3 months to tell apart move goal notifications from simple messages etc. I just didn't get it. If it were customizable I think one would absolutely grasp what each vibration type means.
But, yeah, customized taps would be cool. I made my iPhone do a constant "buzzzzzzzzzzzzz" because I always missed its lighter-vibrating options. (but now, with my AW to get my attention), I turned off my phone's vibrations entirely)
A lot of times when I'm running, it wouldn't give me a heart rate reading until I lift my wrist and swipe to the heart rate screen. Either that or I would raise my wrist and it would say an old heart rate reading and I would have to wait several seconds for it to update. It's "always on" when running a workout. How can it be more persistent than that?
Did you activate a workout before you started running? That's the key...A lot of times when I'm running, it wouldn't give me a heart rate reading until I lift my wrist and swipe to the heart rate screen. There have been times when I was running for a couple minutes and when I checked my heart rate, I got this screen-

Yes, and it still gives me choppy heart rate data. I do 30 second sprints and I would finish a set of them, and it would say my heart rate around 120. That's my average heart rate during a workout, but my heart rate gets up to 180 during sprints.Did you activate a workout before you started running? That's the key...

Pretty much. Or, if I don't acknowledge the message on the watch, the phone will try to get my attention.Kind of like turning off a radiator that's not plugged in but stored in the garden shed. Your watch will already stop your iPhones vibrations for you while you're wearing it. Except for phone calls (which I'm assuming you're not talking about here, but I guess you could be).
To elaborate, once you select Worout and pick your form of exercise (in your case, sounds like Outdoor Run), Workout should give you a 3 second countdown and then start the monitoring. Among other things (elapsed time, primarily), it should show your near instantaneous heart rate on the home screen. No need to swipe to a glance. Then you're doing it wrong.
Why would you be looking in the glances for one...

Thanks I asked because I do not have the watch yet and did not know if it would be able to connect to an iPhone while that iPhone was using a BlueTooth connection with the car. The phone would have to support two BT connections is what I wanted to know if possible.I have that setup every time I get in my car. Unless I am missing what you mean.
Yeah, you should be fine. Everything (radio/telephone/watch) all continue to work as expected. Thanks I asked because I do not have the watch yet and did not know if it would be able to connect to an iPhone while that iPhone was using a BlueTooth connection with the car. I think if they want an App platform on the AW, they will need to make the Watch slightly bigger or blow up the viewing area for the app on the Watch face.
For example, I really enjoy the Instagram app on the Apple Watch being able to see my wife's photos of the kids as soon as it's posted. With that being said, the pic is ridiculously small. Almost like there are hidden bezels or parameters/format that these apps can't exceed.
There are reasons some major developers have stayed away. Snap Chat being the obvious one that would have several use cases.
Are Instagram photos smaller than the photos in the photos app on the watch?
I fail to see how snapchat is useful in the absence of a camera...
Snapchat and Instagram are examples of apps which don't translate well to a wristwatch, just as Pro Tools is an app which doesn't translate well to a phone.
Gotta think about what the platform is good for, remember?
