Louder speaker would be positive and making the watch waterproof (of higher WR).
Making the battery life longer would be great but that is not a huge complaint from me. I make it a full day even with heavy phone/watch use.

I'm not sure if i want thinner to be honest, I quite like that there's a bit of heft to the watch. And to be honest i've not been a big fan of the thinner = better with the iPhone either as its become like a slippery bar of soapy metal.

I'll go against what many others have said and suggest making the Watch thicker, not thinner. I'm used to my 10+ year old Seiko automatic watch, which is 12.66mm thick, so going thicker than the Watch's 10.5mm depth would feel more natural to me AND provide additional space for batteries.

I'd also suggest adding some heft into the case, which will drive the perception of quality up, as those of us who have traditional watches expect and want that heft. I would also like to see a more angular case, again to bridge the gap between traditional watches and the Watch.

Frankly, they should be offering several different case designs if they want the Watch to be thought of as a personal device in the same way traditional watches are. The guts can be the same, but there needs to be more customization than simply offering a few colors in aluminium and SS (I'm not going to count the gold one as it's purposely only a niche product) and different (and very expensive) Watch bands.

Perhaps they could have sports models that are lighter (for obvious reasons) and heavier, more decorative, versions for those that aren't wearing it for sport.

The Watch also needs, and I suspect will get, speed and battery life improvements. I'm sure the 2nd gen. will be very similar to what we saw going from iPhone 1 to iPhone 3G.

Don't they already have this between Sport, Watch and Edition?

The problem (as I see it), is that the three current versions, Sport, Watch and Edition are all the same design with the same internals, even if they're made of different materials and colors. Frankly, there is not enough differentiation between them, because they all look the same and function the same. When you look at the traditional watch market, there are thousands, tens of thousands, of watch case designs, yet Apple can only come up with one basic design and then think they're in the fashion business?

Another thing is that their not offering any round designs, even if the shape challenges the rectangular design standard of iOS (WatchOS could have been anything they wanted it to be), is short-sighted thinking. I only say this in the context of Apple thinking they're part of the fashion industry. Fashion always pushes design, more so than most other product categories, and the changes happen quickly and frequently, yet all Apple can do is have one basic watch design and add a few watch band options over the course of a year?

The last thing Apple needed as it launched an entirely new product line was to stock dozens of SKUs of that product. Get it right, first, then you can liven things up a bit. In my mind, they still have some work to do on the basic functionality of this device--no need to complicate matters with lots of designs. That will come if this thing takes off.

Yup, and it'd be even worse if there were different sets of hardware features. Devs are already confused enough about what to do with a smartwatch, and complicating their job further isn't a good idea.

Thinner, needs to be much more powerful, needs to have some useful apps, needs to have a longer battery life, needs to be more independence from the phone, better health app and interface needs a lot of work too..

Need to fix imsgs and email reply system too. The existing voice to txt system was far too miss than hit and the preset custom reply option just couldn't cover the bases.

Faster processor (with more RAM)
Bigger screen with same dimensions (no bezel needed)
Same thickness to provide better battery life
Optional Smart Bands with GPS, battery, and so forth
Better microphone
Stronger BT

Faster
allow speaker to play podcasts
allow Airplay control from apps other than Apple Music (preferably a way to control Airplay speakers with Siri)

Other than that, I wouldn't mind having the option for a rounded face so I could switch out watch 1 and 2 for a different look.

I wish that it won't mark the death of my Apple Watch 1.

But I really can't see them making the watch better and still keeping a small form factor. It was hard enough to cram everything in this casing, no?

Apple Pip-Boy anybody?:p

-Fully waterproof
-Fast chip for future software
-Smartbands
-Slightly thinner but same or better battery
-Something new that we can't think of that'll blow us away

But when reading this thread, I'm realising there's really no killer feature we want.. It makes me realise Apple really did the best they could. (pretty much) watchOS3 made big improvements I'm happy.

And believe it or not I don't want cellular connectivity, I don't want another bill to pay. I always need my phone still anyway so I would leave it in my bag or pocket. But I do want as many things as possible available without your iPhone

Properly screwed-down or snap-together construction.

Partly for a better water seal, but also because I wonder how much the glue can be compromised by heat and sunlight. The temps in the southwestern US got over 120°F this week.
