I don't remember people talking about what a big upgrade the S7 was - quite the opposite. Slightly larger display. That's it. We didn't get the redesign we were expecting, and then we found out that the performance wasn't improved, either. And now the S8 ... more of the same. Really disappointing 😞Series 7 was an unexpectedly big upgrade given the size of the watch. Series 8 is a very small upgrade from Series 7, maybe one of the most incremental. Still a good buy for those on older models. I’m very happy with my green AW7, not a very common model in the world of apple watches
I think the temperature readings (like the blood oxygen sensor on Series 6) also play into figuring out what sleep stage you’re at. Not to mention the sensor will likely gain more functionality in the future.I have seen several people on here state that the Series 8 temperature sensor is only for women tracking ovulation. I just watched the Apple Watch Event again and unless I misunderstood, the temperature sensor will take a reading overnight every 5 seconds and it is accurate within 0.1 degree celsius. The doctor then started talking again about ovulation.
I think that even if you are male, you will still get readings overnight / while you are sleeping. If my interpretation is correct, that means both genders will be able to chart a baseline and note when one might be getting sick.

Series 7 actually was a decent upgrade looking back. Besides the ~20% larger display:I don't remember people talking about what a big upgrade the S7 was - quite the opposite. Slightly larger display. I did essentially the same thing, but got the Apple refurbished 45mm AW7 Graphite SS for $549. Basically the same watch as the AW8 Graphite SS which is $250 more at $799. Don’t really like that Abyss Blue sport band, but didn’t matter to me, as I’ll just use the Graphite Milanese loop I’ve been using with my AW5 Aluminum for the last 3 years. Thanks so much for this thread. Ordered my first Apple Watch just now and saved me some dough!

Indeed, it was not a big upgrade. 1 mm larger display, fast charging, dust resistance, brighter AOD indoors. I think that's it. Not much at all.I don't remember people talking about what a big upgrade the S7 was - quite the opposite. Slightly larger display. That's it. Wonderful, glad to hear it! I actually ordered the exact same watch and got it today. Not sure I'm keeping it, though. Feels barely any different from my trusty S6 (and I actually am not loving the weight of the steel compared to the aluminum during exercise). Thanks so much for this thread. Exactly, ovulation is just an application that they highlight that uses that data. She also mentions exercise, jetlag, alcohol and illness as causes. I would be surprised if they won’t use that data for other applications such as sleep monitoring and exercise recovery.I have seen several people on here state that the Series 8 temperature sensor is only for women tracking ovulation. I’m upgrading my S4 to the S8 (and am male).
This is a huge upgrade, but the smarter move is to upgrade to a S7. Can basically get the same watch for $100+ cheaper. Good luck either way!Going from the S4 to the S8 will be a significant upgrade.
All the time. They had silver two days ago, must have just sold out.Noticed the Apple store only has the S7 in gold and graphite for stainless, but not silver. How often do they adjust their stock?
I bought a SS S7 45mm on Wednesday nightAll the time. They had silver two days ago, must have just sold out.
