Why o why didn't they allow the side button to be used to stop the workout as the screen is unusable in the rain
Press both buttons at the same time and it will pause/resume. Just make sure that both buttons are pressed down at the same time (you can press the other one first then the other) and that they are down for only a short moment.

Discovered this exact thing a few days ago. If it is raining, or in my case, my hands were very sweaty, pressing both side buttons brings up pause/resume choices. Also, outdoor run in the rain and outdoor walk have an auto pause if you stop running. Both options allow you time to dry off before quitting the workout.

Wanted to clarify what I wrote above. During a workout, pressing both side buttons pauses the workout. You don't see a word saying pause, it just stops the timer. Pressing both buttons again starts the timer again. Swiping left to right brings up pause and end choices.

Does this pause/resume screen have a stop/save workout button?

I am curious if anything has changed as far as notifications go in the beta, they were a big part of the reason I returned my watch, but I would love to buy another one if they have made changes [specifically, I'd like to get all notifications (sounds, vibrations, and banners) on my phone still, and just have the watch give me a haptic buzz and a popup that disappears once the screen goes dark (IE: no noise from the watch, and after I lower my wrist I can raise it again and my watch face will display without needing to interact with the notification to dismiss it)].

I haven't seen anything regarding notifications so I figured I'd ask.

I was wondering if anybody was able to go back to 2.2 on the watch. I'm using the 10.0 beta on my phone and I love it but there's some glitches so I went back to 9.3.2 but my watch won't pair because it keeps telling me to update my phone. How would I get my watch back to 2.2 where it can pair with my phone?

You can't. You could ask Apple, they may frown at you (they can do it though). Either way, there's no way to downgrade to 2.2 yourself. Sorry!

Not to be annoying about it, but this is PRECISELY why non-developers should not use the betas on the Watch. The inability to downgrade has been cited in these forums literally hundreds of times as the reason not to do this.

Apple could very well say to you (with perfect justification): "we're not going to do anything for you because you downloaded and installed a beta without a license". I am, of course, assuming you did not pay to join the Developer program; if you did join, they may still say they won't do anything, as this is among the risks you assume by installing the beta.

In all likelihood, however, I suspect they'll fix your Watch. Because that's who they are.

Thanks guys for the news. I did pay for the the developer because I'm a type who loves updates. I'll just deal with this until the actual release.

If you are a paid developer then you should at least see if Apple will do anything. At least it's worth a try!

Saw this on Twitter:

Then Ticci replied with this:

Can anyone elaborate/screenshot what they are talking about?
I believe that they're referring to how the artwork for what's currently playing will shrink/grow when you play/pause the audio. This will happen on the lock screen, in the audio panel of control center, and in the now playing screen of the music app. This is all on iOS though, not watchOS.

Does the new auto pause feature in the Workout app work for outdoor cycling and outdoor walks or is it just for running?

Hard to say right now. It's not working for me walking and the eliptical machine.

I think I read that it is only for outdoor walk and outdoor run. Elliptical would be good since it involves arms but the. Sonwould others.

I'm really impressed with the heart rate monitoring. Five for five without losing my pulse once and that includes two hours golfing when it was 90 and humid. Usually the watch slides even when tight.

Stopping a workout doesn't use force touch that I can tell. Now you swipe left to right. Pushing both side buttons is an auto pause. Repeat to start. Much better when it rains or your hands are wet. Will really help with swimming for me.
