I am sure glad that I am not addicted to get more bands. Nike sport and stainless steel are the only two needed. Fortunate for me and those who are not addicted to watch bands, who are satisfied and happy with one or two bands which make our life simple and happy.

Oh good. I was just thinking: "I wonder what I'm going to do this Spring since I haven't changed my watchband in the last three months. If I don't I'll be terribly out of fashion." Thankfully that travesty will now be averted.

This is like an Onion article... this is what they are concentrating on? I'm waiting for Apple's line of 'Member's Only' jackets.

Silly statement. You think Apple doesn’t have the manufacturing power to meet demand? The problem is anticipating demand in the right colour.

The other problem is that Apple Watch, while he best selling smart watch, is not the world wide game changing device yet that time Cook thought. So how many straps do you produce?

I’m sure there are thousand and thousands of factories in Asia that can produce this, they just need to be contracted and they could start producing millions and millions (i’ll Refrain from making a joke about quality)

So it could be that there will be a new entry level iPad and possibly a new MacBook or MacBook Air next week OR they might roll them out over the next couple of day's like these Watch bands especially if they plan not to announce new products next week and only focus on educational software.

As a business you generally concentrate where the money is - I presume for a small design bill the money generated by (new) bands is amazing.

Also, a LOT of people loves the bands, so it helps keep people excited about the Apple watch. I hope they get the general attitude and find some way to write and design more watch faces.

I like some of these, but I'd absolutely love it if they dropped the price of these things to $29. They're extremely high quality, don't get me wrong. But I'd own so many more of these at that price. Surely they'd still be very profitable even at $20 less.

I agree. Even though I can easily afford them, there is a psychological barrier for me at $50. I just can't bring myself to spend half a hundred on a dang watch band. I just won't do it - maybe it has to do with being raised not being able to afford stuff like that. I'd gladly spend $100 bucks to get 3 or 4 bands though, even in one purchase. It feels different.

This is where Apple’s obsession with margins sometimes goes wrong. I have a lot of watch bands but have friends who only have one or two (if more than one most likely a gift) because no way are they spending $49 for them. Drop to $29 and they would sell way more.
Meanwhile, the cheap chinese bands sell like hotcakes. And if the official band collection is updated twice a year anyway, quality of those knockoffs is sufficient until the next collection arrives and you simply throw them away. If someone is into frequent band switching, going that route allows for 5-10 times as many options (pricewise) compared to an official Apple band.

I wonder if Apple intentionally keeps their own prices up, so 3rd party can make good business and the hype continues ...

I like how some people complain about the price, and how naive they are to believe these actually sell at the current prices.

Apple Watch is a lifestyle item, you don't just have one or two handbags either.

Apple just needs to stop ripping people off with the £549 space black link bracelet! Cmon you can get an iPad for that money

Very over priced I feel but hey, people buy them
