This is like an Onion article... this is what they are concentrating on? I'm waiting for Apple's line of 'Member's Only' jackets.

Given that they didn't even host a media event and have already announced a different event for education, this is clearly not what they are "concentrating on".

I like some of these, but I'd absolutely love it if they dropped the price of these things to $29. They're extremely high quality, don't get me wrong. But I'd own so many more of these at that price. Surely they'd still be very profitable even at $20 less.

I went with Monowear for my current band. It's quite a bit cheaper than Apple, but to be fair, it also seems to be of slightly worse quality.

Coming later in the year, as will the Mac Pro.

The Mac hardware engineering team doesn’t work on watch bands, emoji, Animoji, Siri, AirPlay 2, or iOS 11/Mac OS 10.13 bug fixes. Or original video content.
They certainly haven’t worked on the Mac mini either, in the past 6 years - well other than 2014 with it's use of glue/solder and downgrade of the CPU, of course.

This is where Apple’s obsession with margins sometimes goes wrong. I have a lot of watch bands but have friends who only have one or two (if more than one most likely a gift) because no way are they spending $49 for them. Drop to $29 and they would sell way more.

I have well over a dozen... probably more like 2 dozen and I know people like me who have a similar amount and we are buying them at the current prices. Would I like it if they were less expensive? Sure! Would I buy more of them? Nope.

Who cares how many they sell? As long as they make the most profit, that’s all the consumer cares about.

Apple should stop putting so much effort into new watch bands and get back to their core specialty of self-driving cars.

I used to roll my eyes at these band updates, like many of you saying #Innovation!!! But now I see it a little differently. Clearly Apple knows this isn't innovation (although in a sense it actually is for a tech company to push fashion so strongly), but it's just something to keep the watch line fresh. I like it.

Yes, I agree 100% with this.... that being said. I've never bought a strap from Apple, but I've gotten like 4-5 on Amazon for around $5-$10 apiece. The quality seems pretty good to me, but if Apple's were more in the ballpark of $25 I might be willing to buy theirs... but $5 vs $50?? It's an easy choice.

I know this is old news by now but scnr: $49? A steal! Here in Germany they cost 59€ which equals around $72!!

Ug, still not on the store. I've been thinking about getting the midnight blue sport, and I want to know if it was discontinued. If it is I'll have to run out and get one before stock runs out.

Your price includes VAT. Remember that US prices never include sales tax because it varies by location.

The velcro nylon bands are extremely comfortable and easy to put on. I've tried the silicone and other premium options and they don't even come close on how practical the nylon bands are. :p

For those wondering if Apple would change the band port for the Series 4 Apple Watch, to me, this confirms they are retaining it, otherwise they wouldn’t release refreshed watch bands having the same design as the other Apple Watch models.

This was a question i was wondering, i'm hoping we see a Series 4 in September and being able to use my current collection of bands will be great :) plus i like a few of these new one's so no doubt i'll be adding to that collection.

And the last "update" was really a pathetic downgrade.

I still wouldn’t be surprised if they changed it. Sooner or later there will be a redesign and the band will change.

That blue leather band is like a mile long! Is this for the Incredible Hulk?

Eventually maybe, but I don’t believe it will change for Series 4 given this refresh of Watch bands. On a sidenote, as technology evolves, physical changes also come with it. You have to remember, Apple has a very small Monopoly with watch bands and they generate a large profit, it wouldn’t be a good business practice for the change the band board at this point, which I don’t believe they will. But I’m not saying they won’t change it in the future either.

I have both and the Apple bands are much better. I’m guessing it’s a combination of margins and not wanting to kill 3rd party band market. Although outside of partnerships with Nike and Hermès Apple hasn’t ever promoted 3rd party bands so I wonder how much they really care about he 3rd party band market.
