Apple Watch Order Statuses Shifting to 'Preparing for Shipment'

Still waiting for notification and charge to gift card
-Shipping to New Jersey
-Ordered Apple Watch Sport 42mm Space Gray Aluminum Case with Black Sport Band
-Ordered at 3:01am Eastern, Received email at 3:03am with ship date 4/24-5/8
-Paid with credit card as couldn't use ApplePay with Apple Gift Card. Called later that day and changed from credit card to Apple Gift Card number.

-Buddy ordered 42mm Silver Aluminum with White Sport Band
at same time shipping to New York with ship date 4/24-5/8
-Credit card was hit at 5:45pm on 4/20 with status stating preparing for shipment


Hoping watch is in NJ Distribution center and processed today....

That happened to me too. I checked back an hour or so later and my status had changed to processing for shipment. I also have the notifications turned on from the Apple Store app and it didn't notify me..

While it's nice to see an "improved" delivery estimate, the amount of unknowns trying to be figured correctly for use as independent variables in some theoretical "delivery schede tracking equation" by users who purchased an Apple watch is far too many to be anywhere near even remotely accurate.

PS - I literally ordered a SS 42mm at 301 AM (time stamped receipt from Apple received and displaying a time of 301 AM) with black sport band and received a May 13 deadline in 1 second. The item was favorited so at 301 AM I refreshed the app and it opened to my favorites, I selected the watch (1st item), hit buy with Apple Pay, and placed my finger on the sensor. Time to completion from when the app loaded at 301 AM - literally 4 SECONDS lol. So imagine how I feel :)))

Since you paid with Apple Pay did you have to reauthorize your card? I paid using Apple Pay and yesterday on checking order status saw that my card was declined so to speak. So i looked at order details to see what card i had paid with and saw last 4 digits that were foreign to me. I immediately thought this was probably because of Apple Pay and how it creates a 1 time use card number for each transaction so I went ahead and updated my payment method and shortly after got my Preparing for Shipment update.

Anyone else run into this issue?
 
Info for Aussie Preorderers.

I rang Apple tonight because the pre-auth had disappeared from my credit card. Was informed this is normal as they can only hold a pre-auth for a certain duration before the bank returns your money. They will re-charge and update your status. (So make sure you have the funds available in your account).

The rep also informed me:

It is likely you won't see a charge and/or status change until tomorrow (Wednesday) or Thursday. (This happened with the iPhone 6 too).

He also said that as I'd got my order in within 3 mins of the store going live (and have a 24th April to 8th May window) I have an 80 to 90% chance of getting the watch on the 24th - if not shortly thereafter. Excited!

Hope this helps any concerned Aussies :)

I looked up my UPS tracking number by searching for my phone number under Reference. Found my shipping/tracking number and it shows it is shipping via UPS Next Day Air Saver!!

I'm a bit surprised the package weighs 3.10 lbs.

Wow! Anybody with real life problems reading this thread must feel awful.

You should all join and collectively be on a shrink's couch.

I don't begrudge anybody getting their watches or being excited and happy, but is it that big a deal to wait for something these days?

in Germany there are no orders that are in "preparing for shipping" or "shipped"

wish i could live in USA one day
 
It seems most of these "preparing for shipment" posts are sport models. Could it be they are processing the majority of those first? Or is it just a matter of logistics? I ordered the SS 42mm with black sport band. 4-6 week window and it's still "processing"
 
I just hope that people who ordered within the first 30 minutes start seeing either movement or ship dates changing. After some of the watches get shipped out.

I had this same thing happen to me! I saw others had their cards being charged so I went to check my order status and there was a problem with my payment just like you described. I too think it must've been an Apple Pay glitch. I just entered in my credit card and everything worked. Made me nervous though!

Shipping Anytime Now!

Yesterday my 42mm Stainless Steel/Wht band went from processing to preparing for shipment. I would be surprised if it didn't switch to shipping today. My confirmation email came in at 12:03am.

I live in the USA and my order is Processing so I'm waiting just like you. I think the UK order and preparing to ship for most of the orders. You may get your watch before some in the USA... also Germany is a Beautiful Country would love to visit there some day...:)
 
Well I still haven't heard anything about my order since talking on the phone for over an hour trying to figure out why Apple cancelled my order. They said it must have been a glitch and they are looking into it. And here I sit with nothing at all. So it looks like I'll have to cancel all my preordered accessories as well. Thanks Apple.

lol love my first world problems. Got my confirmation at 2:03am central so 12:03 pt and still no shipping notice or cc charge. Still showing processing. Anyone in the Chicago area get a cc charge or change in status to shipping? Ordered the 42mm watch edition with black sport band. Had a delivery windows of april 24th to may 8th... Hoping they ship mine today.

Yes got charged and preparing for shipment. Chicagoland. White 42mm sport.

Thanks, I noticed that the VISA device number listed at the bottom of my order did not match my card. I called Apple and they said it was because they give a dummy number to the order to protect the card number. However, I also order the green sport band on a seperate order and it has the same number listed. The green sport band has a 2-4 week shipping timeframe and I am wondering if they are going to hold my watch until the sport band is available.

The sports band is still showing a 2-4 week shipping time. I wonder if I should cancel the order for the sport band?
 
I have a launch window ship date for a 42mm Space Gray, still says it is Processing. Received confirmation 3 minutes after they went live. :(
