My credit card was just charged for the AppleCare on my Space Black stainless steel Link watch. Shipment was supposed to be the 13th, but I completed my order a minute or two after preorders started so it seems like they were just hedging their bets.

I was charged for my apple care around 3:30PM EST today, still not status change from processing and I still haven't been charged for the watch yet.

It's funny but, although I was really disappointed with that ship date after getting my confirmation email at 3:14 am eastern time, I had simply hoped for getting mine before the end of the month. After reading so many posts about billing and UPS tracking numbers the last two days, I've been checking my bank and Apple order status constantly in the hopes of being happily surprised.

I'm happy for all who will be getting their Watches this Friday but I admit I'm definitely more bummed about my May shipping date now :(

3:04 EST AND still had that date. I don't think any of that combo was shipping early. I'm hoping whatever production issues there were/are are fixed and it ships earlier. At 3:04 I have to be one of the first to get it! I hope!!!

I think the fact that people think 'first come, first served'

...is what is happening here is probably causing unneeded stress and tears. There is literally no reason to expect this to actually *be* the case :)

It is more likely "First made, first shipped" with a (slight) *skew* towards first come. But if they are getting stuff off the lines and thru QA and to fulfillment for certain SKUs first it would be insane for them to not bill and ship for them because some jamoke in East Jeebus was "in line" first...

42mm Apple Watch Sport Space Gray
3:03am EST confirmation
1st Wave (04/24 - 05/08 Delivery)
No charge, no change.

Pretty bummed but I wasn't expecting a charge until tomorrow, so not in freak out mode yet.

I have everything the same as yours, except mine was 1:03 MT confirmation and mine was charged this afternoon. Yours can't be far behind.

Just curious if anyone with a May 13-27 shipping window has had their order charged and moved to the first wave?

Nope! I think we are out of luck and will likely not get it by Friday. It seems the Sports 42mm Space Gray with Black Band was the most ordered watch and stock is low on these puppies. Oh well....

And of course that's the exact one I ordered too. Cursed good taste...

To be fair, I agree with you in the most part, I can understand shipping errors, carrier errors and that, but I believe Apple messed up pretty big on this launch. They are a company worth $780 billion(the richest company there is in fact). It really was inexusable that they have people waiting until June. More than likely a marketing technique, but for what? Why make people wait til June if they have already pre ordered. I would bet anything (even my apple watch that should be here next week if not Friday) that they have a massive stock pile of watches they are sitting on. There is no shortage. So to that, I believe it is not "fair". However I got my order early, been charged and prep for shipment since yesterday so I will probably get mine Friday, still feel bad for those that have to wait and def understand mounting frustration

Maybe they just under-estimated demand and besides Apple is smart in a way not to produce a ton of product and stock it. Instead they try to fill demand then as they come across issues they fix them quietly as new product is built. In a way that's a good thing. But since this is such a small product I do think they could also be manufacturing this outside of China. How about US, Brazil, etc. Would really like to see that happen.

Haha yeah tell me about it. I think worse case we'll get lucky and maybe get it a week or two later who knows. I was actually going to get the 38MM instead as I really don't like huge watches and wanted something light and comfortable for my slim wrist but then I went to the store and was kinda glad I got the 42MM because it didn't really look that big and felt nice trying it on.

(...he exclaimed, in a somewhat dramatic, raised tone of voice)

Yeah that sounded more like a scream lol :D

It's looking like everyone who ordered in the first two or three minutes...Edit: and within the USA... has had their cc charged and status updated to preparing to ship.

Hoping they have another wave of processing that includes everyone who ordered within the first six minutes.

Anyone know if most of the cc's charged to date are East and Central USA maybe??

Yes... For one watch (or 2 if you ordered at same time) My initial 3:01 order is preparing for shipment. My second one ordered 10 min later still shows 4/24-5/8 but is still processing.

Except for those folks who ordered the link#

Hmmm. I have my confirmation at 3:04, but at store.apple.com I don't see a time. What am I missing. Where do I look?

Madman8 - I rarely, rarely post on here - basically just lurk and enjoy reading the comments but thought I might have some information that is helpful to you. I am in the Atlanta area also and have received no charge nor shipping information. With that said - when I ordered my iPhone 6 - it showed up at my house before either a shipping notice was received or my account was charged. And each order on launch day of an iPhone or iPad has been similar. The only time I did get an early notification I received an iPhone 4 on the evening before the official launch day - other than that basically all changes to my status occur on launch day within hours of delivery of the product, including the charge to my bank account. So, if my history is an indicator, you have a decent chance of receiving your watch on Friday even if you see nothing until Friday itself. And just to be clear - all of these were in a suburb of Atlanta.

I am in Atlanta as well. I ordered couple chargers for the watch. Original delivery date was 23-28. Status changed on 21 and UPS is showing early delivery of 22. It is coming from the TN center. So, if the watch follows this trend, we could potentially not seeing a status change until the day before or even better we could get an early delivery! :)

I would bet anything (even my apple watch that should be here next week if not Friday) that they have a massive stock pile of watches they are sitting on.

A stock pile of products that have partially charged batteries in them? Paying for storage and protecting these items and their packaging from thieves and damage from heat and cold.

No.

For this brand new product category, Apple could not know if people hated it or loved it until they started buying. When have you ever known Apple to build too much of something and have to dump it? They had to err on the side of caution and now they are trying to catch up.

Thanks buddy. That really helps me more than you know. I've been a wreck.

I talked to apple for 3 hours tonight and they did two things for me:
1- a 15% off Apple Store coupon (they said it is the unicorn of Apple Store phone support, I've never seen one in the last 9 years of calling.
2- the changed my shipping method to Overnight/NextDay Air instead of "Standard"

Neither of these things have had an effect on my watch though. Can't use coupon towards any new products or accessories for 30 days. And the expedited shipping didn't change my status or push a charge to my card.

Realistically it doesn't matter, the launch or delivery date won't be affected but I think the guy felt so bad for me because I really felt despair until reading your post, that I was somehow missed or forgotten.
