I wasn't motivated to wake up at "Oh Dark Thirty" to pre-order a replacement for my Series 0 Apple Watch. The pre-order for the Series 0 was a nightmare and I was not looking forward to a repeat. But about 9:30 am, after a good nights sleep, I decided to check availability from Verizon. And was happily surprised to see the watch I wanted was available for Sept 22 delivery. Order placed and confirmed. Three months free service and activation fee waived.

If only the iPhone X pre-order goes this smoothly. I will be staying up late for that preorder.

Apple® Watch Series 3 GPS + Cellular, 42mm Space Gray Aluminum Case with Gray Sport Band
Deliver by 09/22/2017

Or that you could get stainless without cellular! Oh well. I'll just activate it later or never. It should work fine with wifi and Bluetooth.

I'll just put a vinyl dot over the red crown. At least that annoyance is cheap to deal with.

I am a fan of the cellular and I have some personal goals for 2019 as I near 40:

Huge fitness/health kick for my lifestyle
Get off my phone more
Enjoy the little things in life

Maybe, just maybe this device will help me get there on at least 2 outta 3. :)

I was just playing around with the site to order a watch. Looks like almost anything with cellular will take a few extra weeks. GPS only and some of the 38s are still available for release day.

That actually brings up a question that popped into my head the other day- will there be an on/off switch just for the LTE radio like the cellular iPads have? If there is, then you should see absolutely no impact battery wise since you could just disable the radio from ever trying to connect to a tower.

Upgrading from Series 0 Space Black to Series 3 Space Black again.
Really hope you can turn cellular off as I'm not with EE.

There has been pictures shown with the control panel showing and there is clearly an antenna icon, so I think you will be able to turn the radio off separately.

Not sure if you are joking or not here - however, all SS watches come with LTE

Survey yesterday showed over 70% of people were interested in LTE version. I predicted wifi only buyers would not have to preorder at midnight PST.

So for the first time I pre-ordered through a carrier site (Verizon) rather than Apple. The reason I did so was that I was on the fence on whether or not to get a new Watch. I have the Stainless 42 white sport band 1st Gen that I pre-ordered on and was able to get on launch day. What I really like about the Gen 3 is Cellular and being able to use the watch without my phone. I went online at about 1AM Pacific time and on the Apple website listed the watch I wanted 42 Grey Sport with Olive band was delayed to two-three week shipping estimate. I also didn't see anywhere through Apple where I would get the $30 activation fee waived and three free months $10 credit. I went to the Verizon site and the watch had September 22nd availability plus the $60 in credits and I could pay for the watch interest free over 6 months($72) with the price just added to my bill. So I think that ordering through Verizon might be better than ordering through Apple for the watch.

@wborisenok
Ha! Fair enough :)

My decision not to also relates to mine being SS, wear it exclusively with the link bracelet (bar gym) so the outlay isn’t a great value proposition if I want the same in Series 3.

I ordered Nike SPORTS watch for activation with Verizon...on Apple website...but Verizon website offers $60 in credits to activate...do I have to BUY from Verizon for the $60 in credits?

Here's the rub...the NIKE Sports models are not yet available on Verizon website...

I don't think so. The $60 in credit I figured out (or at least assuming) is the activation fee waived, $30, and the first three months of $10 a month waived too which is also $30.... total of $60. I don't see why you'd HAVE to buy through Verizon to get that as it was promoted as long as you have the Series 3 you would recieve both of those promotions.

If Verizon does indeed go with "you needed to order directly through us" bullsh!t I will happily take my business elsewhere.

I also noticed that when I placed my order through Verizon that I obviously had to link it to my phone number, but it also assigned my watch another phone number. I wonder if when I get my watch if I call that number will it call my watch?

It did say on Verizon's website that the $60 bonus was a benefit of ordering through the Verizon website. You might want to contact Verizon to see if this is true.

I ordered my first Apple Watch at 3:08am EST on the Apple Store app. I got the stainless steel 38mm white sports band. I'll be picking it up at an Apple Store on 9/22. I'm pretty excited! I am also wondering how I'll be able to setup the watch so it works with my AT&T LTE service. There was no questions about what carrier I have when I checked out?

right, but thats my point, anyway...you CANNOT order the NIKE watch from verizon yet...bummer...

Ordered at 8:02 am UK time, preparing for dispatch already! Is it confirmed yet that EE pricing is £5 a month? Read an article saying so, but not seen anything on EE's site.

This was one of the smoothest preorders I've experienced. I had my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook all refreshing the Apple Store at 3:00am. At 3:01am the iPhone Apple Store went live several minutes before the others. I had my order complete and my confirmation email received by 3:03am. I'm upgrading from a 42mm S0 Black Sport to a S3 42mm SS with the white Sport Band. Delivery next Friday.
I used Apple Pay so I'm probably not going to update to iOS 11 on my iPhone Tuesday unless my card is charged by then. Last time I did it reset my Apple Pay ID number and my payment was declined when Apple tried to charge for an iPhone preorder. I got it fixed but almost delayed my order. Not taking chances this time.

I need to look into that and maybe cancel my order and create a new one via Verizon.

Ordered 42mm black stainless with black sport band from the Apple Store app for delivery on the 22nd. Then out of curiosity I checked the Verizon site to see what they were offering and ended up buying one there too. Same watch with delivery on the 22nd, but Verizon was giving free activation and the first three months free. So I figured I might as well save $60. Now I need to remember to cancel my Apple order tomorrow, cause I'm off to bed.

It doesn't matter if you get it from Verizon or Apple, you still get the same offers.

Dang there is an activation fee with att. I would love to just pay 10 and try for a month to see how well it works out. Now it looks like I’d be out a $40 activation fee also?
I just talk to an AT&T rep. I ordered my Watch through the Apple store app. Ask how much will it be to add to my Mobile share plan. They told me I can add it for $10 a month. With a waived activation fee.

42mm Nike GPS only Black, Oct 5 Delivery. Using small carriers so no idea when they have LTE plan for watch.

That is both what I thought and what my chat representative told me. However, no matter how I went through putting the watch into my cart it always showed a $40 per month access fee. The chat representative assured me that it would all get worked out and end up correct.

The rep said in chat that she guaranteed me that even though my order said $40/month, it will be changed to $10 in the bill. I took a screenshot and had the chat transcript.

Upgrading from Generation 0.

My order from Apple said absolutely nothing about getting free activation 3 months free from Verizon when I ordered it. Even though it had me input my Verizon number. So I'm not going to take any chances.

My credit card just got charged the full amount, yay!

My Apple order put the full charge on right away too. Verizon looks to have just put a hold on my card as I have a $1 charge and $1 refund showing up on pending charges.
