Anyone order from b&h? I ordered my 44mm space Gray GPS, and I received my email 3 mins in at 3:03am. When I logged in, it says it’s backordered. Anyone else getting the same message?

I would have ordered from B&H if they had provided firm shipping dates before checkout. When I looked at 3:03 AM, it said "Shipping September 21 (subject to availability)". That did not inspire confidence, so I switched to the Apple Store app and finished my purchase there at 3:09 AM EDT: Apple Watch Series 4 GPS, 44mm Gold Aluminum Case with Pink Sand Sport Loop for September 21 delivery.

I ordered this morning at 5:00 EST, 2 hours after they went live. I ordered the space gray aluminum with the black sports loop. Delivery date of October 12-19. I checked Best Buy and they show shipping by 9/21 on the same watch, so I cancelled my apple store order and ordered from BB.

Yeah look at these bastards and their response to my concern about the 21st shipping date:

Why would you hold preorders at 3:01am EST without even knowing if you’re going to get any supply from Apple for launch day?

Also, I would never have purchased from b&h if it wasn’t for a macrumors post :mad::mad:

And I actually wouldn’t care if I get it within a few days of launch. But it’s super misleading. We’ll see how it goes.

Anybody else notice none of these pictures show the thickness of the watch? Looking on the official site, all the pictures and animations stop just short of showing where the back casing protrudes from the main casing. There is only one profile picture of the Digital Crown where it shows both casings but it cuts off the edge of the watch so you don’t get a sense of the thickness to main body ratio. And I can’t find the thickness listed anywhere on the site. (But I know from other websites that it’s thinner than the previous model but thicker than the original.) Can’t remember, did they do this with all the previous models?

Thickness of Apple Watches
Series 0 = 10.5 mm
Series 1 = 10.5 mm
Series 2 = 11.4 mm
Series 3 = 11.4 mm
Series 4 = 10.7 mm

For a real world reference, the difference between 10.5 mm and 10.7 mm is .2 mm OR about the thickness of 4 sheets of paper.

I nearly went with Milanese as I don't really want the white sport band but I would hardly wear it and it looks like there are plenty of fairly decent-looking third party ones on amazon for a fraction of the price. I just wish you could buy the watch strapless for cheaps! Might ebay the white one...

I have 3 white sport bands never used - I have a large band collection. Since I am giving my son my series 2 watch - that’s the band he will get to start off with

why are the shipping dates so far out on Apple.com for a stainless with a sport band? All three colors are delivery in October when the metal bands are delivery sept 21.
I assume lots are upgrading already have a metal band, so they just need the cheapest band and will switch bands.

That's why I ordered two with Sport bands.

I miss the Link Band. I wish they had it in 44".

Do you mean for the 44mm Watch? You can still get the link band in the Accessories for previous seasons separately. I'm guessing not many were willing to pay the Apple pricing for the Link band recently.

I ordered 10am ET two SS 44mm Sport Band and shipping has slipped to Oct 12 - 19. Hoping for earlier delivery.

Thanks for the numbers. My overall point though was that Apple seems to really go out of their way to hide the thickness of the watch, whereas they usually advertise the “thinness” of all their other devices.

I'd completely forgotten that they thickened up the S2, so I'm not getting a thinner watch after all! I'm even less impressed that its thinness is being touted as a key improvement now.

The link band on that page only has 42 and 38cms.

I ordered an S4/SS/WB from Apple at 3:04a ET and got a ship date of 10/5-10/12. I decided to check out B&H and order from them as well but no estimated ship date at all, but also no backorder notification. Still showing as New Item/Coming Soon.

They're still compabile though, they made sure to say it in the keynote and it says it somewhere on the site. The bodies are still effectively the same size, the only real change is in the screens.

In fact, go on any of the product pages for any strap and click on "Learn more about strap compatibility".

I ordered one as well around 3:30AM EDT. Apple's website said I wouldn't get mine until October when I went to try and order it from there. I called B&H today and they said they do not have a firm shipping date and will send out emails with updates when they get them. I fully expect them to have plenty of watches though as they are a major Apple supplier.

I still managed to get a silver aluminum AW4 with store pickup on 9/21, but my "check-in" window is not ideal. :(

On a related note, does anyone know how long they hold your item after your pickup window before they cancel it?

I ended up canceling my original order that was supposed to ship 10/5 - 10/12 and ended up re-ordering an in store pickup for 9/21. But I'm an idiot and completely forgot I'll be out of town 9/21-23.

I still want a black stainless link band someday.. the dream is still alive.
I bought this one a couple years ago to go with my S0 black SS. It's cheap and looks great.

Still no mail from apple. Called them, they told me my order is ok and will proceed.

But why is the mail missing?

Ok so my biggest question is will this new watch face be available on a Series 3? Or is it only designed for the larger screen on the Series 4?

You get 4 new faces with Watch OS 5 if your on a Series 3. They are Breath, Fire and Water, Liquid Metal, and Vapor. The new faces with the cool complications seem to be on the Series 4 only.

What material is the face of the watch made from? I only see reference to the back of the watch being black ceramic/sapphire. Earlier version had either sapphire (SS) or a composite (AL), I believe. Is that still the case or are they all made of the same material now?

They did that to me last year...live chat people had no idea what they were going to get or when, and I just ended up canceling the order because of the uncertainty and my own impatience, so I cannot speak on behalf of how they ended up dispatching their orders.
