Nearly every rumored enhancement to the Apple Watch has turned out to be false.

No flat edge case.
No longer battery life.
No lower profile digital crown.

Pretty much a nothing burger. I might still end up having to get one since the battery life on my Series 4 has gotten pretty bad.
I strongly believe that the redesign is still coming, it was just delayed due to the reported production issues with its radical new design so they decided to backtrack and go with what we saw today instead of skipping over the watch this year.

If the battery was better on my series 5, I’d be less inclined to even consider the series 7. I was REALLY hoping for better battery life and a redesign if there weren’t any health sensor additions.

I MIGHT consider it, but it’s a big maybe. I was positive I’d be ordering one until today. Very very underwhelming.

Really there’s no compelling reason to update the watch yearly IMO. I kept my 0 until software updates stopped. I plan to keep my current until the same. Then it feels like an update. Yearly is just incremental usually.

But I’m frugal with all my Apple purchases. Until it significantly changes my use of it I see no reason to upgrade any device.
It depends on the person and his or her needs and wants. If there had been new worthwhile sensors that would be beneficial to overall health and my running, I would have upgraded after a year.

How is there no space grey option in aluminum? Hard to tell what ‘midnight’ looks like. Apple might have finally pushed me to a premium finish.
This is quite frustrating as the black aluminium option really was the best looking out of all the aluminium options imo. I have a SS one just now but only as I got a good deal on it. I did love my Alu S4, it looked so good with every band.

was expecting to upgrade this year.. but looks like i can keep the S4 for another year. None of the changes from s5-s7 are worth enough to upgrade. (For me)

Bigger screen looks a bit better, but i never look at the screen for a long time.. it’s mostly short glances.

Perhaps Apple could have bypassed the need for articles like this one by doing what the rest of the watch industry does and stating the size of the bands rather than the size of the watch they think it will be attached too.

Or perhaps they had too much courage to do that.

My Stainless Steel black link bracelet that has been on 7 generations of Apple Watch will live on at least one more year. So exciting! IT's an amazing bracelet that I paid way too much for on the series 0 Apple Watch but I've worn it every single day since April of 2015 and only ever had one link fail which was easily replaced with the ones that came in the giant Series 0 box.
Same story here. My silver link bracelet that I totally splurged on in 2015 is still going strong with my Gen 4 and will continue to serve me well when I order this Gen 7. Super durable strap. Any time the scratches get to be too much, I just clean it in an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner then refinish it with a green Scotch Brite pad and it looks like the day I bought it from the Apple Store.

It's pretty funny that the rumor mill was consistently backing the idea of a flat-sided watch design, but Apple had the last laugh as they went more rounded than the prior model, not less. Also, I seriously doubt it was a late change due to production issues. A design change that huge just doesn't seem like a plausible production tweak so late in the game.

Honestly I think Apple was wise to stick with a rounded look. I think it's nicer on the wrist and probably more comfortable.
