My watch is silent and I get notifications with a tap/haptic feedback.Have you tried it in the water yet? Read on the return thread water is hard to get out making the speakers mute.
Thanks. Hmmm, maybe Apple designers are already considering your idea and the marketing team would call it Ultra Sport Band, hehe.Looks good in that photo! It’s the part where the sport band is the thinnest that I feel is out of proportion. I would love a sport band that’s the same width as the Ultra bands.
How long have you had the braided solo loop? Did you wear it with a stainless steel Watch? I see Apple have ditched the stretch warning that came with the first gen loops. Mine stretched 3cm in a year till it became completely unusable.
I've worn Braided Solo Loops (BSLs) since they were introduced with the Series 6 watches. I have never worn BSLs with a stainless steel watch, only with the darkest colored aluminum Series 6 and 7 watches. I love the aesthetic of black colored BSLs with the dark aluminum watch finish. How long have you had the braided solo loop? Did you wear it with a stainless steel Watch?
Mine, too! After about 9 months my first generation black BSL faded and stretched out to become too loose for daily wear. However, in my experience the Unity BSL maintains its dark color and holds its shape/stretches much less over time than the early BSLs.I see Apple have ditched the stretch warning that came with the first gen loops. My S7 goes on at about 8-9am and dies around the 6pm-8pm mark with normal use, with a 45-60min dog walk steaming radio on cellular thrown in.Former (I think) Garmin Forerunner 245 user here. Went on a quick 5k run without my phone. Streamed sports radio to AirPod Pros via iHeartRadio app. Lost about 12-13% battery. Went very well! Going to try to go longer tomorrow with same setup.
Took off charger at 7AM. Been playing around with it all day. 52% battery at 945PM. Not going to charge tonight.
That’s what I was thinking… if that’s the case then it should be under “Accessibility” tab. But it’s not. 🤨
Me tooAfter what appears to have been a lost shipment by UPS (hasn’t moved since Thursday night) I took matters into my own hands and tracked down an Ultra with the midnight ocean band. Also was able to pick up an orange alpine band.
So far really loving the watch and bands. Apple has done a great job with this watch and I’m actually surprised it didn’t come in at a $999 price tag.
I 100% agree. From the pictures, it looked like it was gonna be bulky, but wearing it it just disappears. One of my favorite apple bands for sure.been about 24 hours and comfort comes to mind. I thought the ocean band would be like other bands apple sent their watches off with, but it’s so light weight, like a space age super stretchy foam, comfortable as all get out.
I think the Ink Leather Link looks like it was made for the AWU, and definately does NOT look too big on your wrist!Ultra with Ink Leather Link.
I quite like this colour combination, what do others think?
Also I have a 178mm wrist. I’d like some honest feedback if the watch looks too big on my wrist or whether it looks fine?
I ordered with an Alpine Green Loop but don’t think the Alpine strap looks great on me due to the lugs.
Those are actually some great looking watch bands, thanks for sharing.
Someone in another thread shared some photos of the Ultra on a 175mm wrist — and it looked great. You should definitely go in-store and try one on, but based on what I’ve seen the watch will fit your wrist just fine.Thanks. I upgraded to the AW8 SS and now I am doubting very hard which one I should have chosen. As you said it’s a tool watch. I am not a sporter at all. I just do daily walks. But the Ultra design is also growing on me. My wrist is 175mm. Mind sharing a picture?
Yeah two lines connected to my T-Mobile #Do you have two cellular watch lines on your carrier plan?
Exactly, I have a couple of older watches now, they’re not worth selling, so I keep them as backups. I have an Apple Watch Series 0, Series 2, Series 4, and Series 7. I haven’t touched the 0 or 2 in over 2 years, I just wear the 7 and occasionally, the 4.OK for what it’s worth here is my six hour review. Size - Yeah it’s bigger than my series 5. And yes I am noticing it’s bigger on my wrist, but that may be just because I’m more conscious of it because it’s new. When it comes right down to it - it is not *that* much of a different feeling on my wrist than my series 5. I am a little nervous about hitting it against walls, door knobs, or something else. But, I usually have that feeling any time I get a new Apple Watch. Remains to be seen if this one is more susceptible to that.. Band - I got the Alpine green loop. I was prepared to be disappointed, but actually I kind of like it. I, like a lot of people wanted the trail loop, but I didn’t want to wait till November. At this point I’ll just keep the Alpine loop. $100 on the trail loop, whenever they are available, isn’t worth it. I’d rather spend that money on the new AirPods Pro. I still love my series 5 Nike band and I’ll probably use that as well.
One issue is getting it hooked up to cellular. Xfinity said I needed to cancel my old watch and I need to wait 24 hours before I add another. Unless I want to be charged for a another watch on my plan. Ok, I don’t know why I need to wait. I have low expectations of Xfinity. I’m sure I’ll have issues when I go to add it.
I’m just going about my life and trying it out. I already cut the grass. I’ll take it on a bike ride tomorrow. I started with the series 0 and I’ve never had two Apple watches at once, but I’m keeping the series 5 to wear every once in a while. Maybe if I want to dress up. It’s not worth much money anyway.
This is currently my main issue. I’ve always loved the sport bands, and the proportions are off with the Ultra just enough to annoy me.
Good for you!!! And it looks good.)Ok — here are impressions from an extremely small wristed person -130, size one in solo loop. Is it big? Omg yes. Does it look silly on my wrist? Omg yes. Do I care? Hell no! The build quality, the screen brightness, the premium feel — awesome. Mostly I will wear this for sports etc and not as daily driver but even that is shifting for me. I’m hooked on the enormous screen (I’m coming from a 41).
They definitely lose a ton of value year over year. Though, since they haven’t upgraded the chip for the last 2 years(?) maybe value will hold a little better in the most recent models (7). That’s a question. I haven’t really sought to sell my old watches because they’re valued at so much less than they cost me, even though like my Series 4 stainless steel is in perfect condition and has great battery life. I might donate it to a non-profit seller like Housing Works here in NYC.How much do y’all think this thing would depreciate next year. The thing about all apple watches is they have horrible value. The bands hood value more than the watch. So I never saw fit to buy steel or Hermes or any of that ridiculous price. Honestly if apple had a yearly upgrade program that cost me 200 a year for the latest Watch with trade in I would do it.

This is a really good question. Trade-in values for AW are really low, and one gets very little credit for upgraded materials or cellular, part of the reason being that the core functionality is the same (aside from cellular). Private sale is better, but still not great. How much do y’all think this thing would depreciate next year. The thing about all apple watches is they have horrible value. Absolutely, it looks great on your wrist size. Which hole on the alpine band do you use to attach its hook to? The last one, the second or the third? Do you think that medium size band is better than small size alpine? Here is mine on small 162 mm wrist with the Green Alpine band. To give you an idea I wear a size 4 45mm Solo or Braided Loop (although it’s a bit tight.) I think the Ultra fits great and the lugs don’t extend over my wrist. I love it! PS: it’s a size medium band.
