So which colour alpine loop does everyone like better? Green or orange?
I ordered with the orange. But decided I much preferred the green so managed to get to the store before it closed yesterday. Think the green is a more muted affair. Easier to wear.

As an aside, I think the bands are pretty easy to use. I got smalls, and the only issues is getting it over my knuckles. But easy once done.

It bums me out because while I could see Apple offering additional types of “Ultra” bands in the future, I doubt very much they will offer classic Sport Band or Sport Loop styles in a wide Ultra version because there would be pressure to price them at the normal $49, and the moment Apple offers a $49 Ultra band it undercuts this whole new “$100 for Ultra bands” strategy they have. I mean it’s genius, they just got me to spend $300 on Ultra bands on day 1, when I really just wanted 3 of my classic favorites for an already pricy $150.
Not necessarily. They’re only charging £99 because of the Titanium lugs. We already have regular Series bands that cost more than £49, so cheaper Ultra bands is not out of the question.

So yesterday I was out for the day in London and I thought I’d use my Ultra for everything I could. So I had a card set up as an express travel card for payment, and used the watch for all travel directions too.

The battery was fully charged before we left, I used it for directions for every journey we did, whether that was by car, train, underground or walking. I even used it to check Twitter (via the chirp app) whenever I wanted to.

When I woke up this morning, the battery was still showing 55%. This is mightily impressive in my book, and makes me think that Apple’s estimates were maybe a little underestimated!

So first full day w the Ultra:

Charged it to full and put it on at 5am. 2 hr morning hike, golf outing, playing outside w the kids and a nice dinner out. All this with phone in pocket. Used it for sleep tracking and now it’s Sun 3am so 22 hrs and I have 55% battery still. Very impressive.

Today I’m going to leave the 14 PM behind on the morning hike and any other time I don’t need to bring it with. Let’s see how we do on LTE

I think I’m the ideal use case for the Ultra. Apple def had rugged athletes like me in mind.

Example: Just did a 2 mile walk to the local convenience store. Light drizzle and and some pretty blustery 7mph winds. 30 min of pushing this thing to the limit!!😜

Seriously tho I had 53% when I left w/o PM. Outdoor walk workout plus checking Carrot weather a few times. It’s now 48% so you can def see the LTE guzzles battery on its own.

I’ve only seen one or two pictures across the internet so far where the watch doesn’t look too big on someone’s wrist. OP it doesn’t suit your wrists at all 🤣. It’s so big.

Posted this in another thread here as well...

Picked mine up yesterday.

After wearing every single Apple Watch released (all stainless steel), this is the first watch that feels like a real watch should.

And I am very surprised to be saying that. I was very worried that the Ultra would be too large on my small wrists but it actually looks fine -- like a watch should look on one's wrist. The 45mm watches seem like toys compared to the Ultra.

Additionally, the one strap I swore I would not buy was the Ocean. However, over the past few days, after reading a considerable amount of positive comments about the strap on various forums, I decided to pick it over the Alpine. Best choice I could have made. The ocean band is very comfortable and not nearly as chunky as the product photos suggest. It goes on and off quite easily and if I ever choose to wear this watch in the water, I now have a band that will handle the elements.

Still have not worn this for a full day so I can't comment on battery life, though I am reading that it exceeds Apple's estimations. As far as the display is concerned, it's not noticeably larger though it does give the sense of having more real estate in the way graphics are displayed. I think the flat face design (over the rounded corners) makes for a better viewing experience.

From experience over the years, cellular only will drain your battery quickly

That's my point, I doubt they will make Ultra sized (wide for the 49mm case) without Titanium lugs because I think people would gobble up bands at $49 instead of paying $99. Apple wants you to pay $99 for the "premium" Ultra bands (despite them being silicone, nylon, velcro etc.) so they won't ever offer specially tailored Ultra bands at $49. Basically they will say "if you want to pay $49, deal with it being a bit narrower than ideal" knowing for some that means they will pay $99 instead.

That said today I'm wearing a black Solo Loop with the Ultra and it looks pretty good, especially from head on, its when you view the side of the wrist it looks a bit narrow. It's not awful.

Thanks for sharing. Does the end of the band remain 'in' the bar thingy? I have one, but, haven't even opened it, yet.
Usual my sport band from my AW6...

Switched to Solo loop.

It's tighter to my wrist than Alpine so I think of it "less" if that makes sense.

Wore it overnight. I have been wearing it since 7am yesterday.

Currently at 59. Should last till bedtime and will charge then. switch to series 4 for sleep tracking.

No exercise. Just a lot of computer work. took a short walk. a couple of phone calls.

This is nice.

It really isn’t noticeable unless you are examining really close or choosing to look at the connection point. I don’t notice it when going about the day. Here are some pics with my black leather link. Doesn’t bother me. Doesn’t look out of place. I’m happy to be able to continue using my bands lol

Hope this helps in your decision either way.

It definitely seems that band is too narrow to cover the whole lenght of the rails in watch.
Does that same band actually be exact match for the rails in 44/45mm watch? I mean it does not have the same issue with the band itself? I think I've seen already similar photos of Milanese loop with Ultra where band match the lenght of the rail in watch perfectly, so wondering how this is different in Leather link or loop...!?!?
