Took off my Green Alpine Loop for the first time today and exchanged it for my OG Nike Sport Loop in black. Still the favorite band I own. I think I’ll put this on more often as I wait for my black Trail Loop to arrive in November.

I have the same band but it's old and started to rip where it connects to the top lugs.

I just received delivery of the Apple Watch Ultra with green alpine loop in Sydney Australia. I also bought the orange alpine loop.

@TheYayAreaLiving 🎗 - As promised I made a first impressions thread anyway even though a lot of you lucky Americans have got the watch already!

First impressions:
  • Packaging is nice and offers a different, more premium unboxing experience.
  • The watch is not as big as I expected. The case is bigger and thicker but it doesn’t feel heavier on the wrist compared to the S7 stainless steel.
  • For reference, my wrist size is 155mm and I wear a Size 5 solo loop. The two alpine loops I have are both size small.
  • The natural titanium looks and feels premium. I’ve always had stainless steel versions so I’m interested to see what the wear and tear will look like
  • The G hook on the alpine loop will take some getting used to. It wasn’t easy to take the watch on and off.
  • The flat screen looks and feels amazing to swipe on and it’s a clear differentiator from the standard series.
  • Display area is only slightly bigger than my Series 7 and the bezels are noticeable. They’re probably waiting til next year to reduce them and make it an incentive to upgrade.
  • Action button is useful for starting workouts. Will need to play around more to see what secondary functions I can assign to it.
Comparison pics are with my Series 7 Hermès.

Band pics include sport band, solo loop, leather loop, leather link, Milanese loop, steel link bracelet and some Hermès leather single tours.

Happy to take questions!

Edited to add pics of the midnight ocean band. Feels so nice!

As a watch expert this watch is far FAR too big for your wrist, I hope you enjoy it though but yeah…..Big Ben springs to mind

Posted elsewhere but this is by far my favourite Apple product in years. Love the look with the stainless link. Mechanic meets digital. Every day I’m enjoying it more and more!

Light and strong, beefy yet not bulky.

The titanium case coupled with brushed steel link bracelet, this thing is dope!

very nice, paired with stainless link bracelet It looks infinitely better than paired with ANY other band.
like night and day.
I think it's the only combo worth getting, unless it's strictly for sport activity sessions.

As a watch expert?! Go away!! It looks fine on his wrist. So many haters in these threads with an agenda to crap all over watches that all of us are enjoying and feel are perfectly sized for smaller wrists.
These 2 photos prove my point, you’d have to wear the Apple Watch near your Elbow for it to look acceptable in terms of size.

An entry level Rolex that’s now worth £10,000 plus when I paid less than £4,000 for it. Hence why I know watches
The OP isn't worth 10k, grey market prices have been inflated for years. Would love to see some proof of your trips to Geneva?

I'm assuming by "Geneva" you are talking about Watches and Wonders, who's been inviting you? The FHH or which brand?
A second hand one is selling on Goldsmiths for roughly £8500 and mine is an even rarer version due to the colour as when I purchased mine there were only 2 available in the entire UK. Because I own an OP and JLC Reverso I was invited by Rolex to go one year and they invited me back ever since

If all it takes is owning an OP and Reverso to get into WW every year then a lot of people are missing out. 😂 🤦‍♂️

again its the same size than 45mm with more rounded corners so kinda smaller, why do people saying its bigger?
Because it is. Maybe not a lot in your view, but it is larger.

45mm:
396 by 484 pixels
1143 sq mm display area

49mm:
410 by 502 pixels
1185 sq mm display area

It's noticeably larger than the S8 when set on the same text size. Not only do Apple's specs show this, side by side comparisons with the text size set the same also show this:

I noticed immediately in comparison to my 45mm SS S7. It is not only wider, but taller. The percentage difference in display area is 3.6%
Or if a picture is worth 1K words, there's the pictures in this post.

Does look the best. But ss doesn’t exactly go with the aluminum colored titanium. But yeah beats the cheap bands that do come with it.
