When I purchased my S7, I asked in store if I could substitute a braided loop band for the stock band it comes with and just pay the difference, like you can order online. They said no, that was not possible and only offered to sell me the watch and the band separate, as both were in stock.

I went to the parking lot and made on online purchase of the watch I wanted with the braided loop band for in store pickup. Went inside an hour later and picked up the watch, which had been opened and the stock band removed, along with the braided solo loop band in a separate package. Same employee.

🙃

After reading this I went to my local Apple Store and asked them if I can swap out the original green alpine band that came with my Ultra, to a midnight ocean band. They allowed me to do that without a hitch. I thought Apple’s policies were uniform.

Given that they are not, make sure to check with your local store.

Nice! Glad that worked for you.

Love the watch, but still full of bugs…
Its the 30th today:

Wrist size 150mm should i get the small or medium alpine loop?

If i get the medium will i need to hook on the last spot?
I went small for 155mm and on the wrist it sits with the buckle underneath, which I like. The bigger issue if if you'll be able to get your hand through the loop, as it's a squeeze for me. But I'm willing to put up with it as it's nice to have a clasp sit in the right place for once!

I have owned my AWU with green Alpine Loop for just around 24 hours but I'm already totally in love with it.

My AW 5 looks like a toy next to it and I'm so glad I upgraded despite hesitating for a while for the usual reasons (might be too big on my wrist, looks less classy, high price tag, has additional features like diving app I won't ever use, etc.).

All these doubts went away the first time I put it on my wrist - it looks and feels stunning, is extremely responsive, the screen is bright and sharp and SO much better than the one of my AW5 plus battery life seems to be outstanding compared to all former Apple Watches I have owned in the past (just a very early observation, of course, have to see how it performs when doing longer workouts, calls, listening to music, and so on).

The only real issue I have is that the crown sometimes get stuck on my skin and can't be turned. It's clearly an issue of the crown being so large that it protrudes over the bottom of the watch and if you wear the band a bit tight, the crown is being pressed onto your arm slightly. This blocks it sometimes and I'm still trying to figure out how to solve this problem. Have tried to bend my hand downwards a bit to elevate the watch whenever I want to turn the crown but maybe wearing it slightly less tight or using a different band will also help.

Anyone else who noticed this issue?

Happens to me as well, albeit infrequently.

Not me

I've had my Ultra with Large Green Alpine Loop for about a day. Coming from a SS Series 5 44mm.

I didn't really know or have many expectations of the Ultra, as I initially thought it looked ugly, until I started seeing videos on YouTube of people wearing it, that's what made me curious to try it. I've been looking for a reason to upgrade since the Series 5 but not having a change of style made it pretty pointless. I'm pleasantly surprised at this point and enjoying it, it feels great, looks great on me, and has been extremely comfortable. The screen was actually the biggest adjustment as I've been accustomed to the older style since the Series 0.

Can't really comment on battery life or any of the new functionality yet. Need more time with it.

I don't know how fast the fast charging was on the S7 but coming from S5, this fast charging via USB-C is amazing. Since the battery life is so good - i can top off my phone every day 50% and get through more than 24hrs, and repeat this everyday. The top off is only 20 minutes.
