Apple: White iPhone 4 Models Set for 'Second Half of July' Availability

Black 32gb for me

Had the black 3G for almost 2 years now. Was considering on getting white, but went w/ black again since the white was unavailable. Regardless the iphone4 will have many cases where it doesn't make a difference if you have white or black. My girlfriend had a white 3G for 2 yrs and I just realized she had that color recently since she always had cases over it.

Now confirmed. I work at a best buy mobile in my local mall and we received our first batch of iPhones today. 10 white 16gb 10 white 32gb 10 black 32gb and 20 black 16gb. Put one aside for my wife. Doubters can go cry.

Pics? I wasn't gonna risk my job for a forum post. No need to lie here. I'm excited cuz my wife was pissed she wasn't getting hers and I was. This is for those who were on same boat. Believe what u want , had them in front of me. Box is same as black. Both boxes are white but artwork for iPhone is white instead of black obviously.

I should of expected these type of sophomoric responses. Will teach me to pass on information. What benefit do I get from this? We will see who feels fruity come Thursday.

I haven't gone through all the post from this member, but are you sure this member isn't talking more in a 3rd person perspective (I.e. Thinking like a share holder and what they would say vs. An actual shareholder). Just a thought.

i'm positive. i've tried holding back replying in regards to his "i'm an apple shareholder" posts, but they are made so frequently and in almost all his replies it's annoying. it's just silly.....go see for yourself.

Black iPhone 4 + orange bumper = Halloween... I think I'm just reminded of the old Cingular colors and miss them when they were Cingular.

Pigment shortage?

I'll bet this has something to do with a worldwide shortage of Titanium Dioxide that I heard about a couple weeks ago. It is used to manufacture everything from white paint to LCD backlight diffusers for LCD screens. I would imagine that it's probably used as a pigment to color the white model too.

They can still only make the same number of phones, black or white.
Making 100% black, or 50% black / 50% white, or 90% black / 10% white, it is still the same number of phones made and available to sell.

Umm, no - in the same amount of time, they can either make 100 black iPhones, 100 white iPhones, or 90 of a mixed batch at any ratio. The numbers are guesstimates of course, but you get the idea.

Cheap toy for kids?? As a home theater and all things Apple geek, you're off on this one. I know it's not just me. I'm soooo tired of every single piece of electronic equipment being thoughtless, black. TV's, receivers. laptops, phones, etc.

Remember the "Think Different" campaign? You instantly know it's an iPhone when it's white. The black one's look like every other BlackBerry, HTC, and Windows smart phone out there. Blending in is for mindless zombie followers. I'm sticking with different, different is good.

Besides... By then, those of us who patiently waited, the jailbreaking will be solid on iPhone 4... AND NO LINES!!!!!!!!

Okay.. so I agree with a lot of what you said, but I think someone pisse you off a bit

black is a standard for electronics, and I have a feeling that's why a lot of ppl go for it (as you said) but i don't think it's just cuz they're mindless zombies... they just prefer it (which is why it has become the standard) and for a lot of electronics I like black... like my Blackberry would look like crap in white... but I'm defo getting the iPhone in white... I think it's somewhat nicer...

Agreed. I got the white iPhone 3GS because I thought it was a very attractive piece of hardware. I won't be getting the white iPhone 4 because I like the appearance of the black one more, but I would have liked to see the white one anyway. The sad thing here are the people who won't buy a white one because they're afraid of what society might label them as. I believe the technical term for them is 'tools'.

The only thing I'm worried about society labeling me as is easy prey for thieves. Thankfully, I've taken a lot of self defense classes.

Hopefully for those who want the white, including myself, will not have to deal with the hectic launch day environment. Also this will allow, im assuming, AT&T and other retailers to sell the white one, making it easier to obtain.

Although many of us - myself included - are waiting for white, the launch hoopla will have died down by mid-July and we should (reasonably) be able to walk in and get our phones.

When they say second half, they really mean end of July. Be prepared for this for all of you waiting on them

In fact, I will go to bed fairly late tonight, and enjoy sleeping in. I will then wake up with my new iPhone at my door a few hours later. No lines for me!

But actually, What you just said is the epitome of an Apple fanboy. It's ok, I mean some people enjoy being fanboys, but in case you haven't realized, it took Apple 4 GENERATIONS of the iPhone to allow WALLPAPER SWITCHING (a feature which can even be done in every version of Windows, super old versions of Linux using GUI, and pretty much every other OS of the last decade). Every single one of Apple's laptops look exactly the same, and if anything, define conformity.

I'm not bashing Apple, Microsoft, or Linux. I happily own a MacBook Pro, use all three operating systems on multiple devices, and enjoy them all equally. I'm just sick and tired of hearing Apple fanboys say "Think Different", because that was a campaign that (at the time) WAS actually different. Now, it's more like, "Think Apple."

Not so bad of a delay...if you got lumped in the July 15 club and wanted a white you could cancel now then re-order to get your white one only 5-7 days later than the black would have arrived once available.

If AT&T is going to be slammed for a less than perfect preorder, then Apple has to be slammed for missing the launch data for the white iPhone 4 by almost a month, and further by not giving any status updates about this during the preorder process.

Apple is not infallible.

I wouldn't count on that. Do you remember when the 3G came out and they had a problem with the cases cracking?

Glad Apple finally said something - the silence was pissing me off.

Now I can go to Apple at my leisure once the craziness dies down and check out the screen + camera and see if it's worth extending my AT&T contract for. The extra RAM is great too, but iOS4 finally seems to have fixed the Safari reloading/crashing issues I had - fingers crossed.
