It’s because they are getting forced by the industry to do things like we have seen
So poor, poor Underdog Apple can set standards or destroy them and drive an entire industry in front of them by buying a company - but they are forced to lie and make render videos by "the industry".

Who is behind this world conspiracy? Perhaps aliens or the Illuminati?

Good. Not nice to wait for a long time after it is announced. I think that everything announced at WWDC should be made available at least by the year end. Waiting to see the announcements at WWDC this year.

Yes because it’s not like the olden days anymore that apple are just this little company contrary to some popular belief

When the whole industry for example is working on AI or have already put it into products and apple is nowhere to be seen
Then that is why you then had this pre announcement because the impression was they are falling behind the industry
That’s why you were seeing more of these types of things

Do you still remember? There was a time when Apple only presented products that were ready. Like the first iPhone. Or the MacBook Air.

But those days are over. That's what happens when a business graduate is at the top.
Today, the company is reaping what it has sown over the years. It’s on the same level as all the other lying companies. Just demands more money.
If i remember correctly, the first iPhone was presented following a strict script on stage because the software was incomplete and pretty much prone to crash

Apple learned the hard way that future faking technology sparks costly lawsuits. Vaporware turns out to be expensive. LOL!

Truth! The business graduate knows how to manipulate things into dollar signs, but in the end, no clue on actual product innovation. Apple is most definitely reaping what they’ve sown with Tim Cook still at the helm. Can only please investors for so long when your losing consumers left and right to competitors. Well done, Tim! 👏

So the reaction here should mean that everyone will be completely happy with Apple not spelling out a roadmap for future products. And everyone in the MR forums won’t get upset when they buy a device and its successor is announced a month later.

Right?

Apple could also be sued by shareholders if they announce a feature and then do not deliver.

If you want he latest features, you should rather buy a Chinese phone anyway. Apple still sells phones for $799 or more that do not have a 120 Hz display.

Not sure who at Apple thought it was a smart idea.

But producing ads for unreleased features is an even dumber idea.
totally agree.

The Bella Ramsey ads were incredibly stupid given they were designed to boost sales of the iPhone 16 and yet it turns out they were showcasing simulated software at the time not actual capability.

I hope they have learned their lesson.

As others have said, its better to under promise and over deliver rather than the other way around.

As someone else said too - WWDC will be interesting as its its become habit lately to announce features that don't get released for another 10 months after announcement. I wonder if they will only announce features that will definitely be available in 19.0 or 19.2 (December) at the most.

Right?
Nobody is saying that apple can’t announce things like for example at wwdc
However what people have an issue with is making announcements when the product or software isn’t actually working in a decent capacity

The current GUI is ugly AF. It was ugly when released with iOS 7 and it’s only gotten worse now that everybody moved on from flat GUI. I for one I am looking forward to a refresh and I hope it’s radical. Or I’d be content with just having iOS 6 interface back. That was far better than the current bland mess.
IOS6 skeuomorphic interface aged badly, it looks trash.

Lol thanks. WWDC should be over in 3 minutes then.
They will just demo the advances in Apple Silicon and AI by playing a real time simulation of Craig Federighis hair blowing in a gentle breeze for 30 mins

This time showcasing advanced ray tracing

Rushing products has never been a good idea, but in IT companies like Microsoft have turned that into a standard decades ago. Pushing out some half baked product/feature and then later flooding the customer with updates with a lot of distracting PR pretending that this is good thing to do.

Almost every company will rush products. It’s not Microsoft’s fault.

They just need to move back to live events and give live demos to features that actually working and not cooked up in Photoshop.
I agree. The prerecorded keynotes were a necessity during Covid. They no longer are, and have taken a lot of pressure to deliver off of Apple.

It’s easy to make things look great when you have the luxury of editing your “keynote” to a squeaky-clean production.

Also the presenters are inherently more awkward. A live audience is a powerful thing, the Dionysian aspect of being in a room with a thousand people watching you up on stage is dynamic and exciting.

Yes, please! Please Apple, do announce features that are ready and not some promises for the future!

I know... I didn't say it is soley the fault of MS. Another example is Boeing, with deadly results.
But since the 90ies in the software world MS was aggressively trying to get the largest market share and in that process half baked product releases slowly became a standard. I know this, because I saw this change with most the professional PC software during the 90ies. It even is taught in school/college to rush code. Quality and proper testing isn't important when you've got greedy executives running the business.

It’s fascinating how AI seems to have completely upended Apple’s way of doing product development.

They’ve got complacent and now I hope there is a flashing red alert light labelled ‘GenAi’ at Cupertino - and that they are heeding it.

Worse yet….not evrn just unreleased….vaporware…concepts…incredible : (
As a software developer...yes ****ing please! Management everywhere needs to listen to the engineering teams for deadlines, not MBA's and Project Managers, they don't know anything about creating software.

I bet they feel having outside deadlines = better more consistent motivation?

You would never want a sapphire screen on an iPhone, the thing would shatter at the lightest drop.
It’s very scratch resistant, but also very brittle, that’s why it’s mostly used in small components like the camera lens.
That rumor never made sense and was never going to come to fruition.

Ojhhh wow. Makes sense now why my 14 pro max lens broke so easily SMH

The problem is that isn’t what makes the most money right now which is all a CEO like Tim thinks about. He doesn’t care about the long-term value of AAPL just what his stock vesting is worth now. It’s truly a problem with companies business structures that overpays the CEO to sell the future out for the now. Tim is great at maximizing the now, but I think the next CEO will struggle for many years to reinvigorate innovation into the company. Has to not just be about shareholders but all stakeholders and that’s not in a bean counter CEO’s best interest. That’s why founders care so much more about the whole thing rather than just the money. But it doesn’t work for a CEO like Tim who can’t even think about innovation. He’s so far from creative it’s sad. Throwing all the money at the things that don’t matter and not knowing what does matter.

Yeah he’s no Steve Jobs that’s for sure but man he sure can count those beans..

But I also wonder…has he created ANYTHING??

Like is any product since he’s been at the top his creation or under extreme guidance of??….

Man idk about bland. I wouldn’t call it bland by any measure.

Flat? Yes compared to past app icons. Bland? No. Like I have this massive metropolis skyline pic I took from a distance as my wallpapa and it all just pops, the wallpapa, the tiles of apps and swipin around screens and apps. Ugh iPhone the best. The true originata!

Some "simple clean graphics", like the Windows 95 style, are "timeless" in that they started out at rock bottom attractiveness upon release and can't get any worse as they age.

Rock bottom attractiveness?!?!

Back in the day windows 95 was IT, what crack meth are you smokin??
