I know this is a bit off topic, but if the iphone were to switch carriers (like to verizon), would all of the apps still work? especially the ones I already paid for? Or would there be separate app stores- one for at&t and one for verizon?

Would this matter since your iPhone would only work on a GS carrier? You would have to buy the CDMA version of the iPhone.

Since you asked

Can we have no Apple bashers on this thread please. There's a zillion other threads to post on.

Jobs's turnaround at Apple has been nothing short of remarkable, no matter which metrics you are using.

I suspect that you actually wanted to hear some dissenting voices ;) So here they go:

* What is AdweekMedia? One small publicationof which most nobody on this board have heard before. So why so much excitement? There are plenty of similar companies and each of them will select their own winners. Perhaps even I might win somewhere ;)

* "iPod as "redefining" the MP3 player" - is it just me or this sounds really silly? All MP3 players are almost identical. It is not clear what exactly was redefined.

* Product of the decade? Really? Did they hear about walkman? They sure did. MP3 player does exactly the same just using different media. You press the button, the device plays music. Nothing changed. As decades go, I'd say 80s go to walkman, 90s - to cell phone and 00's go to GPS. GPS devices really brought something new to our lifes. Perhaps something has to be said about PDAs. They also revolutionized mobile computing. iPod/iPhone - it's just an amalgamation of a walkman, cell phone and PDA (in other words - evolution).

Still, Apple surely deserves to be noticed for its advertising.

What else can we say? Here's to SUPREME domination of the market with SUPERIOR products! Thank you, SJ and Co.!

MS IS DEAD. DELL IS DEAD.

MS is dead? Dell is dead too? Wait a minute, I am an Apple fan from the word go, but this is goofy.

Wow quite some achievement Apple, way to go.

I wonder if any other company has ever done the same..ie all the awards in a row?

Methinks this will increase the stealing of Apple design employees.

Apple also won the "Flickeriest 27 inch display" award, although nobody's mentioned that yet

"I hear that Apple's manufacturing processes result in polluted villages in third-world countries where entire families live in drafty huts with no indoor plumbing."

I could very well be wrong but was the iPod not the first MP3 Player to have a proper HD (5GB or something) Before that you could only have an album or so in your pocket?

I loved my walkman when I was 15 but it's no iPod.

The second story on AdWeek's home page is '09's Most Talked-About Brand: Microsoft.

Microsoft is #1, with an 83% favorable rating. Apple is #4, with 75% favorable.

Not bad for being "dead" ;)

Good for 2009. But Apple's won the awards, for the "decade", not for a single year. Where was MS the rest of the time? No doubt the fact that MS finally got their core competency right after 6+ years was seen as something astoundingly positive.

You're simply confirming the original article.

From your source:

Bloggers often used terms such as “easy,” “efficient” and “better” in their online discussions about Microsoft

Yup. Elation over Windows 7, going as far back as the Beta. Relief over Windows sucking less is about as positive as you can get. MS gets the "Thank God it's not Vista!" award here.

Quite a few went to Apple's ad agencies, not Apple.

And, by the way, did you notice that the creative director of the decade award went to one of the leaders of Microsoft's ad agency?

That must hurt....

No, it doesn't. Bogusky's Laptop Hunter ads weren't his only project over the past ten years. In fact, that article doesn't even mention Laptop Hunters or Microsoft. It's much more concerned with his Burger King work! Bogusky has built up quite a portfolio over the past decade.

Keep trying.

Good eye, Rocketman. I thought it was a regular Apple Remote (the plastic one) at first.
Congrats to Apple!

 He's referring to a shape and you're referring to a product.

Product Steve is holding: iPod Shuffle
Shape of product Steve is holding: roundrec
