also he gave me a free trackpad :)

at what time of day do these offers start? during the day or bang on midnight?

should i buy Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.4GHz ->4GB (2 x 2GB) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM 250GB NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory Intel Core 2 Duo)

or the new13-inch: 2.3 GHzdual-core Intel Core i5 4GB 1333MHz 320GB 5400-rpm1 Intel HD Graphics 3000

in terms of spec?i don't think there's much of a difference other than graphics right?

Get the new one, the graphics are equivalent, while the new CPU architecture is way faster than the old one.

Which is something to consider. The Xbox offer, however, only requires that you purchase a Windows computer priced at $699 or higher, which has a net result of about $500 total cost. And who couldn't use a new computer and Xbox for only $500, even if it is Windows. ;)

Windows are still used by the majority of the population. I'm even typing this reply on a windows XP computer and my windows 7 laptop is in the other room.
Apple products are good like iphones and ipod touches but when it comes to computers, windows still blow Apple macintoshs away.

in terms of numbers used? yes

but in terms of quality/function/ease of use? hahahaha

Don't flame this thread with Mac vs PC comments. People have their own preferences. By the way, all experienced Mac users I know love their Macs, and we simply cannot live with a PC.

It depends, there are various windows computer that fall below mac standards and their are gaming ones that just cant be compared to (alienware)

No i was responding in regard to a free x box(4GB) with windows 7 purchase 699 and up.

Having a gaming machine and a computer is the better deal, even with educational discount a PC/xbox deal will be at least a couple hundred less than mac and ipod touch deal.

If you care about gaming, then it's a different story. Although the MBP 15'+ should be great for gaming, if you boot camp to Windows.

Huh?
There is a net result of about $500 if you sell the X-Box.

Saying "who couldn't use a new computer and Xbox for only $500" says that you pay $500, and you receive a Xbox and Windows computer.

You pay 700 for a windows computer and a xbox. You cant pay 500 and get both. The 500 only comes up if you sell the xbox and taking only the computer.

Edit: didnt see that you were saying what i just said haha. my bad

Lol no worries. It was partly my fault, I forgot to put the part I was quoting in as quoted text.

Aww, I was so ready to purchase my mac today. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and wait till next week. But who says it has to start next week? Isn't it possible that it could start tomorrow or the day after? Or has it always started on a Tuesday/Wednesday? I just want to order my stuff as soon as the promotion starts.

I would think they would release this promo before the holiday weekend to entice all the people who will be shopping this weekend.

Will they release this before Lion is released? If so, would it be better to wait for Lion?

It will likely come out next year. And they wouldn't. Just like how they release the new iPods this fall after the promo, they'll update their computers and release Lion after all the promos so people can spend more money. It's basic business.

Yes of course its the Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK (for those who don't know - ALMOST everyone has the monday off). If Apple thinks like every other retailers in the country, they will probably begin the promo today or tomorrow.

But Apple is not like every other retailer... seeing how successful they are at the moment, they prob don't care cos they know people will buy their stuff regardless.

No doubt Alienware packs a lot of tech in their laptops but it's not an "Apple to Apples" comparison.

Alienware is extreme performance over all else, including battery life and weight/form factor.

Apple is high performance tempered to the form factor, battery life....etc.

The Alienware has to be much thicker with more fans (and plastic creaking) to accommodate the Gaming Tech, and even then, reliability is suspect.

Also the Alienware can quickly get much more expensive that a MBP when configured as such.

Hurry Apple so disappointing not out this week  been holding out on my first Macbook purchase for while

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Deal definitely going to happen. I'm waiting for my first mac pro purchase. Switching from a mini acer lol. Wait a week or two for a iPod and printer.
