I'm 99% sure that B2S will start next Tuesday (the 14th). There have been reports of store managers receiving new visuals (signs) to be opened tomorrow and the 14th. Tomorrow is guaranteed to be for everything/something announced today at the keynote. Nothing is scheduled for release until July (Lion) or later, which leaves B2S as the subject of the visuals to go up on the 14th. To corroborate, my school's campus computer store told me they heard they'd get an Apple announcement the week of the 13th. With Lion slated for next month, and iOS and the rest of iCloud later this year, all I can think of for next week is B2S must be starting. Plus, really, what other than B2S is Apple going to contact a University storefront about?? I'll be setting my alarm early on the 14th to be first in line. :)

Ouch! Are you still in line;-)

Frankly, I figured out how I'm going to make up the lost $225 from the iPod I didn't get or the $100 iTunes App Store credit I didn't get. I'm just going to start my own website called "Mac Things That Could or Could Not Happen In the Next Few Days" and I'll have people like you and me log on to the site several times a day and be subjected to advertisements in the side bar from my sponsors. This ploy seems to work well for 9to5 Mac:

http://www.9to5mac.com/70490/apple-to-release-mac-os-x-lion-on-june-14th/

Then again, maybe I'll just use Twitter like ChronicWire:

LEAK: Apple Store displays will be updated Tuesday night for the Back To School promo, starting Wednesday, alongside the new MacBook Airs.

LEAK: Apple's BTS promotion slightly delayed, not starting Wednesday. Also, sources have confirmed the $100 iTunes gift card rumor is true.

Seriously, when have you EVER heard of an Apple event/release being "slightly delayed" at the last minute? I always thought they were more professional than that.

Anyways, I'm looking for a few reliable/unreliable "sources" to help me start up my website. You don't really have to know anything about computers/Apple at all, you just need to be able to make up rumors on a consistent basis. Creativity and imagination are a must. In addition, if you can throw the words "top secret", "guy at the Apple Store" or "online sales rep" into your rumors I will consider you as a prime candidate for the job. If you're interested in becoming part of this team, just shoot me a reply. Also, if you think you have some additional qualifications that you think would help your chances of landing one of these coveted positions, please list them.

I lol'd. But seriously, this is what Apple is about. keeping things very secret. You can consider EVERYTHING you hear about new products, promotions, etc as a rumour until confirmed by Steve himself. But speculation is half the fun I guess.

That being said, I am just as annoyed as yourself about waiting around for something to be announced.

Just heard the latest rumor. This year, the BTS promotion will be that you will be invited to Steve Jobs' house for dinner. Of course, since the number of people taking advantage of this opportunity will be huge, you probably won't get your turn until 2015.

I was actually told by an apple rep that the BTS for 2011 won't be starting until august. Instead of an ipod or an itunes gift card, you will be given one minute in the apple store. You can keep everything you can balance on two iTouch-es - one in each hand. You will not be able to keep the balancing touches, however you could try and stack some on top. Its been said that people who buy 17” Macbook Pros Or iMacs may be upgraded to iPads for balancing purposes, but this is not confirmed.

Now that's funny right there...I don't care who you are that's funny.
:D :)

I LOVE this thread :p I just don't care about getting a MBP with the BSP promo any more. I just read it to crack up with all the comments of you all :D

I'm tired of waiting for the BtS special. I'd like to know if this would work as an alternative to the wait...

1) Go online today, and order a 27" iMac with SSD + 1GB HDD -- BTO
2) While I am waiting for my mac, the BtS special will probably launch
3) Call Apple Care and ask for the rebate/gift card for my order
4) If they cannot grant the deal on a past order, return my iMac once it arrives to an Apple Store (well within the 14 days) and reorder the same machine online.

Question A: Do you think Apple Care would honor the deal on an order prior to the BtS announcement?

Question B: Do you think I would be charged anything for step 4 if it went that far?

As for the first question, there seems to be some lack of control of that. As far as I know from what I've heard/read, they don't have a specific policy for those cases. Read the previous pages of this thread because some people did as you say and anything can happen ;)

As for the second question, I don't know, really. I've never returned anything from Apple. I just purchased an iPod Touch last year and I'm keeping it very happily :)

Do you all think that they have discontinued the promo?? It would make sense, because I suppose that after releasing the same promo year after year, I'm sure it has been set a trend of people waiting on the BTS offer to get their Macs, so I guess that the sales of MB and MBP must have decreased throughout the year, with people taking the opportunity to buy their laptops in the summer months. Maybe in Apple they're trying to change that

But if that is the case and they have indeed discontinued the promo, do you think that they would be courteous enough to announce it publicly in stead of just letting us realize it on our own?? I don't know what to think... :/

A company is not going to make an announcement regarding NOT running a promotion that they have never promised to run in the first place - that's a rather negative announcement in marketing terms.

I'm just hoping they're waiting for their iPad stock to build up cause the offer is actually going to be a discount on one of those babes.

You're right about that, but I still think that it would be 'unfair' to us that they did so. That would sure piss many people off!! :p

Lol, I hope they haven't discontinued the promo :) My PC is at death's door. Today it has turned off by itself two times :( I suppose I could get by using my mum's laptop, but damn, that would be so irksome!!

The promo is on, will start likely tomorrow, and is a 100 itunes credit. How I know that posted here: https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=12763689#post12763689

I just find it funny that there are so many sites rote now that said today June 15 would be the day. The signage was changed and everything lol that's bs
Because I was just at my local apple store in staten island,ny and everything was still the same from last week. I am very friendly with the store manager who wasn't working today but I asked someone else I sort of knew and said I thought the BTS promo was sup posted to be starting today. He looked at me as if I had 2 heads lol I said yea it's all over the Internet and supposedly no more iPods they are being replaced by 100 iTunes gift cards and he laughed. joking with me because I sort of knew him just shopping there often. He said to me that you can't believe any of those things that sites post they are almost 99% wrong. Apple doesn't even tell us meaning it's employees anything about future products and promos. They find out when we find out maybe an hour or so before if they need to do a demo or something but that's really it. My store manager who I have a very good friendship has told me this in the past awhile ago also. I'm not saying that the rumor of no more iPods isnt true and i really hope it isn't. But the bottom line is every thing on evey site is a rumor with no credibility until apple officially announces it and or it's on apple.com.
I personally said my cut of date would be the 14th but then when I saw how many sites kept saying the 15th and then the rumor with the over night sinage change poped up I said fine I'd wait another day, then today comes around and look what happenes? Absolutely nothing same Shyt as every other day lol. I made up my mind I'm going tomorrow to buy my MacBook pro finally lol I cant wait to see what all these sites are gonna be saying now how the 15th has obviously came and gone.. What will the new rumor be? What will be that date? I do know that I have my 14 days and if something happens within that time I am going back and taking advantage of the promo. What is everyone else gonna do still wait lol? Good luck to all if u have the patience and the head seriously :apple: for ever lol

for me, an itunes credit would totally suck. being forced to buy overpriced itunes from them is unfair. why not at least a credit to apply to anything apple sells (though you are still forced to spend it in their store).

An iPod would definitely be better, but iTunes card is still useful. It seems many people associate iTunes with music & movies, but I rarely use my iTunes card for those. I use mine for Apps on the iOS app store (iPad) and since this next purchase will be my first Mac, it will help with any purchase through the Mac app store.

Again, it's not as good as an iPod (not that I would keep my anyways), but it's definitely not useless.

Yup I will confirm that with some photographic evidence: https://www.macrumors.com/2011/06/1...t-tomorrow-100-app-store-gift-card-confirmed/

It seems pretty legit to me. You need to zoom in on the fine print to get the details, but in short it starts June 16th, 2011 and ends September 20th, 2011. You will only get a 100 dollar iTunes gift card when you use your student discount. It isn't what we hoped for, but its not bad and hey we can stop flooding the forums now =) I don't know about you, but I'm about to go get my MBP!

I hope this is FINALLY true and it's not just somebody having fun with Photoshop :p I think that could be possible :D

Well, if in Europe it's a €75 gift card, then it is of benefit to me, since €75 is a little more money than $100, but still... It's just not as good a promotion as it was before :(

BTW, shouldn't it have started by now?? It's Thursday already.

Oh, damn!! It's 10:50 pm of Wednesday on California right now. Do we have to wait until it's midnight in ALL of the US??

Well, maybe next time I check the Apple website the promo will already be released :D
