Still a solid device, for sure. Not to mention it still matches the modern Apple lightning cable.

Exactly. It RARELY leaves the house and I use it for movies, music, and reading and light work. It's a great device and the weight doesn't bother me. I actually prefer it to the Air to be honest, it's solid as a rock.

Hoping for some nice new Apple covers and cases for these iPads. Won't be replacing my iPad Air but a new case would be nice.

Sloppy

Sloppy change management is sloppy.
I expect a good number of MacRumors readers are in the industry themselves and know whether it's public-facing announcements or code pushes, attention to detail is everything.
And lately, the most valuable brand in the world has appeared to struggle with the basics.

We've doubled-down on security - Tim

Security? I'm pretty sure secrecy is the word you were looking for.

Confirmation of everything we already knew. Like always. Only a day early. It's a vicious cycle. My excitement for tomorrow has been downgraded from "very" to "kinda".

So if Apple announces something tomorrow that you weren't expecting, you'll be stoked!

If these rumors of the new iPad are true, then I'm starting to laugh at how Apple is considered an "innovative" company. Nothing is innovative about releasing a product with almost absolutely nothing physically different than last year's product except maybe a faster chip and a fingerprint scanner. And even on the 2nd year cycle, the physical design is usually only slightly different. Innovative companies find what the consumers want now and build it into their products immediately. They don't watch other companies with similar products take the risk of whether consumers will like a new feature, innovative companies take the risk first. Apple has over 50,000 people working for them, so you would think they would have some input into how their products are designed. C'mon, Apple! I expected better from you.

LOL... Apple, you have had SO many fails lately with product secrecy, announcements, and buggy software. What is going on there?

Thing is, outside of this forum, no one even knows this happened. In fact, my friend that's as big of an Apple fan as me was the one who told me about it.

The overwhelming majority of Apple consumers have no clue about this.

This was most definitely on purpose. Leave it up long enough for the tech blogs to take notice then take it down. Every company in this space is screaming LOOK AT MEEEE.

All these one word posts? Macrumors rule breakers..

So is there any point watching tomorrow?

Finding out the release date of iOS 8.1/Apple Pay, retina iMacs (not interested, but a lot of people here are), and HOPEFULLY a damn update to Apple TV. 8.1 and Apple TV would make me a very happy man.

I think Apple did this on purpose so that they can just go over the new iPads quickly (like how they did the iPhone announcement) and then use the rest of the event to talk about new Macs. ;)

That naming scheme is awful. I though they were going in the right direction with the iPad 3, just referring to it as the new one - same as with the iPod Touches, they don't have version numbers. It just gets messy
