Just ordered by nano sim with Vodafone UK,

They said they have around 1000 people on hold at the time - but had 55,000 iphone to ship for next friday and only 7000 gone.

Sounds like a safe bet if Apples times are slipping

I ordered mine that way too, but looking at the fine print it says:

"Your iPhone has been reserved and should arrive as soon as Sept 21, 2012."

Let's hope that doesn't mean a month from today.

It seems that the ATT for individuals is still saying "delivers on 9/21," while ATT Premier is saying "as soon as 9/21". I don't know enough about ATT's divisions to know if they are each run by their own management team and have separate inventory, but it seems to be the case here, based on the wording on each site.

I tried ordering at 4:00am CDT, and it failed a bunch of times so I went back to bed .. tried it on att.com finally and got through around 8am, doubt i'll see it on the 21st.

LOL, hater to the bitter end. Do you ever have anything nice to say about Apple or the iPhone?

Yes, what a horrible company Apple is making a high quality product that appeals to the *majority* of the buying public. Huge mistake, nothing of interest to tech minded people, they'll never buy one.

So, Apple should target at selling to a market limited market of "enthusiasts" only? Feature/Function is driven by market demand the handful of "enthusiasts" would be a hobby project not a business trying to deliver innovative and amazing products.

Yeah, AT&T upgrade showing "as soon as" 8/21, with a A LOT of asterisks during the ordering process that delivery date is dependant on things such as inventory. We'll see when it arrives...

I am trying to order on the AT&T page through my iPad. I get to the point where it lets me select the phone I want. A box pops up with some info and a continue button at the bottom. When I press the button, it goes back to th e screen where I select a phone. What is the deal with this?

I called ATT and got through after 20 min only to lose my call after choosing my iPhone model. I can't call back because I am in a College class. The above problem still persists on the ATT page for me. I guess I won't be getting a phone on the 21st :(

Primer is the way to go!!

I did this last time and it great

AT&T Business Premier Store Order

Just order a couple in the Business Premier Store for work and they still showed arrival dates of the 21st.

Got in with Apple Store App early but couldnt order because billing information wasnt accurate on ATT. Ended up ordering at 12:57 and again at 1:17, both got 2 week notice, just checked says delivery expected on the 5th with standard shipping. Screw that I'll take my chances with the Apple Store.

I remember the last time I upgraded through my AT&T Premier account it said the same "as soon as" disclaimer and still arrived on the first day. So I'm not too worried.

Seriously people?

So you didn't get in the preorder. So you might have to wait a few more weeks to get a phone...a phone..REALLY?!

First world problems.

I ordered early this morning on the apple site and the estimated delivery is October 5th. If I go on AT&T's (which I couldn't this morning)- it says I can get it on the 21st. Has anyone cancelled their apple order and placed on AT&T's? I'm worried that my upgrade eligibility will not be available as soon as I cancel my apple.com order.

No surprise. They're selling like hotcakes!

Mark

No their not. Apple short supplied their chain just like normal. It's not that they couldn't make enough, it's that they didn't in order to look hotter than they are. Gees folks, get a clue already!

woke up with the apple store app ready on my phone. took 10-15 minutes of typing in my password because it kept timing out but it worked.

my guess is most people used a computer and apple has different web servers for computer and mobile and the mobile one wasn't as stressed

No, that spot was taken over by Android. That's why they activate 2 to 3 times as many Androids per day as Apples does. Android is why now the iPhone 4 is free. Before Apple has never had a free iPhone other than a limited short special through AT&T.

What's fun is that the carriers love selling unsubsidized phones, they get a free 19-20 bucks a month as you are still paying the subsidy that was built into your rate plan.
I agree. It's not like you can shop around for a different carrier, either. Here in Canada, all the carriers move in lock-step with changes to their plans. It doesn't really matter who you go with.

*they're

Well, I'm glad I got in the 1st 10 mins. This proves the world wants the iPhone 5 in the WORST way.

Or they only had 12* to sell. Until we know pre-order numbers it is all speculation at the demand for the phone.

* made that number up. I am sure they sold a bunch.

Customers may still be able to receive launch-day delivery by ordering through their carriers. AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint are listing 9/21 delivery dates at the time of this posting -- but those dates may not immediately reflect available stock.

Just ordered at 9:15 a.m. EDT/6:15 a.m. PDT directly through AT&T. My receipt said my phone "should arrive as soon as Sept 21, 2012."

Ordered 2 at 7:30 am CST through premier, both show to be delivered on the 21 st.

Thank you for your purchase from the Premier Online Store. We're pleased with your choice of AT&T as your wireless service provider.

Your iPhone has been reserved and should arrive as soon as Sept 21, 2012.

My friend just placed her order through AT&T website for a white 64gb model at 9:25am EDT, and the message on hers was "will deliver 9/21/12." So, perhaps the white models aren't as popular this time around.
