I found the process painless to be honest.

Went on my 4S to use the app, it came up 2 minutes early, by 3AM(Eastern) my iPhone confirmation was in my inbox already.

Easiest process ever

Anyone else getting an error page on apple.com when checking your order status??

Yeah - suspecting it's from the overload of people doing the same. Every second, people are pre-ordering this thing and the amount of people refreshing and hoping their delivery date is pushed back. That's A LOT of traffic.

The sellout record is meaningless without context. Did they sellout the same number of pre orders in 1 hour this year as they did in 22 hours last year? Just how many was it? No doubt the phone is popular, but context is needed to really understand what this actually means beyond generating headlines.

DARN IT. I went to the store at 3:30 AM EST and it wasn't working. Got up at 7:30 ... 2 weeks =(.

Sigh now I've reserved it at Rogers, but I'm number 695 for the 64 Gb Black.

I did not even think to get up in the middle of the night due to having to work bright and early, got to work, waffled on whether to through apple and use up that credit that is burning a hole in my pocket or go through rogers again, decided to stick it out again with rogers and I am #1255. Im not too worried about it as my 4 is working fine (despite its destroyed rear glass). I am not upset by the 2 weeks...its if it starts slipping from there :(

GG for those that burned the midnight oil getting in before the initial supply disappeared!

cant see images... can you summarize?

Note: Customers who are upgrading their iPhone are required to select one of the following rate plans for iPhone. To continue, select one of the data plans below. The data plan you select will replace your existing data plan.

There wasn't an option for unlimited of any sort. You are unable to proceed without choosing one of the listed plans.

It says I can't change it while it's processing when I press Edit Shipping Address. Did you do it another way?

It allowed me to change while it was "order processing". Don't know, maybe they changed something. Order status was down a little while ago.

Bah, just changed to processing - with an Oct 5th date.

Gives real meaning to the expression "you snooze, you lose"

You must be on AT&T. They'll try everything to make you give up unlimited.

Hey guys, just a question. I live in Aus and missed out on the first batch of online preorders (it now says 2 weeks), and I'm not sure if I can line up overnight outside an Apple store.

If I do wait for the next couple of batches (need to get a nanosim and stuff sorted out anyway), what are the chances of the phones having "warmer" screens? Is there any chance that the screens might not be all the same? I know Apple are sourcing them from a few companies.

Did the 4S have any discrepancies in screen quality? Or is this an old problem that only occured with the 3GS/4 (or whatever, can't remember).

I just don't want to spend $1000 AUD on a phone and then having a screen that's "warm". Will Apple swap the phone if I'm not happy with the screen?

So I got the "reservation" screen on Apple.com last night, said sure why not. Woke up this morning, went through with the reservation and paid etc. My order says

Available to ship: Delivers 9/21
Delivers Within 5 days after shipping by Standard Shipping

Does this mean I get it on the 21st or by the 26th?

My friend got his order in through Apple.com and his simply says "Available to ship: Delivers 9/21" without mention of 5 days after shipping.

Any ideas?

AT&T made it look like keeping data plan was simple to me. and next to my order it says 'ulimited data'. so hopefully i haven't been screwed over.

Does anyone know when they actually withdraw the funds for preorders? I will not have the available funds until the 20th...I'm hoping it won't be before then...

At the moment my order is still processing (for delivery on the 21st)...

They already withdrew the funds from my account... It's like anything else, they take your money when you order. With standard shipping, they're basically going to be shipping your phone starting early next week, so they're going to want the cash. If you registered to pick it up at a store, I believe you just have to pay at the store. That's what I did to get my 4, and paid when I picked it up.

I pre-ordered a black 64G iPhone 5 at 2AM PDT. My option was ship in 2 weeks or pick up at the store on Sept 21. I chose the ship for convenience because I don't have the time to wait in a long line for the phone next Friday or Saturday.

What I don't understand: Apple can ship my new phone to the store in time for a 9/21 pick-up, but if they ship to my home it will take an extra week? This makes no since.

Either way you're in for a wait. If you have 12 hours to kill and don't have to work, go for it - bring a comfy chair, some entertainment, and of course some brews. :)

If they let you proceed all the way though you should be ok. Whenever I tried to go around without selecting a data plan they wouldn't allow me to purchase the phone. I've always been on the unlimited plan.
I just tried again with another line, same thing. I'm not able to compete the purchase without abandoning my unlimited.

Anyone that ordered through AT&T receive a confirmation email yet? I have been waiting since 4 am and have gotten nothing. I would at least like that confirmation that shows my order has gone through.

Placed my order around 3:30 am EST. Got confirmation email
"Your order is being processed" at 3:53am with
iPhone 5 64GB Black & Slate (GSM), AT&T, 1, $399.00
Available to ship: Delivers 9/21"

Now I go online & check and it says the Oct5 nonsense! What on earth. Anyone else getting this?

You'll never know the answer to this. Even when they release earnings, you'll never know how many units were sold before the shipping date was changed. Probably only a few people in the company have this info.

I got my confirmation email that my order is being processed at 3:09 am EST and I'm still in the 9/21 delivery range. Maybe the carriers overloaded Apple with shipments or something?
