It probably makes the iPhone fit better in the hand. Too bad they don't have one for my 6s Plus. I'd get one.

So no reason not to buy the 7 case, unless you want to use the headphone jack.

They really need to offer a model that includes the headphone jack. Maybe a third party.

But Apple does need to include this same simple passthrough technology in their Lightning charging cables and eliminate that strip Belkin adapter they helped create.

First off, am I the only one who dislikes the silicon material? If they had a leather variant of this case I would be on board if it were in a darker black colour. And not to forget the ridiculous design...

I was hoping that dropping the headphone jack would allow them to redesign this product drastically whilst reducing the bottom chin bezel, I guess they were lazy. And where's the Plus model...
Leather? Eeeek, maybe for m grand parents...

It's still ugly and why didn't they make it so you could choose when your phone is charging? Most people would rather wait until their battery status got low and then enable charging.

Have an occasional use for all day photography without recharges (the stock 6s would always be a couple of hours short) & this would work quite well for that. Glad they didn't drop it.

I never understood this product, the design of it is just weird. I always thought they released it to soon and should have waited for the next iPhone with smart connectors on the back, like the iPad Pro.
Who in their right mind looks at the iPhone and thinks: Yeah, this phone needs more chin..

I was surprised that the iPhone 7 didn't carry the smart connectors, using those on a batterypack instead of the lightning-port would have made this product much nicer looking in my opinion.

2) Even using the case fully charged as intended, it still doesn't quite double your battery life. Again, Apple's own numbers back this up.
Obviously, there is some charging going while the phone is being used. Possibly because at peak consumption the external case cannot fully power the phone and when the internal battery gets depleted during such periods the external case recharges the battery.

I'd honestly, for the price, much rather get mophie (assuming it gets iPhone 7 support). You also get qi wireless charging built in and they've made some pretty handy car mounting options. I've considered one but just never pulled the trigger.

As customers around the world begin receiving Apple's iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case, it has now been confirmed that the charging case is rated for 2,365 mAh, ...

Chinese technical certifications revealed that the iPhone 7 likely has a larger 1,960 mAh battery, as previously rumored, meaning Apple's Smart Battery Case can charge the smartphone fully with roughly 17% capacity remaining.
If MacRumors is figuring the 17% as (2,365 - 1,960) / 2,365, that's not taking conversion losses into account. The circuitry is never 100% efficient, there will be some loss from components in the battery pack converting the energy stored in its battery back out to 5V to feed into the phone, and some additional loss in the phone from the phone's charging circuitry converting it back into energy stored in the phone's battery. Even if both ends of the chain together worked out to be 90% efficient, you're closer to 7% extra capacity remaining rather than 17%.

Still, if this case fit my use cases, I'd totally get one. I don't think it's ugly, but then I tend to see beauty in well-engineered things, irrespective of whether their surfaces are sleek. The case slims down at the ends, making it slide into the pocket easier and fit nicer when the bottom end is cradled in the hand while talking on the phone. If it were full thickness along the entire length, it would be less comfortable to hold and harder to carry. So the shape chosen maximizes storage while minimizing impact on use (and if you really hate the way it looks, no one is forcing you to buy it - we don't actually need 37 different comments saying it's ugly, you can just "like" one of the existing comments).

Compared to other battery cases, the integration into the system (charge with existing Lightning cable, battery and phone charge simultaneously and the phone uses the battery pack first, plus the phone can display the pack's remaining charge) is a big win, as is the ability to easily extract the phone from the case to switch to a lighter/slimmer case when the battery isn't needed (I know folks with non-battery Otterbox cases - because their kids drop their phones a bunch - and taking one of those off is an ordeal; my understanding is that some of the battery cases are similarly difficult).

*: (my use case being, my iPhone 6's battery does fine on its own throughout the day, but I often go out walking at night, frequently playing Ingress - which eats battery - and so sometimes need a lot of extra power; in this case, since I'm holding the phone out in front of me for long periods of time, having a large battery in a pouch on my belt with only the cable going to the phone, is lighter and more convenient to hold. If my battery was frequently running somewhat low during the day, when my phone was frequently in my pocket, Apple's battery case would be perfect.)

I have the iPhone 6 Smart Battery Case for my 6 and use it daily. Sure, it doesn't look sleek and great, but frankly, I don't give a rat's ass when I gotta get through the day running my business through it with heavy use. It did the job well, unfortunately it'a priced so high, but that's what you get with Apple, right? Frankly, I'd probably not really need it if the iPhone 7's battery life claims are applicable for real-world use, but just off how well this 6 one has performed, I'd probably holla at this one too seeing as though I'd be getting a case anyway.

you have to be an insanely hardcore iPhone user all day to even consider one of these and not just have a USB cable to charge your phone in your car or desk at work.

I quite like the case. It's better than any other battery case I've owned (Mophie, Anker), and it's integration into the OS is nice. However, the iOS10 update has caused problems. Sometimes the phone doesn't register that the battery is there. At other times, the phone just drains both batteries extremely quickly. I wish I didn't need the case battery, but my iPhone 6 is simply not reliable; the OS does not do a good job of reporting current battery status and I've been caught out many a time as a result.

Jobs would never have released such an ugly product.

Oh wait...

I am sure that if you run down your phone's battery once a month, that is pretty much sufficient. Just use your phone once per month without the case and you're set.
Overall, the battery doesn't like to be at 100% charge. Even if you did that, it would still be at 100% charge most of the time. Either way, your phone won't blow up like a Samsung....

the apple designers that came up with this garbage must be the same ones that decided the plastic bean was the best way aesthetically to offer wifi on the iPod touch...
