"Today when you click on a banner ad, it yanks you out of your app and throws you onto the advertisers web page. So people don't click on the ads."

Maybe because there hasn't been multi-tasking yet, Steve! :D

I like it!

Service #1, 2, 3, 7 are pretty-much what I predicted here:

(Page down to comment #9).

It's only logical. With a clean slate, plenty of time to mull it over and think about how to do it right, this was the right way to do things.

Haven't seen anything about limiting background apps to a % of total CPU. Not doing so might be the downfall of iPhone multi-tasking and turn it into a useless Windows Mobile-like device which every user is going to load up with background tasks. Of course, every developer things their app is SO SPECIAL that it needs 101% of CPU when working in background. ;)

Yes, for Skype. But there is a limited set of apps that can support multitasking (only 7 services are provided for multitasking). The majority of apps will just have access to the ability to save their state and relaunch. From what I can tell, Apple didn't add the ability for IM apps to run in the background. I found that to be a huge oversight since that is one of the few apps that truly needed it.

We've had push notifications since last summer.

I use AIM. It works great. What else do you need?

i Do Not Want Ads In Apps That I Purchase!

So then don't buy apps with ads in them?

This isn't some great injustice people; all Apple is doing is giving developers who want to continue to produce ad-supported apps a way to do so that is better than the current options.

10:54AM "Here's some news... there's an ad for Toy Story 3 down there... it's a great movie Disney is putting out. I've seen it, it's a really good movie!" Ha! Big laughs. "So all this is done in HTML5 by the way." Ouch! More laughs for Steve.

hahaha

I am officially leaving Apple for good. No new UI. Android UI is way better. I feel like I'm buying the same model car with enhancements for four straight years.

If you own an iPhone, you've gotten the enhancements for free so what are you complaining about? Ever heard the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? iPhone OS is so widely used because it is well liked, efficient, and easy to learn. Why do they need to be revolutionary with the UI now? I think the enhancements are great and I look forward to the release.

Leave it to Apple to make ads impressive. If flash on Apple's mobile devices wasn't dead already, it is now.

*I love how people are hung over the UI.... forget all the great stuff going on underneath the aesthetics.

I do wonder if GameCenter will be free. MS charges (So far Sony doesn't) but we all know keeping servers with that info isn't free.

Apple doesn't do "free" so much. Cool, well designed, great UI, yes. Free, no. Unless maybe it comes free for those who have or get a mobile me account.

cool - good for you - you should use what you like and enjoy the most.

but, if you are "officially leaving Apple for good", then why you still hanging around and whining in your other posts? please do the mature thing and leave like you said...
