Totally killing everything else...
Bur they have the hardware and software (funnily enough a pokemon heart gold ad just came on tv as I said that)
just would be nice for them to get a proper online service up...downloadable games/etc.

Maybein 5 years :D
Nintendo does a fine job with their hardware and software integration. They even have plenty of first party software that's enough to entice people to spend money on a console that's not sold at a loss. Profits off of the hardware and software? Who would have thought of that?

You can download games and demos right now. You can even get DLC content from going in store.

One more thing, the Wii can handle any sized optical disc with its slot drive.

I know about dlc on wii.
But you can't download full games, or wii demos yet. (or gc games...would be a nice addition to the virtual console)

for example I seem to buy any games possible on xbox/xbla as opposed to wii because there's a)acheivements and b) dlc works much better there (case in point:rock band)
Nintendo did send IGN forever blue 2 via a download though...which is interesting..(as they could be moving more to their online focus soon...I hope!)

Go buy an Android phone then. You have the right to choose. Good Lord. OS X isn't broken so why try to fix it. iPhone OS isn't broken either. Anyone expecting a revolution is just setting themselves up for a big disappointment.

I have seen Android 2.1. My wife has a Droid. I like it but it is not as good as my iPhone.

Well I do have a nexus one, and its notification system and multitasking is leaps over iphone!

Oh since I have to state why I am here but bashing on the iphone.. I own ipods and currently have a 15in macbook pro and 13in macbook pro and time capsule....

Why, for the love of everything holy, can't the iPhone OS merge multiple contacts/calendars such as Android and Web OS. I will not, and cannot, return to the iPhone until this feature is present. Looks like I'll be hoping for new Palm hardware to keep me satisfied until this seemingly 'no brainer' feature is added to iPhone OS.

so lets see here.

Same crappy notification system that is very outdated,

Folders- About time. Should of been include when we could download apps.
Multitasking- About time. Should of been include when we could download apps.

As for not allowing 3G to do multitasking apple excuses for it are pure BS. They are about as valid as the excuse that the 3G can not do Video recording and way the first gen iPhone can not do MMS.

As for proof of this you have to look no farther than the jailbreak community.

I think it is sad that apple takes features that other smart phones have had for years and scream how they are brand new. Android, Palm and Blackberry all have had folders, and multitasking that works very well for years now and the iPhone FINALLY adds it can claim it is brand new.....

Any answer to the 'Why can't you run anything you want?' question except 'You can next patch' will be unsatisfactory to people who care about such things. In terms of BS answers, though, that's pretty hilarious.

-5 Crippled iPhone 3G compatibility.

The only reason I take issue with this is because Apple is STILL SELLING the iPhone 3G in their stores!

I fully understand and expected that my 1st Gen iPhone would not be compatible but my wife's one year old iPhone 3G will be crippled? Are you serious?

And I'm getting sick of HTML5 this and HTML5 that....
Agreed with the list except the last point. The 3G has the same internals as the iPhone

(Oops, sorry, quoted the wrong text and can't find the original post, asking for a link to the 4.0 preview...)

If you're a dev, just log-in to the iPhone Dev Center, fill out the new developer survey, accept the two new agreements, and you'll see a tab for the iPhone SDK 4 beta.

If you're not a developer, there's no link that's going to get this for you.

Oh, and nobody can talk about it until it's released. So, now that I've poked around, I can't offer any more insight on how they might/are implementing multi-tasking. I'll just say I'm pleased.

honestly, compared to android notifications, the iPhone OS notification system does seem broken.

LOL, there are many that agree with you. I can't tell you how many times I have had to argue with people in theses forums who said multitasking wasn't needed. Where are they today?

hey hey, it was because Apple didnt have it so it means its awesome and unneeded

now that they have it, it is awesome and needed

welcome to the mind of a fanboy lol

Awesome if you have a 3Gs or iPod Touch 3G.

Not important for me.

I guess I'll have to wait for the new iPhone hardware before finally taking the Android plunge. It doesn't look like there will be too many changes though.

Multiple exchange accounts. Does that mean you could have multiple GMail accounts pushing to your device through Exchange?

Engadget reports that it is not preemtive multitasking but cooperative multitasking. Windows 3.x here we go again!

backgrounder on 3.0 and 3.1 on the 3G was awful. multitasked apps crashed for me regularly. It was that and tethering I jailbroke for and I ended up going back to default firmware.

Q: Are you concerned about leaving out your older customer base (with the lack of features for older devices). A: (Steve) Well, a lot of these products that are out there are the most recent products. The old devices will get the update, but they'll miss some of these features like multitasking. If that's an incentive for them to upgrade to a new device... terrific.

I'm sure by the time 4.0 is out they will be shipping or close to shipping a new version of the iPhone, at which time they will stop selling the 3G and sell the 3GS and 4g/HD - if they decide to keep selling the 3GS.

I wonder why they don't censor safari on iphone os as well as OS X then?
They aren't selling or hosting that content. Just like a convenience store isn't supposed to sell Playboy magazines to anyone under 18; Apple is acting as the vendor here, they have to control things like that.

Did...did you not see how Jobs said:

"Now we weren't the first to this party, but we're gonna be the best. Just like cut and paste."

You did see that right? I don't remember anyone mentioning steve talking about this amazing new technology called multitasking.

Yes, I saw that. Quote for me exactly the part that they will ban ads in paid apps.

"Jobs: There will be no bitching ads in no bitching paid apps"

Ok so he may have mentioned reasonably priced ads (someone above caught me). Lying is more fun though.

Look at the bright side. We all have choice.
