Yeah, Apple should dump the iPhone completely - Phones are 1870's technology.
Except the iPhone isn’t so much a phone as it is a pocket-sized computer.

Probably not a lot since most folks go wireless or use the earphones that come with the iPhone.
I upgraded all my headphones and audio cables to Lightning.I already switched to Samsung/Android, largely because of the headphone jack and everything works great.
So why are you here?
You are right, its the people who buy it at whatever price Apple charge that make the price so high. Price is dictated by demand.I don't understand "Apple is greedy" statement. It's not like you are forced by Apple to buy their products. I made the switch to Samsung last year because I feel iPhone is becoming too expensive but I didn't call the company greedy.
Except the iPhone isn’t so much a phone as it is a pocket-sized computer.
You can only choose one but not both:
- You want Apple to be overly profitable.
Or
- You want Apple to include accessories.
Just pathetic. Next they'll charge extra for a SIM card eject tool.
They include Lightning EarPods and sell AirPods so the adapter was becoming unnecessary.
Even as an audiophile I have both Lighting headphones from Audeze as well as Bluetooth headphones (AirPods, Solo3, etc.) so it makes sense they want to push people towards Bluetooth and Lightning options.
Fast chargers are cool but degrade the battery faster, and the majority of people aren’t using USB-C yet. They’ll make the transition eventually.
Here come the inane comments from people using 1950s technology.
Not patronizing at all, I'm sorry your feelings were hurt. Just common sense. Open your wallet and reward companies who provide what you want. Simple.
On the contrary - I am proud to contribute to the base salary of modest guys like Tim or Phil. And Angela deserves a new pair of spectacles as far as I’m concernedRight on. But you'll get no forum cred here with that attitude. Gotta jump on the juvenile "Apple is greedy" train...
and every other device, including my macbook, has the 3.5mm jack...They're not proprietary. Many brands make Lightning headphones.
Good for you being rich (compared to 90% for the world). Meanwhile the rest of us still have loads of legacy headphones and cars from before 2010 that don't have Bluetooth.I’ve been headphone jack-less for a year and I’ve used that dongle zero times.
Sorry you’re not as fortunate but you shouldn’t be buying Apple products. Get a more affordable phone with a headphone jack. Maybe even jump for a phone without a touch screen paired with a low cost MP3 player. Many options other than Apple out there.Good for you being rich (compared to 90% for the world). The jack is also missing from the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7 boxes...
You can get Bluetooth receivers for equipment without Bluetooth built in ranging from small battery powered adapters to small mains powered boxes.I listen to music at home by plugging my phone into nice Audioengine speakers. If I get a new phone without the headphone jack are the speakers useless with it? Or is there some kind of adapter to make non-bluetooth speakers bluetooth compatible?
