Of course they won't provide these to customers. It's because Apple's number one focus "is the customer".

Tim Cook is a psychopath.

The headphone jack is the issue why my wife will not upgrade from the 6S. And if the iPad loses the jack, then no upgrades for the iPad. Her logic is that with the kids, and their friends, it is too difficult to carry and to buy replacement dongles.

And of course, the sound quality with wireless is not yet as good as even mid-level headphones: she loves her Etymotic ER4SR's . . . for quiet time and downtime while the kids are training.

You can only choose one but not both:

- You want Apple to be overly profitable.

Or

- You want Apple to include accessories.

I don't understand "Apple is greedy" statement. It's not like you are forced by Apple to buy their products. I made the switch to Samsung last year because I feel iPhone is becoming too expensive but I didn't call the company greedy.
You are right, its the people who buy it at whatever price Apple charge that make the price so high. Price is dictated by demand.

Except the iPhone isn’t so much a phone as it is a pocket-sized computer.

Computers - also outdated technology - been around since the 1940s.

The best thing for customers and the environment would be is if you could redeem getting a free adaptor at Apple stores provided you have one of the new iPhones. Then Apple wouldn't waste resources putting them in phones that people don't use and also possibly they'd keep prices down.

bye-bye headphone jack..

Just pathetic. Next they'll charge extra for a SIM card eject tool.

Knowing Apple, that's probably right. Although it might annoy people who wanna eject their SI only to find there is no eject tool in the box...

Everyone noways has safety pins right ? That's what i use, if i loose mine.

They include Lightning EarPods and sell AirPods so the adapter was becoming unnecessary.

Even as an audiophile I have both Lighting headphones from Audeze as well as Bluetooth headphones (AirPods, Solo3, etc.) so it makes sense they want to push people towards Bluetooth and Lightning options.

Why was it unnecessary? Perhaps you want the earphones of your choice?

Oh you "have etc etc", that makes it OK for Apple to do this, because you have a certain type of earphones? how about those that don't?

Fast chargers are cool but degrade the battery faster, and the majority of people aren’t using USB-C yet. They’ll make the transition eventually.

Shouldn't majority of Mac users be courageous enough to use new macs with usb-c? Or is courage reserved or Apple only. Especially when they are cutting features people actively use everywhere? Comparing the headphone jack to a floppy drive makes zero sense. Nobody was really using the floppy even when it was discontinued. People STILL use 3,5mm jack two years after Apple courageously decided to cut costs.. I mean, wanted to provide us with better ways to listen to music. Too bad the adapter broke on the first time I connected it and stuffed the phone in my pocket. Didn't bother to buy a new one, I'll just listen to music from other devices.

Not patronizing at all, I'm sorry your feelings were hurt. Just common sense. Open your wallet and reward companies who provide what you want. Simple.

No its not that simple. For the price you expect also consistency. And what Apple is doing right now is a mess. I cant charge my phone with my computer and cant use included by apple headphones. Thats just ridiculous. Just decide on the standard and keep up with your decision.

Right on. But you'll get no forum cred here with that attitude. Gotta jump on the juvenile "Apple is greedy" train...
On the contrary - I am proud to contribute to the base salary of modest guys like Tim or Phil. And Angela deserves a new pair of spectacles as far as I’m concerned

I’ve been headphone jack-less for a year and I’ve used that dongle zero times.
Good for you being rich (compared to 90% for the world). Meanwhile the rest of us still have loads of legacy headphones and cars from before 2010 that don't have Bluetooth.

Sorry you’re not as fortunate but you shouldn’t be buying Apple products. Get a more affordable phone with a headphone jack. Maybe even jump for a phone without a touch screen paired with a low cost MP3 player. Many options other than Apple out there.

exclude these cheap a** lightning headphones and bring back the adapter nobody needs them anyways, sound is cheap, they don't fit, can't use them on other devices + they hurt over time because they're made out of cheap plastic

I listen to music at home by plugging my phone into nice Audioengine speakers. If I get a new phone without the headphone jack are the speakers useless with it? Or is there some kind of adapter to make non-bluetooth speakers bluetooth compatible?
You can get Bluetooth receivers for equipment without Bluetooth built in ranging from small battery powered adapters to small mains powered boxes.

I think this really is terrible that they don’t include the adapter.

Do think it was a coincidence that the SE and iPhone 6s were discontinued? They were the last iPhones to contain a fixed audio jack. Now there gone, go wireless for 170.00 or buy the adapter for 10.00 bucks. Look how much your savings by getting the adapter. Lol
