Yeah, it sucks for us in this time zone that we probably won't be able to get a decent nite's sleep... Last time I kept waking up about every hour to check. At least our Aussies get to work all day and go home in time to watch the keynote.

I just can't wait anymore!!! I think I'll be taking a sleeping pill (or maybe a hundred) cz its just too much! that way the time will fly by fast, and maybe when i wake up ill have DHL on my door delivering the infamous tablet or whatever!

Man Utd or Apple Tablet??

It starts at 6pm in the UK and my dilemma was whether to go to a bar with friends to watch Manchester United Vs Manchester City in a cup game at 7.30pm or stay at home and watch the text feeds from the keynote (or whatever surprise 9to5mac are gonna pull).

Now this thread has offered a solution- go out with friends, come back in and tune in here for when the spoiler-free keynote arrives, at about midnight GMT if what you guys are saying about previous quicktime streams pans out again!

Thanks guys, see you later!

(p.s. I can't remember how many years we have been reading tablet rumours, and now it is here and we get to see whether Steve's perfectionism has nailed it again. I also am waiting for MBPs to upgrade from my trust 12" 1Ghz PB which I dearly love).

Yay, I'm excited. The problem is I have a lot of stuff tonight so I may not be able to watch it right away.:(
I wish they would stream it live. I hate waiting for hours, stuck in this thread.

Its good seeing some of the regulars here tho.:D

Like in every keynote, there are "leaked" last minute rumors and pictures flying around already. Be careful where you tread (most veterans won't need this kind of advice).

@danBUK: Watch the game, record it, watch it again. By the time you're done the keynote will probably be up :D:D:D

Recent Apple announcements seem to have had a wait significantly longer than a couple of hours. Because waiting hours early can be draining, I thought it might be worth the community here putting together a list of the wait time for previous events (i.e. January announcements, September iPod announcements, Macworld (if not live).

2009 September-???
2009 January- ???
...

And another request for those "spoiled" individuals who are kind enough to update the rest of on the board. If there is any significant non-Apple news, especially considering the State of the Union (that's the President's big address, for our international friends) but also anything else, you could always drop us a head's up. Of course, links could have spoilers elsewhere on the pages, but even headlines would be appreciated if anything big happens (it doesn't have to be That big, but imagine embargoing oneself from the news the day of the Haiti Earthquake)

luckily, there are tech news free websites that can somewhat.

That's a very good point that I didn't even think about. It would be much appreaciated.

For the ipod even on september 9:

- The podcast started downloading on itunes around 7h 45 min after the event started

- The actual stream link was posted 9h 15 min after the event started.

I don't remember about previous events, WWDC 09 didn't take so long I think.

youre not safe there either, think of ads, and i dont trust ad block pro to block everything so anyone who really wants to be safe from spoilers should stay here in this nice little thread (or, of course, completely shut down you computer and ... play guitar or sth)

im gonna practice sweep pickeng now ;D

UK spoiler free-ers

Just a heads up for those (non-veterans) in the UK planning to watch the keynote in the morning.

Avoid BBC Breakfast. They plan to cover it tomorrow. The wife always has it on when I come down so i'll have to stick my fingers in my ears and do the "la la" thing whilst walking, eyes shut across the kitchen to switch off the telly.

I've gone 'dark' now as my feeds keep saying "latest pictures here, etc".

It's getting dangerous out there...

Batten down the hatches...

Shut out the world...

It's coming.

As the keynote will be starting at 7pm here, I'm seriously considering not to wait for the stream but to get up early and watch it first thing in the morning before I have to go to work tomorrow.

I just need to remember to use my iPhone as alarm clock, not my clock radio. This morning when I got up they were talking about the ramifications of an Apple Tablet between each song, for over half an hour. Imagine what the topics will be tomorrow morning...

But hey, I'll probably wait until midnight anyway...

State of the Union

Spoiler free is the way to go! I just hope apple posts the Jobs' "State of the Slate" address such that it doesn't interfere with Obama's "State of the Union" address. If the keynote is posted after the State of the Union, any chance Obama is gunna give away the surprise in his speech? Haha
:apple:

Ok well time for school. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid everything during the day... Be back in 5 hours.

I'm sure he's been begging Steve to switch places :)

I've been using these spoiler free threads for quite a while now, and figured it's time to participate.

It's going to be difficult to avoid spoilers for this announcement, given the mainstream media's high interest in whatever Apple is releasing today.

Shutting down now and looking at the spoilerfree page in 7 hours again. Hopefully my friends understand when I tell them to not tell me anything which might be in the Web or the TV.

Isn't it sad that we all have to do this? I mean, shutting down everything as there always are some stupid folk begging for attention just because they were first by spoiling things? On the other hand, I very much welcome that there are still some people here sharing the same fascination about watching a stevenote at (almost) first hand. Ironically, this is more or less the opposite of what the rumored product will be used for by most of the buyers.
