I was quite excited about this when they announced it but the downsides are too many.

If the price drops a little and I end up travelling for work again, I might bite. If I did, I'd buy an Anker 60w 2x USB port charger instead of the Apple 20w for it.

Lot's of if's, so I doubt I'll be buying this ever!

If you're using the MagSafe Duo to charge your iPhone and Apple Watch while you're sleeping… it's not really a serious issue – both devices will be fully charged in the morning.

But €149 is still way too much for this non 15W charger without a power source.

HK$1,049 is equal to AUD$185
It was a joke lol. Many don’t understand how currency exchange rates work. Or their own GST/VAT/whatever. I’ve seen people complain when they’re actually paying a bit less than we do, which happens a lot in Canada.

btw, that AUD$199 includes tax, it’s only AUD$180.91 before the GST. And that’s 132.45 in US dollars. A big fat whoppin’ $3.45 more than we pay here in the States 🙄

Hi! Here at Apple we developed this cool, creasing-prone, PORTABLE AND CONVENIENT charger:

And you need THIS POWER ADAPTER to make it work:

How many do you want to buy?

That’s odd. Apple AU usually adds a lot more margin to their products. I’m sure they’ll soon realise their error and make it an additional $34.50 😅

Don’t fancy lifting that up with my phone with my watch still attached (sarcasm)

here’s an idea why not have a cable to plug into the bottom of the phone? 🙄

wireless charging is useless and wastes power! All this struggle to remove the last port in the phone...honestly apple the lightning port don’t offend me, and phones don’t need to be thinner than that socket!

MagSage charger are making my iPhone really hot while charging :( Anyone experiencing this problem.
I have that issue charging my iPhone 12PM and iPhone XS Max to the pucks... I thought one of the pucks is defective... but the other one wasn’t any better. Used the 90wRavpower and the 18w Apple iPP adapter... both generated too much heat that is concerning!

I wonder this is probably why the AirPower never was solve and release... now we some or most of us are encountering warm to hot pucks. I won’t be surprise if this duo would generate heat the same as the individual pucks. Very concerning...

Firstly - I honestly, literally, couldn’t care less. My phone and watch will both be fully charged when I wake up.

Secondly - why are so many people blaming MagSafe for this perceived flaw? You think magnets ensuring your devices are correctly aligned is somehow reducing the charging efficiency?

I'm willing to pay a premium for apple products, but come on... No way I'll ever buy that.
I agree it’s very expensive, but given the price of the standalone Apple Watch dock I was expecting it to be more.

I’ll potentially be getting one when I know more about the material being used. I’m worried it will be similar to the Smart Kayboard Folio and Magic Keyboard and look and feel terrible after a few months.

If MagSafe is the plan for eliminating the lightning port entirely (and no USB-C etc.) they had better make this work a whole hell of a lot better. I think we bought ourselves at least another year, if not the generation (I think generations tend to be 3 years, so we have 2 additional years of this design to go) because of the fairly negative reaction...

It looks like it's made out of the same upper material as the Apple Watch magnetic charging dock. The only difference is that instead of soft felt bottom, the entire MagSafe duo body is wrapped in the same top material. It's bright white in person.

I question the decision to put a bright white material directly on the bottom.

And the best thing about this:

The more people buy these wireless chargers, the better an argument Apple has to leave out a physical charging port on their future iPhones.
It sounds like you think Apple wanting not to have a port is some sort of nefarious plot to screw over the consumer. It’s not.

Or maybe I read too much in to your comment 🤣

I guess if you're not bothered about sleep tracking, a brand new feature [for Apple] for the Watch series 6, then you're all sorted, but plenty of folks are. I have often wondered how a watch with an 18 hour battery life would work with sleep tracking, but that's for another day.

I guess that folks are "blaming" the MagSafe for the reduced charging efficiency for a couple of reasons, Apple made claims that because of the magnets and the guaranteed connection, they could charge twice as fast as Qi charging, this is offically now not the case; indeed beyond an iPhone 12 it seems even slower than standard Qi charging. [notwithstanding that wireless charging is upto 50w with other manufacturers]. Secondly, the MagSafe removes one [the only one?] of the conveniences of "wireless" charging in that you can just place your phone down and pick it up, which clearly is not the case with MagSafe....only Apple could sell wireless charging without being wireless [I know nothing is wireless], but hey, to top it off, it costs £150 for the pleasure.

I don't like the direction Apple is going with wireless charging. Its the lightning cable all over again in that they are trying to make wirelesss charging proprietary to Magsafe. My iphone 12 Pro Max charges at a snails pace with all of the wireless chargers I've purchased over the years. Our other iPhones charge quickly, but the 12 Pro Max and 12 charge so slow that its not even worth using the chargers we have.
