Why I still get your blubbering via email notifications despite the fact you're deservedly on my Ignore list is beyond me, but I do have to reply to this latest tripe if only to nominate this little gem for Most Ignorant Comment Of The Month:

(Emphasis mine.)

Because you haven't ignored me

As for my comment, I know it hurts you because you're one of those customers constantly going to your Apple store on your free time and drooling while playing with Apple products; truth hurts!

I'm not saying this at all, but Enderle clearly gives credit for this particular implementation to the company that makes him foam at the mouth.

As for my "wrong" statement that Apple invented multitouch - I said nothing of the sort. Again, Microsoft's copy of Apple's implementation is confirmed by Enderle himself.

I don't know is MS copied Apple's implementation and honestly I don't care. I'm not defending MS here, all I'm saying is that credit should be given to the people at FingerWorks who DID invent multi-touch. Then Apple bought the company. Documents, courts, brand names, etc, can say whatever they want, Apple did not invent multi touch, as some fanboys like to say.

Astroturfing is a "ridiculous concept?" Uh huh. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

In this context, yes it is. You assume everyone who criticizes Apple and/or defends any other company, be it MS, Nokia, etc. are paid astrosurfers. This is delusion my friend.

Protip: don't assume I assume anything of the sort. I've never tried a multi-touch PC and I have no opinion about them. Nor do I imply that I do in my comment.

I can say I've never had to try five times to enlarge a photo on my iPhone before it actually worked.

Ok, but wait, you are now trying to imply that one product is bad, by saying that another unrelated product is good.

More specifically, you are saying that one implementation is bad, because another implementation works fine.

I don't like making this kind of comments because it just inspires unnecessary **** fests, but Jobs actually said something like this back in 1996:

If I were running Apple, I would milk the Macintosh for all it's worth — and get busy on the next great thing. The PC wars are over. Done. Microsoft won a long time ago.

He went back to apple, and he is doing just that. Look at the iPhone, at the iPod, and rumored "tablet", or the fact that he changed the company from Apple Computer Inc. to Apple Inc.

I wouldn't be sure about that. Go back a few pages and you'll see some atrocious arguments in the name of Apple and Steve Jobs.

Don't tell me, tell Rob Enderle. He seems to be the one with whom you have a beef.

That's rubbish. I never said or implied anything of the sort.

That said, there are clearly members of this forum who are only here to antagonize other members or spew their own flavor of Apple haterade - or exclusively sing the praises of the competition. And some make such an extensive career of it that you can't help but question their underlying motives.

I'm saying I have no experience or opinion regarding touch-based PCs, though one has to be less than impressed with Enderle's photo zoom demo.

The PC wars were over. For a time. But this is a new age, and a new battle has begun. And its not just Apple v. Microsoft this time. Its Apple v. Google v. Microsoft v. Linux v.....

The days of Microsoft's iron-fisted rule over the personal computing world are numbered. Times have changed, as times tend to do.

He went back to apple, and he is doing just that. Look at the iPhone, at the iPod, and rumored "tablet", or the fact that he changed the company from Apple Computer Inc. to Apple Inc.

A strategy that seems to be working just fine.

Any ignoramus silly enough to claim that Apple customers don't criticize Apple products is worthy of complete disregard. The argument is ludicrous. These forums are bursting with criticisms of Apple, and not just from the full-time Haters Brigade (of which Wakashizuma is a card-carrying member). Good grief, every consumer PC you see on every retail shelf these days has a glossy screen, yet Apple customers are ready to go to war for a matte screen option. The list goes on and on.

Strawman argument. Nobody is saying that. What I (and others) have said is that it's strange how in the last year or so, people seem to join MR, randomly drop into a thread, denounce Apple as evil, tell some unlikely sounding stories about the hardware dying left and right and Apple customer service not giving a rip, and then not respond again. Just seems a little odd.

And if you think it's unlikely, go Google "Microsoft astroturfing" and read up. It's happened before.

Lol times have changed
Microsoft still owns the PC Market whether the mac lovers like it or not. It's funny how when iPod comes up it is all about marketshare and marketshare and domination and we are told people have "chosen" the right product. Yet when it comes Microsoft and their domination it aint matter. It's hard time for you guys to accept but Apple have been trying for years and customers have constantly told them where to go when it comes to computers. Not everyone likes to be taken for a fool like Apple fanboys!

What does this have to do with the topic of 27" iMacs and Flash?

Apple has a problem with Flash and it needs to fix it. Both on the Mac and on the iPhone. But it has nothing to do with Microsoft, or your rants.

Funny thing is that Apple's products and service have never been better. I've been using Macs since the early 90s and I've seen it for myself. Apple's at the top of their game right now. I've never seen so much interest in Macs amongst my Windows-using friends as I see right now.

Well, I've been using Macs since 1984, and Apple II's since 1978, and I have to agree, this is the most popular and successful Apple has ever been in the computer world. They are getting great synergy between iPhone, iTunes and the Mac lineup and that should continue into Video and TV offerings.

As far as the iMac Flash problem, Adobe is posting on their site that it is a old Flash version problem and that if you upgrade your flash plugin, that was released in the update to 10.6.1, the problem goes away. This from the Adobe site:

"Adobe recommends all users update to the latest, most secure version of Flash Player (10.0.32.18 as of September 2009).

Apple has included this version in the Mac OS X v10.6.1 Update, release September, 10 2009. For details see "About the Mac OS X v10.6.1 Update".

And meanwhile, Microsoft fans in defense of their beloved Zune and XBox360 have taken to the uncomfortable mantra that being number one in market share doesn't equal quality and that only the mindless, brainwashed herds are the ones buying iPods.

See, fanboy stupidity cuts both ways. Neither side is better than the other. What satisfaction do you derive from arguing one way or the other about it?

This is one I love. I'm sorry, the Xbox 360 needs no defense. It stands on its own. And for the record it's hard for me to say that given that I was a long time sony fanboy.

And while market share is correlated to quality, it doesn't exactly means that the most sold item is the best. Proof, the audio quality and codec support of the iPod is certainly not best one in the market, yet it's the biggest seller in mp3 players. The fact is, people don't care about the best quality, people just care about something that works. The same happens with Windows (I always say Windows is great but I never said Windows is the best, before you jump all over me).

I dont know about Xbox 360 since they have a respectable share in their respective market. They are only behind Wii and if you have seen the latest numbers, the Wii sales have came down as much as 43% while Sony and Microsoft have been keeping it constant

If anything, it used to be Sony fanboys (second only to Apple fanboys when it comes to fanboyism) that trashed both Nintendo and Microsoft throughout the last generation when they had the lead. Now when they are in third place, all of a sudden marketshare doesnt matter (same as Apple fanboys when it comes to Mac marketshare)

As for Zune one way or another it is a failure. It will never have any meaningful marketshare and if there is any Zune fans out there thinking otherwise well they are mistaken. My argument is about Apple fanboys having double standards when it comes to measuring something. When the numbers dont show something they'd like to see all of a sudden the game changes

I'm old enough to remember the days when Sony was the ultimate company. It seemed like anything they touched turned into a success (even betamax which was a consumer market failure later on become a professional standard). They had the best TVs (trinitron, WEGA), some of the highest performing audio components (ES series), Walkman and the coolest gadgets out there. If anyone ever told me Sony would be what it is today I would have called them crazy. Yet it happened

The Problem with the Apple fans is that they think Apple will continue to grow for eternity as you can see from all the "MS is dead, Google is dead, Adobe is dead, Android is dead and so on" comments. Apple once fall from grace and I see that happening again. Microsoft had it 3 years ago. Google will have it soon when they overexpand themselves way too much. It wont happen in the near future but it will happen eventually (I can see Google getting troubled first)

iMac 27 video card issue ?

I just let it on overnight in my office. I set to turn off display after 5 min in preferences. When i click the mouse to turn on the video i comes with those lines and squares. Mouse and keyboard seems to work but i can't saw it moving or selecting anything. I tried to screen sharing from other mac but it didn't connect. File sharing was working but SSH won't. So i had to hold down power until it turn off. Crossed my fingers and turn it on. Still working but it scares me !

Just to be clear, I wasn't making any arguments for or against the iPod or Xbox360 or any product regardless of market share so you're wasting your breath. I was just pointing out the converse of the statement that market share matters to Mac fans when they're talking about iPods, but not when it comes to Macs. The flip side of that is Windows fans who talk about market share of Windows but shy away from that argument when it comes to other markets. It's all the same thing and pointing out the sins of one side rarely redeems the other side.

I'm just not into this fanboy nonsense. Even though I like my iMac and consider Apple's products to be generally the best out there, I'm no fanboy and I don't get the need to take one side over the other. I'm posting this right now from my Dell laptop running XP. I also have another laptop with Ubuntu. I like using them all, even though I have a preference. It just gets a little tiresome to see Windows fans showing up here to do their superiority dance whenever some piddly little thing happens on the Mac front.

You guys have anything better to do with your time?

Flash kills my battery life

As many have stated Flash performance under Snow Leopard is terrible especially when running on an Intel mac. Though performance was still far from great on previous versions of OSX.

On my 15" MBP 2.66 Ghz unibody running Snow Leopard, Flash heavy websites can cause Safari to utilize over 100% of the the CPU, though video performance is usually acceptable. If I browse mostly Flash sites my MBP will last less than 4 hours on a full charge, avoiding Flash at all costs can give me 7 hours of battery life easy.

I also have a Quad 2.5 Ghz G5 with both Tiger and Leopard installed. Flash runs silky smooth under both versions with considerably less demand on the CPUs compared to my SL MBP. Obviously it has something to do with either Adobe or Apple's Software on Intel macs running SL. Though performance is still far from great on my imac 2.4 Ghz running Leopard.

But it's only Monday and I have to work tomorrow. :(

The second sentence seems to contradict the first. RROD.... ;)

I'm glad you're kidding about that. A colleague of mine once called me "ridiculously zen." It's almost impossible to piss me off in real life. Trying to do so from a website, no chance.
