I've been running a 64gb beater 6 after selling my 6S+ 128gb in prep for the X. I have to say, Apple Music has negated my personal need for so much storage space, if I stick to streaming my music including my personal collection I can get by with 64gb. I'm gonna have to wait and see what upgrade pricing is like from my carrier (Vodafone UK)

Although i'm getting an X, there were alot of disappointments in this conference. The 8 is a joke and 7S in all but name. The FaceID demo was an embarrassment and the pricing of the X would have been so much more palatable had the base model been 128gb, £1000 for 64GB is cynical and disgusting from Apple.

But im tied into the ecosystem and I like the way their **** works, if I could leave I would but Android just doesn't push my buttons.

I could not agree more about that. The 64GB is DOA for a lot of people. 4K video takes up a lotttttt of space. I think the last thing anyone wants to do is spend over $1000 on a phone and then have to worry about managing storage.

Its almost $2k in Canada for the X with AppleCare.

Really like the hardware this year, but its not compelling. I have a 6S+, I may stick with it to see what the X should have been next year. I'm hoping for Touch ID under the glass.

So a day after saying iPhones aren't only for the rich, they increase price on the base model that's new for the year, and they introduce $1K phone thats base price is 37% more than the previous upper tier base price. Yup, definitely not just for the rich /s.

And before anyone says "but look at the price cut", they're keeping up with the secondary market, that's all. And look, I don't have a problem with the price. They can charge $10,000 for all I care, just don't spout out this "we're changing humanity for the good" and "iPhones aren't just for the rich" crap. Smartphones have enabled some amazing stuff, but it's also made majority of society slaves to their devices and made it a dumpster. People always have their heads in their phones even when amazing events are happening right in front of their freak'n faces, they cause deaths because of distracted driving and fools just walking in front of cars because they're on instagram.

It's my opinion that smartphones as of this point are a net negative simply because people can't control themselves.

Same here with a 6S+. Personally the 8+ is just more of the same AND is now clearly labelled by Apple as the last of the old gen. Why would I pay C$1,200++ for an 8+ now!? I'll stick with the 6S+ and wait for the next round.

The iPhone SE is a baffling affair. Updated with new specs but in a 4year old design? I'm sorry but I don't get it. Fashion moves so fast that you have to be dead to think this looks anything but super clunky. IMHO they should have at least made the SE a cut down version of the iPhone 8/8plus or just the iPhone 8 with a plastic shell. I know they only keep the design to reduce costs but having three iPhone designs now is getting stupid, some models will cannibalise others. I suspect the iPhone x will be in massive demand over all others for a very long time and cause apple all kind of issues.

The SE is the best phone they've ever made imho. I love the look of my SE better than the 6/6S/7 and the 8/X. Half the point of the SE is to provide a phone for people who like smaller screens, so a plastic 8 wouldn't fit that bill.

The SE isn't too thin so it has great battery life, its fantastically useable one handed, has Touch ID and has the headphone port

It's true that this year, for Australian's, Apple is charging more than just USD converted to AUD + 10% GST. Some years we've done ok, at times it was even slightly cheaper to buy an iPad here than in the USA. Maybe the difference this time around is that Apple is finally going to have to start paying tax to the ATO on profits made in Australia - instead of sending profits to Singapore at a cheaper tax rate. I'm not saying Apple did anything illegal. I'm saying Australia finally got wise. Plus, wages and commercial property in Australia is probably more expensive than in the states. So while I don't like the higher prices. I understand them.

Totally. I thought I would be filled with tech lust but watching the 8 come out and the presentation by Phil was just unpassionate, you could tell where they want to head with the tech because they were excited about the X. But I really think we will see what they really intended next year. Touch ID is better than Face ID hands down.

iPhone SE starts at $349 for the 32GB

That's a great price, given the quality, memory and processing power.

Next year we could perhaps get a bezel free iPhone SE.

If so, I may buy one. I liked the small size of my iPhone 4.

I'm guessing the 6s is being held over for the headphone jack in a regular/plus body size; there would have been too much flak if the SE was the only iPhone available with one. Otherwise, logic would have had the 7/+ with a storage cap of 32/GB128GB selling at the lower price tier alongside the 8 and the X.

I'm not the first to say this but too many choices. Yes, it's possible to have too much of a good thing. If you are trying to get consumers to act on impulse the last thing you want is for them to have to think about the differences between models.

What I don't get is why keep the iPhone 7 in the line up. It's so much like the 8. Would be a much easer choice for people if it was the SE, 6s,8,X. Each model there is distinctive.

1 dolar = 0.85 EUR.
iPhone X 64GB - 999 US Dolars = 1150 - 1200 EUR (depends if there is an official Apple store, or not)
iPhone X 256 GB - 1150 US Dolars = 1319 - 1400 EUR (also depends, if there is an official Apple store, or not)

What the.. ok, rather not saying anything. Also considering 64GB is cynical and disgusting joke from Apple, paying nearly 1400 EUR for a smartphone.. well, definitely not this year, sticking with iPhone 7 matte black 128 GB.

I can't wait to see how they retract from Face ID next year when they finally get the embedded home button in the display.

It is but it's nothing new. Apple has been configuring models with too little storage on one end and too little on the other for a few years now. They buyer is stuck either having to closely manage their phone's storage or paying extra for storage that will lay fallow just to avoid that prospect. It can be seen in iPhones, iPads, even Macs. Heck, with Macs Apple plays this trick with RAM too.

It's simple:
SE For those who want a small-screen phone (bonus: headphone jack)
6S/6S+ For those who insist on having a headphone jack
7/7+ For those who value waterproof phone and don't care about dongles
8/8+ Ummm..

Yes, I understand the difference in the models. My point is that the 7 and 8 are very similar in functionality.

Same here. I have a 128 gb 7 and would like the X but 64 gb is way too small. Maybe I'll wait for next year.

Buy only what you can afford. Either way, you get a great device.

So true: it's weird how people overspend their means when it comes to phones. All of these phones are extremely capable and completely "modern." No one should feel bad if, for example, the SE is what they can afford. I switched from my 7+ to an SE for a couple of weeks last year just to try it, and I liked it quite a bit. This is a good lineup, by almost any measure.

the 6s is the best bang for the buck iPhone you can buy today.

That or the SE (essentially a 6S in a different form factor). It is shocking you can get a very capable iphone for $350. The SE runs IOS11 buttery smooth.

When you take a second and look at the entire lineup, the X doesn't seem as ridiculously priced.

My wife is always one series ahead of me (she has the 6S while I have the 6). I am seriously considering the 126GB 6S for sure. I love the 6 and I use Siri quite a bit. I really want to say "Hey, Siri" while not being plugged in, haha!

Seriously considering ordering the 6S to replace my current 6S. What has this world come to when getting the two year old model is the best option?
