Not compatible with 2017? Rough! My 12.9" pro from 2017 can't handle a mouse? Why?

that's why being these accessories are a waste of money. the form factors are always changing. expect to use them for the current generation they were designed for and that is it.

Also $350 for a keyboard? The empathy levels are very low at apple, with their greed levels on the rise.

Yeah that is just way to much for an accessory. There are already better designs online for much cheaper. Love Apple products but the company has really lost touch with their customers in almost every way. Can't wait to be further disappointed with iPhone 9 (SE2.. whatever they call it).

I just finished talking to to several Apple Specialists and they all OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED that the new Magic Keyboard "is NOT compatible with the 1st Generation 11-in iPad Pro." It is "only compatible with the 4th Generation iPad Pro."

This link "should be extremely helpful in determining which Keyboard is the perfect fit for you" because it "is NOT compatible with the 1st Generation 11-in iPad Pro": https://www.apple.com/ipad-keyboards/select/?aid=CA-link

But seriously, the quotes are what I was told by multiple Apple Specialists. Why has Apple become so terrible about providing information about their OWN products?

Ok...well Apple's website says all the new accessories are compatible with the 1st generation iPad Pro.....per your link.

$350 for a KEYBOARD!

😡🔫
I mean if you look at the pricing of the magic keyboard and Magic Trackpad its not too far outside that range of combining them both. Plus you get a backlit keyboard. Plus. you get a stand and swivel adjustment. Plus you get a protective cover/folder of sorts. I think its a little high but it would be worth it for all you get.

Wonder how this looks with the camera cutout differences between the generations...
It will look odd, but be glad it's supported at all. I believed the 2018 wouldn't be supported because of a potentially differing magnet configuration.

Also, the regular Smart Keyboard Folio has been updated to be compatible with both the 2018 and 2020 models. This means that if you use the new Smart Keyboard Folio on the old 2018 model, it will look odd because of the huge cutout for the camera.

Anybody know if the trackpad is force touch like the MacBook pros? If it is then this thing will be amazing.
They need to bring that force touch trackpad to the appletv remote. The click on the remote is horrible. Could be much better with the design from the MacBook lines.

I can buy another 2017 10.5" iPad Pro for $350 - It's a beautiful accessory but nowhere near worth that cash
This is going to keep me from having to buy a MacBook. It’s absolutely worth it to me. Maybe not to you, but that’s why these things are optional.

It would basically be impossible to make it compatible with the 2017, so that's no surprise at all. But yes, your 12.9" Pro from 2017 can indeed handle a mouse. I've already tried it with my 2017 10.5" model and it works.

Quite frankly I'm a little surprised it's even compatible with the 2018, since I had thought the magnet configuration would be somewhat different, due to the camera size, but they've made it work so that's good for the 2018 owners.

I didn't mean the keyboard specifically, I meant the software capability of handling Apple's refined track pad idea, which I imagine will work with approved 3rd party trackpads or even their own magic track pad!

The more i look at it, the more I love it. Too bad it's not coming sooner, would love to get my hands on this.

Also, if I use it on the 2018 iPad Pro, wouldn't there be a massive cutout in the back for the camera? Wonder if they'll possibly make a separate version for the 2018 iPad Pro. Good to see they improved the keyboard nonetheless, the old ones sucked.

Highly doubt they would make one specifically for the 2018 models. The camera system on the ‘18 models will fit within the cutout of the 2020 models.

Everyone comparing this to Surface...how many people use Surface without the keyboard as a tablet?

There are 2012 and 2014 MBP's that if you upgrade the RAM and SSD would cost a similar amount to the keyboard and give you a better desktop performance in my opinion

That price is ridiculous, outrageous, and unconscionable. I will buy one immediately.

Seriously really glad they made it compatible with previous iPP. (not sure they could've survived the rage if they hadn't, with such powerful/recent device, but still glad)

Aside from the great keyboard specs, that floating feature really has me sold.

I'm all in for that. I can careless about the price. You can afford a tablet that's already hundreds of dollars overpriced, you can afford that fancy keyboard. I just want that better ergonomics of it floating, and it looks like almost any angle, maybe even a way to do it kinda for a draft angle. I'm so glad it works with current iPad Pros.
