A regular apple wireless keyboard is already $130. Not sure why people are shocked that a keyboard, trackpad and cover combo cost $300-350. Not saying its a good price but it's. just. not. shocking.

Any word on the specifics of the connectivity to an iPad Pro? The old smart keyboards had the "3 dots" that aligned on the long edge. I assume it must be parts of the magnets on the rear now? Also, the backlit keyboard has to draw power from somewhere. Since it is compatible with the 2018s - did they include this mystery magnet combination in those as well?

Can you seriously not fold this open to be used as as, you know a Tablet!
You must choose to use this primarily as a notebook form factor with keyboard or tablet without?

Also.. I get they want to highlight the trackpad, but Jesus.. It is so much better to just command C/V.

I love the new keyboard design with magnetic mount. If I could actually get MacOs on it id be all for it. For what I need it’s still too limited to replace my MacBook Pro. But more towards the right direction is good.

I totally missed that when looking at it. Good catch. I too would like to know if it can fold back that far to flip around like the current folio.

I also hope the magnets are extra strong (you'd think they would be since it "floats" on the magnetic back and no longer needs to rest on the front edge) and can work through a skin of some sort. I'd like to put a skin on mine for scratch protection when not in the folio/keyboard.

Honestly, if they had just made the keys backlit on the current keyboard folio I'd be perfectly happy with that.
That solid click you hear in craigs video makes me assume the magnetic attachment points are very strong.

Here's to hoping that the new trackpad keyboard is more like a MacBook keyboard since the original iPad keyboard was the worst keyboard ever made. The Surface Type Covers act much like a MacBook chiclet keyboard, except for the little bend/give they flex if angled up. But the Apple keyboard for iPads to date has been a typing abomination. Horrid feel and very un Apple like.

Still $350 for this. Umm. Ok. No thanks.

Ouch and double ouch. I just checked the 12.9 keyboard's Canadian price and it's certainly no illusion! It's a whopping $450 for this so called "magic keyboard"!
Wow, nice!! CAD60 discount. It should be CAD510 based on the current FX rate.

With that discount, it would be USD309 here in the States, not USD350. Must be nice.

Move to Australia, it’s $500 here!
Awesome discount—AUD$120 off what we pay here in the States. It should be AUD$620. If we got your discount, we’d be paying USD283 instead of USD350

You do realize your currency is dropping like a rock, right? It’s almost 2 Australian to 1 US dollar right now.

I highly doubt that the new keyboard will allow you to fold it back over on itself for using the iPad as a tablet. The fact that they’re showing how you can easily grab the iPad from the keyboard stand, suggests that is how they expect people to use it. Personally, I am ok with that, as it always bothers me to have the keys of the current folio on the back when using it in tablet format. What I’ll then want to do is get a skin / wrap for the back of the iPad so it is protected when used by itself.

Well the Apple trackpad is £150 on its own so no surprise

It was - then it changed to coming later. Makes me think there expecting delay or supply issue already so dropping everyone's expectation.

Still says may

Damn: If the world wasn't coming to an end and my retirement portfolio wasn't disappearing in front of me, I'd go out and get the pro (maybe even the 12.9) and this keyboard, especially since my backlit bluetooth keyboard for my iPad Air 3 is now seriously misbehaving.

The new Magic Keyboard is backwards compatible with both of Apple's 2018 iPad Pro models, the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation) and the iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation), Apple has confirmed.

Announced today along with new iPad Pro models, the Magic Keyboard attaches magnetically to iPad Pro and includes a floating design that works on either a lap or a desk, and an integrated trackpad for controlling an onscreen pointer, which Apple says will allow users to enhance their workflows in multiple ways.

The Magic Keyboard features cantilevered hinges for smooth adjustments of the viewing angle up to 130 degrees, including a full-size keyboard with backlit keys and a scissor mechanism that delivers 1mm travel. It also has USB-C pass-through charging.

The Magic Keyboard won't launch until sometime in May, but next week Apple is releasing ?iPadOS? 13.4, which introduces trackpad support for all iPads, so 2018 iPad Pro owners will need to update their devices to ensure compatibility with the Magic Keyboard when it does arrive.

The Magic Keyboard will cost $299 for the 11-inch ?iPad Pro? and $349 for the 12.9-inch ?iPad Pro?, and will include layouts for over 30 languages.

I think that’s the case...sorry. Looks like you’ll need a second case, to use your tablet, well as a table?

I wonder if this Magic Keyboard will be compatible with the rumored mini-LED iPad Pro? I would love a trackpad to use with my 2018 iPad Pro 12 inch, but can’t see purchasing this now at $350 and then having to rebuy when I get the mini-LED version whenever that comes out. Especially if it comes out this fall like some of the rumors are saying.
