A 13inch Aluminum MacBook with an LED display and multi-touch would be the perfect college laptop if not the perfect laptop. Especially if it weights 4 pounds.
Apple will definitely make the Pro model even nicer. Plus the LED screen, the bigger 17' screen, probably bigger HD available, the ability to use an additional monitor (does MacBooks do that?) -- in short, even if it the MB goes to the same material, Apple is going to make those that want a MBP to want even more than before... come on... you know that!I really do wonder if they will indeed update the design of it. Because it's going to be really hard to sell the Pro...I guess they could do that in a black aluminum?
Maybe. They also do a back to school promo with the iPods / printers which help them sell a lot.If they're going to update the macbooks soon, they'd be stupid to not do it at the beginning of June so that they'd have a jump on the education market.
Yes a Macbook would be great for you. I would just wait as long as you can and then get whatever is out.Hey everyone
Im going off to college in Augest. I have never owned a Mac, but i am leaning towards getting one for college. Is it good for college? I want a macbook. Problem is, i keep hearing about this update. heres my situation. If they dont release a new update, are macbooks still great for college. Mostly used for interent, papers, research, Messenger etc. If they do release a new one. When would it come out? I cant wait until after i go to get it. And i am worried that if a new one came out, arent there usually bugs, so wouldnt that be a problem? If it came out early July, then i can wait for reviews and make sure there arent bugs.. Please help... also, is there any difference between White and Black macbooks?
Thanks

if a new one comes out? what much do you think the new macbook will cost?
Still hoping for a 12" or 13,3" MBP, but honestly, what can it have more than the actual MB or MBA? Graphic card, but knowing Apple, if its a MBP, we all know what the price is going to be
/losing hope
Sigh
Blu-ray discs can hold over 50 GB of data. You can put whole movie archives on one disc, several operating systems, etc.Yep, I'm sure the 80 or so of you will be stoked.
I don't get what the fascination with blu-ray drives is. Sure, you can watch movies, but what else comes on blu-ray? PS3 games aren't going to work.
Apple, instead, will release an Aluminum MacBook, and you'll get integrated graphics instead...
If you want a Graphics Card - they make you upgrade to the 15" MBP.
Enjoy...
My wild guess is that Apple will improve the specs but leave the price range the same.if the macbook gets an upgrade with a graphic card, how much do you think will the macbook cost?
Very wild indeed! My wild guess is that Apple will improve the specs but leave the price range the same.
Its about time for some of the current pro features (LED screen, multitouch, backlit keyboard) to filter down to the MB line, and newer technologies (ie. blu-ray, higher resolution 15" screens, magnetic latch, SSD option) to be introduced to the pro line.
Well if they are 13.3", the most logical model is the MacBook since the MacBook Air already has a 13.3" LED LCD panel and the Pro's come with 15.4" and 17".
The only other option would be a 13.3" MacBook Pro to replace the old 12"...
With the distinguishing line between the MacBooks and MacBook Pros quickly fading away, my suggestion is that they just get rid of the MacBook Pro line and just call all of them just MacBooks. It'll be a much more simplified line-up:
13" MacBook (Multicolored): Superdrive, Integrated Graphics Chipset
15" MacBook (Silver & Black): Superdrive, SSD optional, Dedicated Graphics 512MB
17" MacBook (Silver & Black): Bluray Superdrive, Dedicated Pro Graphics Card

The MacBook Air has been released.

Exactly, that's what i'm afraid is gonna happen. Basically $1K is the price for the graphic card. I'm not that price sensitive, it just doesn't feel fair in a way to have nothing more than a graphic card for the price. If the 13'3 MBP comes out at $2k, i'd still buy it.
The Pro in Macbook Pro just doesn't mean anything anymore.
Anyway, let's just wait and see what Apple will treat the Macbook with and forget about the Pro![]()
