It was so much better when thinksecret knew the exact specs the week b4 the events. this is painful.

if i dont get a dual dual, i'm gonna make one. you wait for it.

or maybe i wont.

but steve, give me a dual dual

Due to a secrecy agreement we have with Apple I cant tell you what the spec are but some of you are close.

Note: it's also against the NDA to tell others that you are under a NDA ;)

Any iBook update rumors?

I know the rumors re today's event have centered around Powerbooks and Powermacs, but has anyone heard anything regarding iBook updates? The reason I ask is that the UK refurb store (at http://promo.euro.apple.com/promo/refurb/uk/) is selling off discounted Powerbooks and Powermacs, as one might expect, but also discounted iBooks.

We're all going to be hugely disappointed by the hardware I'm afraid

very minor speed bumps for PBs and PMs, no dual core, bigger disks on the PBs, nothing of any real interest sorry. Don't know anything about software though.

A Photoshop competitor?

I'm thinking that Apple is about to fire a warning shot across the bow of Adobe and announce a Photoshop competitor. Especially since Adobe was whining about not being able to have a native Photoshop application ready for the Intel Macs next year. A little competition may change their minds.

i sincerely hope you are mistaken.

A new pro photo app from Apple would be cool, and very timely since UPS is delivering the Canon 350D Digital Rebel XT I ordered today. :D

I don't think this Photo Pro is in any way a Photoshop competitor. I think it's a pro-style photo management app. Powerful cataloguing capabilities (when you back up it will tell you where a certain photo is, keeping track of it wherever you move it), a digital light-box thingy offering greater performance and visual capabilities than iPhoto. More RAW focussed editing abilities (similar to the Camera Raw part of Photoshop and Elements) and better colour/light/exposure etc editing capabilities.

Something akin to iPhoto, Elements and Extensis Portfolio combined.

I just looked - the event doesn't happen until 2am tomorrow morning here (GMT+10). Great, another "crucial assignment due on Friday but must spend Thursday researching new Apple announcements" situation, much like the last two announcements  :p :(

That would make sense... and is a needed app in my opinion, since Adobe Album is apparently windows only. I haven't tried Extensis Portfolio... and I wasn't that impressed with Lightbox when I tried it.

I'm in the same boat, but let's face it, sleeping's for wusses and Windows users. (the blue screen of death makes them sleepy.)

Hey... any one who know when it will be, how long time is left??

Event is 12 E.T. (10 a.m mountain time); it's 7:42 mountain, so 2 hours 18 minutes.

But in England it's 2:42 so they've already heard it ??? (and they're not telling!!!)

I find that if I really lower my expectations I won't be as disappointed.

For instance, I'm hoping for a dualcore dual 3.0 Ghz PowerMac with 4 drive bays and 1GB RAM standard. Apple will give me a dual-core 2.0 Ghz G5 with a paltry 512MB RAM.

I'm hoping for Photo Pro that does everything Photoshop can do, but much faster and simpler. But no, it'll probably be so simple and asinine, it'll be like Pages for Photos.

I'd go for that if it just flashed "COMPLETELY F@ $ED" in white across the blue screen of death. :D And then made the computer smoke. I don't care how. In fact, Steve, if you're listening, I want a computer that smokes. If monkeys can be taught to do it a G5/Intel Powerbook should too. (and I don't mean smoke from my rapidly charring lap.)
