After yesterday.... it really needs to be something special.

Some of that "amazing product in the pipeline" seriously needs to get out!

Are you referring to the niche machine starting at $3000 for an i5 introduced yesterday? It's not going to sell in significant quantities.

Professionals don't have time to lose with unreliable hardware; the disaster of the Surface Book should be a reminder that Microsoft is still very much Microsoft.

I'm guessing we will see the following

13" MacBook introduction
MacBook Pro's with the touch bar and Touch ID feature among other upgrades.

The venue is at Apple's campus and is a small one, so i'm not expecting any surprises.

Is the SurfaceBook a disaster? No. Did it have a bumpy launch? Yes.

I hope Apple have something to show. This is the second launch since 2005 that I've not been involved in so it'd be nice to actually be surprised for once.
After MS yesterday and the leak the day before I'm seriously not holding up much hope.

So Apple is making my Early 2015 MacBook Pro officially old today. Oh well, such is life. I really do hope there is more to Apple's event, maybe surprise updates to the iPad Pro 12 inch. I don't see whats the point of holding that out until March. I certainly ain't spending money on 2015 model which is going to be a year old soon. Considering the right Kabylake processors are not ready yet for the iMac, Apple might simply choose to add more powerful Skylake CPUs to the iMac and possible the update the default RAM configuration to 16 GB. Apple better have some tricks up its sleeve with that Magic Toolbar though.

Also, hypothetically: how would people react if Schiller said: "But what about the chips?"

'Intel Inside' appears on the backdrop, looming down on the presentation. The word Intel slowly fades out... and is replaced by the Apple logo.

Granted, they're probably not yet ready to ditch Intel and go in-house. It'd be a massive shock if they did, though.

Nice,

I usually head into the office on Thursdays, but with the media event, I suddenly had an issue at home that required me to stay here :D

Now I can watch and not look over my back

Well your boss might do the same thing too so I guess it's ok ;)

I'm not terribly worked up over Skylake, but I hope we see some newer designs, to freshen up the product line

I am tired of them making the laptop thinner and not adding any real functionality into it

Genuinely curious, what kind of increased functionality would you like to see in a laptop?

I'm guessing there will be USB-C, significantly faster SSD, the latest spec BT & WiFi, TB 3, an improved display with DCI-P3 color gamut, MBP-class Skylake CPU, better graphics, Touch-ID, the OLED strip, another hour on battery life, perhaps better built-in sound. KL CPUs next year when available in quantity from Intel.

And if Apple does not include HDMI and mDP in the new machine, I'll be "forced" by my own laziness and the many HDMI & mDP Beamers in our office to buy such an old 2015 MBP (to replace my ancient 2012 retina13).
I'm SO ready so spend some serious $$$$$$$, but Apple and the law of progress probably prevent it...
Oh well, such is life...

An updated iMac is something I have been waiting to purchase. But then again, I've been waiting to purchase an Apple Watch Version 2 that was "released" a month and a half ago. I was hoping to purchase airpods today also, looks like that may not happen.

I'm guessing if anything is said about a new iMac today it will be something like "Available for pre-order starting on Juvember 32, 2017", and then when you are able to pre-order it will be a two and a half month wait before you can get it.

I hope I'm wrong but Apple has been over promising and under delivering for a while now.

Something tells me that over all there's going to be allot of disappointment and the availability will be off in the future and not today. Seems our local store is always on the bottom of the list to get new items. Looking for a 15" MBP that is thin like the 13" MBA, outstanding battery life also. Not being negative, IMHO apples priorities have changed drastically and not for the better. Mite be time to switch

to be fair, after yesterday Microsoft event, this is gonna be a flop, typical apple now, slightly faster cpu and graphics new ports and new bar thats it, Microsoft has stepped the game up and changed the tech world and apple is in trouble after today, iOS 10 is a flop and still not fixed iPhone 7 isn't huge upgrade, apple need to sort it out I'm a huge apple fan but lately at the keynotes its disappointing, unless today is magical apple will no longer be best tech company, I have to give my hands up to Microsoft from there keynote yesterday and every apple fan feels the same
