The upcoming week event will be an hour of half of series trailers, thats for sure. Next year, the "one more thing" product will be a new season of some random show. Im not sure that Im happy with this. Apple should focus they effort on technology, R&D, new products and perfecting existing products. Being content producer is not really something that may excite you about the future.

Yeah, Apple's focusing on news and video services. Despite rumors about a new iMac, Apple has also been defocusing on computers (real computers, not iPads, not iOS). I wouldn't be surprised if they spun off the computer business into a separate entity. That kind of scares me. It might be the beginning of the end for Macs, but it might also enable a dedicated crew to develop better products.

I’ve always wondered why it takes them hours to update their site. It’s likely that it’s not necessary but done deliberately to build hype. It’s an old trick, you let people know there’s something behind the curtain, and you make them wait before you lift it.

True, but is night in the US, so people will wake up with new products unless the store remains down for a few more hours. I barely see tweets talking about the store, maybe because I mostly follow guys from the US

There are procedures they need to follow. Update contents, test all purchase flows, both automatically and also a human QA should be applied to make sure it works without issues. Dev teams are on stadby to fix potential problems. And it all has to be done within few hours, which is quite an achievement.

Yes. Once upon a time Apple was focused on building devices that allowed people to create amazing content.

This feels like a cooking utensil factory starting a line of restaurants.

As long as iPads continue to just be a blown up smartphone, I have no interest I am glad though for the peeps that do have interest in them getting a better product.

The iPad pros are by far the most exciting thing Apple produces, in my opinion.

It’s the software that holds them down. No mouse support. No full-screen desktop output. iOS has been purposely gimped, possibly so it does not overtake macOS.

The new iPod touch models will start at $349 and $399 respectively. AirPods will be priced at $199. iMacs will start at $1,199. iPad mini will start at $399. iPad 9.7 will start at $349.

I do see the new iPod touch selling well only because of less fortunate people who can’t afford an iPhone. Even though you can score a new iPhone SE for $99 on a few prepaid websites. The iPod Touch will not include a headphone jack which is a bummer. I do see AirPods selling out in 38 seconds as well as the new iPad. The iPad Mini will only be a good fit for drone users.

Fortunately it's just a website, which we can visit from the comfort of our homes.

Right, but, it’s still inconveniencing to have the Apple store down for XYZ amount of time when Amazon never needs to take their store down their customer base as an example.

If someone buys a product when they are just about to update them, it would mean many people wanting to return for the updated product. Apple probably sees it as better to take the store down, rather than have annoyed people because they just brought last years product an hour or so before Apple updated them.

This makes no sense unless the mini will have some additional features or a redesign.

It's Apple. They'll charge whatever they want and people will buy it anyway.

EDIT: I'll probably buy it at that price point, because there's no alternative (running iOS) at that size.

Well you could still have bought one just yesterday. ;)

Sure, I suppose if anyone was in absolutely urgent need of purchasing something from Apple during the 3 hours the store is down (after what? 2,000+ hours of uptime, this year alone?) then, yeah - it could be considered slightly "inconveniencing." First world problems and all that.

That is true, however it simply adds a cut off point. I think i would be more annoyed if i had brought a new product an hour or so before Apple updated them. A week before would be annoying but an hour would really take the biscuit

iPad Pro's are still just blown up iPhones as long as they run iOS. Even then they would need mouse, keyboard a USB port and a thunderbolt port. I don't see that happening anytime soon. Remember, the ONLY reason they even created iPad Pro with pen support is in reaction to the Surface Pro, just like the touch bar was a reaction to touchscreen laptops
All Apple would have to do is create a tablet with MacOS on it, sell it for $2000 dollars and reap the cash flow I guarantee would come from it. They aren't worried about it over taking there computer products and probably would be happier if that did so they didn't have to worry about them anymore but right now it's just because they know you will buy both devices and they can make more money.

I think it'll just be the 2019 base model iPad with improved specs, AirPods 2 with better bass and maybe some new Apple Watch bands. Next week's event can then fully focus on Apple News, and other subscription services they have in mind.

Yeah, that does suck.

It’s such a shame Apple doesn’t have their version of the Surface Pro.

I honestly wonder who would buy that. It’s literally schizophrenic design. As an example the surface pros and touch screen laptops are absolutely useless when used as a tablet.
